Qinhuangdao Dongjia Great Wall Loop Hike on November 20th

Early winter has arrived, perfect weather for hiking 🍂. This route is beginner-friendly, so come pick out the right outdoor gear and discover the charm of the outdoors under the vast blue sky of early winter 🤩! Although the trees in the mountains have withered, there is less cover along the route, making hiking easier and more comfortable. Hiking Information ℹ️ ⛅ Weather: Cloudy, 1°～11°C 🗺️ Route: 📍 Start & Finish: The First Pass of the Great Wall 🕰️ Time: Departure at 10:30 from the start point. ⛰️ Total Elevation Gain: About 300m ⏳ Hiking Duration: Approximately 3 hours for the entire route. 🥾 Hiking Distance: 6.5 km, clear route, no technical difficulty 🚗 Transportation Plan: No public transport available; driving is required. The location is 40 km from Haigang District, about 1 hour by car. 🗺️ Route Description: Drive to park at the First Pass of the Great Wall. After starting on the road, hike 2 km before beginning the off-road ascent. The off-road section is 3.5 km, followed by 1 km on the road back to the parking lot 🅿️. This route is relatively friendly for movement, with about 3 km on the road. Parking is in the middle, so you won’t have to walk too much on the road at the start or end. The First Pass of the Great Wall also has parking 🅿️. The first half of the off-road section is mostly stone slopes; wearing hiking boots will mainly be a physical challenge, while other types of shoes carry some risk. The second half has many fallen leaves on the descent, so hiking poles are essential to avoid slipping. Safety is the top priority for outdoor activities, and proper gear is crucial. 🛠 Recommended Gear: Hiking boots, three-layer clothing system (base quick-dry layer, mid fleece layer, outer shell jacket), pants can be thin fleece, lightweight down, or insulated vest, backpack (10~20L), hiking poles (two are best), water (800ml or more, electrolyte drinks preferred), thermos (to keep water from getting too cold in low temperatures), lip balm (to keep lips comfortable in the wind), light snacks (no need for meals on the route), buff (for wind and dust protection), sunglasses, hat. Gear is listed from most to least essential. ❤️ Friendly Reminder: As temperatures drop in the future, it’s important to wear quick-dry fabrics close to the skin to manage sweat during exercise. Carry lightweight down or an insulated vest in your backpack. A good pre-exercise meal is important, and bring high-calorie snacks and plenty of water. This route is short with no rest stops in the mountains, so prepare according to your personal needs.
