California Road Trip 🚗 From sunny Los Angeles to romantic San Francisco, check in at classic landmarks across California. This self-driving route is definitely worth saving! Day 1: First Impressions of Los Angeles After landing at Los Angeles International Airport, head straight to the Getty Center (1200 Getty Center Dr). This hilltop museum offers excellent views overlooking the entire city of LA. Open Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 AM, it’s recommended to visit in the evening to catch the sunset~ At night, go to Griffith Observatory (2800 E Observatory Rd) for the night view. Open until 10 PM on weekends, don’t forget your camera to capture the Hollywood sign! Day 2: Classic Los Angeles Check-ins The Ferris wheel at Santa Monica Beach (open all year, all day) is a must-photograph spot; it’s best to come in the morning when it’s less crowded. In the afternoon, drive to Anaheim to check out Route 66 (Anaheim section), where there are many retro car diners perfect for photos. Stay overnight in downtown Los Angeles for easier access to the next day’s itinerary. Day 3: Hollywood Celebration Day Universal Studios Hollywood (100 Universal City Plaza) hours vary by season; in November, it’s generally open from 9 AM to 8 PM. It’s recommended to buy tickets in advance on Trip.com. The Super Mario area is super fun! Be sure to watch the WaterWorld show at night—the special effects are amazing. Day 4: North to San Francisco Drive 5 hours to San Francisco, with the first stop at the Golden Gate Bridge. In the afternoon, visit Lombard Street to see the steepest street; comfortable shoes are recommended. Stay overnight at the Marriott at Fisherman’s Wharf to enjoy the most authentic seafood. The Courtyard by Marriott at Union Square is also very well located and great for shopping. Day 5: In-depth City Tour Alcatraz Island requires advance boat ticket reservations; it’s best to choose the first morning departure to avoid crowds. In the afternoon, watch the sea lions sunbathing at Fisherman’s Wharf. The Fog Harbor Fish House’s crab chowder is highly recommended.
