A medieval pilgrimage site

#myhiddengems Ever since I read about Rocamdour, I had been trying to figure out where and when to squeeze it into my itinerary. My stay in dordogne was very comfortable. I made some great friends too and so ended up staying a few more days. Some of the people I knew were more keen on day trips. Turns out that was the best way to go about it. We finally put together a plan for Rocamdour. We were about a little more than 100 kms away. And it made sense to cover what's on the way and slightly further as a way of making the most of the day. The plan included Rocamdour, Village of Alvignac and Gouffre de Padiric which is only about 12kms further. From a day trip perspective, I would recommend starting sooner. You see it's a very small town settled atop a hill. There is one main street and some pilgrimage sites. For those who have trouble climbing or the stairs. There is a halfway lift as well. Since it is a small town it does get a bit crowded. The early hours were much better.
