Journey from North to South Island of New Zealand by ferry

Instead of taking a flight to get from the North to South Island in New Zealand, why not try taking the ferry instead? There are several ferry options from Wellington to Picton, and I opted for the Interislander leaving at 3.30pm. The journey takes approximately 3.5~ hours in total and is good even for passengers driving as the ferry carries vehicles as well. The journey across Cook Strait is beautiful and passengers are free to relax and enjoy the view from the lounges within the ferry itself or head outside for clearer views. I definitely recommend staying outside as the views are amazing especially closer to the end of the journey when the sun is starting to set. #mytraveldiary
