It was formerly the exclusive green space of the Shanghai Steam Turbine Factory. Later, perhaps considering the original name too ordinary and unable to reflect the extensive red-leaf tree species and the garden's artistic conception, it was renamed "Hongyuan" (Red Park) in 1962. Hongyuan Park covers a total area of 42,000 square meters. The entire park is centered around water features, cleverly integrating an artificial lake, a nameless island, and pavilions and towers, creating a unique landscape that is both concentrated and dispersed. Unlike the bustling popular parks in the city, despite more than 60 years of history, it still retains a rare tranquility and elegance, truly a hidden gem in Shanghai's park scene! As its name suggests, Hongyuan Park is famous for its red leaf scenery.
