Dorbod County travel guide and discussion

Honestly, before going to Daqing, I thought it was just oil pumps. But after 4 days, my perception of spending was completely shattered. Not because I was ripped off, but because I was shocked by how cheap and delicious, and free and beautiful everything was. But if you go in Sept–Oct, there are some pitfalls I need to warn you about first👇 📍 First, location and route (don't backtrack) Daqing attractions are in 2 areas: the city (Sa'ertu/Longfeng) and the Durbot Grassland hot springs. City attractions are dense, so taking a taxi is cost-effective; you must drive yourself or charter a car for the grassland, as bus schedules are extremely sparse. Day 1: Iron Man Wang Jinxi Memorial Hall → Daqing Museum (the mammoth fossils are truly stunning) → Evening: Liming Lake to catch the breeze and sunset Day 2: Longfeng Wetland (Asia's largest urban wetland) → Afternoon: Tie Dong Village for pit BBQ → Evening: Binzhou Courtyard for coffee and lake views Day 3: Drive to Durbot Grassland → Soak in the hot springs at Lianhuan Lake → Stay by the lake Day 4: Amuta Mongolian Cultural Island (the grassland turns golden in Sept–Oct, beautiful and quiet) → Return 🍜 Food recommendations (I wanted to move to Daqing after eating here) ▪️ Pit BBQ: The soul of Daqing food! Slow-cooked in a pit; lamb chops, pork belly, and roasted eggs are super fragrant. Tie Dong Village is Pit BBQ Street, with 21 shops, each with its own specialty. I recommend Sanhe Niuzhuang and Yuweng Pit BBQ. ▪️ Tonghui Pork Knuckle: An old shop hidden in a residential area. The pork knuckle is braised until soft and falls off the bone—perfect with rice. ▪️ Shunxin Restaurant: You can eat until you're stuffed for about 30 yuan per person. The stir-fried pork with eggs is full of wok hei, the Di San Xian is only 10+ yuan, and the portions are ridiculously large. ▪️ Iron Pot Stew: How can you not eat this in Northeast China? The goose is stewed until flavorful, and the corn cakes dipped in the soup are addictive. 🏠 Accommodation guide ▪️ City: Prioritize staying in Dongfeng New Village (near Wanda): convenient for dining and shopping, and close to Liming Lake. Chain hotels are around 100–200 yuan per night. ▪️ Transit: There are many small hotels around Daqing Station; you can get a room for a few dozen yuan, but the soundproofing is average. Book online and don't listen to people soliciting customers at the station. ▪️ Vacation: Hot spring hotels in the Lianhuan Lake scenic area are very cost-effective on weekdays, with lake views from your window. ⚠️ Warning: Daqing Station and Daqing East Station are very far apart. Check carefully before buying tickets so you don't get them mixed up. 📸 Instagrammable spots (Sept–Oct exclusive) 1️⃣ Binzhou Courtyard: Industrial style + lake view + sunset. Pure white walls with iron tables and chairs—the lighting in the evening is amazing. 2️⃣ Liming Lake Beach Market: Go around 5:00–6:00 PM. Watch the sunset first, then browse the night market. The container and hot air balloon installations are great for photos. 3️⃣ Amuta Grassland: In Sept–Oct, the grassland turns yellow. Blue skies and white clouds against golden grass waves give it a Northeast little Inner Mongolia vastness. 4️⃣ Longfeng Wetland: Reed marshes + water birds. Walking into the wooden boardwalk creates a great atmosphere; it actually feels more cinematic on cloudy days. ⚠️ Pitfall guide (you really need to know this if you go in Sept–Oct) ✖️ Weather: Weather is unpredictable. In September, Daqing is still humid, occasionally muggy, and the temperature difference between day and night is ridiculously large. Wear short sleeves during the day and bring a jacket for the evening. ✖️ Mosquitoes: Mosquitoes in the wetlands are huge and vicious. Bring high-strength repellent; wearing shorts is basically delivering takeout to the mosquitoes. ✖️ Shoes: Don't wear white shoes. The wetland boardwalks and grasslands are muddy; your white shoes will turn into camouflage style by the time you leave. ✖️ Closures: Venues are closed on Mondays, including the Iron Man Memorial and Daqing Museum. Remember to avoid Mondays and bring your ID. ✖️ Transport: Don't try to force a taxi to the grassland. If you aren't driving, chartering a car is more reliable; waiting for the bus will make you question your life. 💡 Final tips Daqing's perception of spending being shattered isn't about being ripped off, but discovering that fun and delicious places can be this cheap. The total cost for 4 days of food, accommodation, and transport is cheaper than 2 days in some trendy cities. Go in Sept–Oct to avoid the crowds. The grasslands and wetlands are quiet. Take your time, explore, and feel this industrial yet gentle relaxed vibe—it's truly addictive🍂✨

