Cabrillo National Monument • Lighthouse

🔴Cabrillo National Monument is located at the San Diego Point National Monument. It is only a 20-minute drive from downtown San Diego. ⚪️Spanish explorer Juan landed in San Diego in 1542, marking the first European expedition to set foot on the west coast of the United States. When visiting, you can find a statue of Juan near the visitor center. 🟠The lighthouse was built in 1855 and is one of the earliest lighthouses on the U.S. West Coast. The monument preserves parts of the old coastal defense batteries and World War II bunkers and observation posts. 🔵The monument includes several hiking trails ranging from easy to moderate difficulty.
