Small town Olympia

Olympia is the capital city of the state of Washington, which is located around an hour's drive away from Seattle. You can also reach there from Seattle by public bus which you have to transfer, which would take around 1h45min. Olympia is not as well known as its neighbor Seattle but it's still a charming little city that is excellent for a quick day trip. The State Capitol is one of the main and major sites of the city. It is a very imposing building and quite nice to wander around the park. You can then walk down to Capitol Lake, which is a lovely park. There are quite a few restaurants serving local food along the marina. Finally wander around the streets and explore the various little shops that line the street on State or 4th Ave. Overall, it's a very relaxing city that doesn't involve a lot of sightseeing. You mainly visit to see the State Capitol but nonetheless a very chill place to spend the day while savoring local delights.
