Nostalgia at Mandarin Orchard

Address - 333 Orchard Road Highlights - Nostalgic memories Rating - 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Making the most out of Trip.com’s promotion, we decided to spend a weekend at the very hotel where we hosted our wedding banquet at 16 years ago to reminisce the memorable moments on our special day, while it is still “Mandarin Orchard”. Pre-arrival communication with the reservations team is pleasant and all emails were responded within the same day. Made a special request to be assigned the same bridal room we had years ago and a visit to the ballroom that we hosted our banquet. Unfortunately, they couldn’t oblige as both the suite and the ballroom have already been closed for renovation. What a pity! Requests for a complimentary upgrade, early check-in, and late check-out were still fulfilled despite being a weekend stay and they are running at almost full occupancy. We were led to a meeting room to check-in in comfort and were upgraded to #31 at the Main Tower with a nice view facing Takashimaya and beyond. The 2 days were peaceful, and we didn’t hear any noise from the renovation works which were ongoing. While the room looks dated, it’s very clean, cosy and roomy. With the heavy renovation, it indeed took us a few lift changes between the carpark, reception, room, Club lounge and ground floor to exit. Located at the heart of Orchard Road means there are plenty of food options available and we spent time shopping and eating before coming back to the cosy room to rest and relax. Also managed to catch a movie at Orchard Cineleisure which is so conveniently right beside the hotel. What surprises us when we came back to our room is, we received Mandarin’s signature chocolate cake! It’s not our birthdays nor anniversary. Called the reception to thank them where they told us that it’s their welcome back gesture as it was noted that we had our wedding event at the hotel before. I guess they found the past records. So sweet of Mandarin! 😊 And thank you to the Reservations team for taking a note on this. We enjoyed ourselves every much though we couldn’t see much of the hotel premise now as it is heavily under renovation. We look forward to staying with them in 2022 when they rebrand as Hilton. #staycation #mandarinorchard