📸 I'll drop the photogenic spots first so you don't get frustrated looking for angles when you get there 🌾 The Longfeng Wetland boardwalk is most ethereal in the morning. The reeds are half-yellow, and shooting your profile against the backlight looks like you've added a filter 📷. Climb the monitoring tower for a view of the entire water network. Honestly, it's super windy; if your hat doesn't have a strap, it will fly away 😅. Don't go to the overpass too late for sunset. In September, it gets dark early in the Northeast, and missing it by half an hour will ruin your mood. The exterior of the Sa'ertu Oil Museum looks like blocks of cream. Wearing light-colored workwear for an industrial-style shoot is weird but very photogenic 🛢️. The steps and old oil derrick at the Iron Man Museum are great for solemn photos. Don't strike silly poses; just be respectful once you're inside. The Durbot Amuta Grassland is vast. A long dress with leather boots, and when the wind blows, your hair looks just right; Lianhuan Lake hot springs are steamy. Don't put your waterproof phone case in your pocket after shooting; I burned my hand last time and almost cried like an idiot 🫠. 🕳️ These tips to avoid pitfalls are things I learned the hard way. Read them to save yourself some trouble 👟 In September, Daqing can get as cool as 10°C in the morning and evening. It's sunny during the day and freezing at night; if you don't dress in layers, you're asking for trouble 🧥. Don't rush to the Iron Man Wang Jinxi Memorial Hall or the Petroleum Science and Technology Museum on Mondays. Many museums are closed or by appointment only on Mondays, and you'll be upset if you waste a trip. Checking opening hours on Trip.com before you leave is the safest bet 📅. Don't leave the boardwalk to go into the grass at the wetland. The mosquito plus mud combo will make you lose it. Definitely wear long socks. For pit BBQ, don't just walk into any "viral flagship store" at the scenic area entrance. The old shops in Tiedong Village with lots of locals are the most reliable. Order a small platter for two, otherwise, you'll get potatoes, sweet potatoes, and pork belly all at once, and you'll be too full to move 🥔. Ask if the lake fish is priced by the piece or by weight. Some stalls around Lianhuan Lake have vague verbal quotes. I tried to save money and got burned once; I felt so stupid afterward 🐟. Use ride-hailing apps for taxis and don't trust low-priced one-day tours at the station. Booking official tickets and admission through Trip.com is much more worry-free. 🗺️ I've planned a 3-day itinerary that isn't exhausting. Lazy travelers, just copy this 📝 Day 1: Hardcore city tour. Morning: Iron Man Wang Jinxi Memorial Hall (bring your ID to take your time looking at old photos and drilling rig models). Noon: Iron pot stew in Sa'ertu. Afternoon: Choose between the Oil Museum or the Petroleum Science and Technology Museum. If you don't want to move, just stroll around Times Square. Day 2: Wetland relaxation. Morning: Longfeng Wetland for boardwalk photos. Noon: Small pit BBQ platter in Tiedong Village. Afternoon: Return to the city to do laundry and sleep, or take a walk around Liming Lake to see the water views 🌅. Day 3: Out of town. Visit Durbot Amuta to see the grassland and drink milk tea. If you have energy, add the Lianhuan Lake hot springs; you'll feel like you've been rebooted after soaking ♨️. If you only have 2 days, cut the grassland. The wetland plus oil line is the best value. Don't cram everything in; you'll just suffer the whole time. 🍖 Food recommendations: No fluff, just what I like and what won't disappoint 🥢 Pit BBQ is the soul of Daqing. Pork belly, chicken wings, potatoes, and eggs slow-cooked in an earthen pit. When you peel back the foil and that steam rises, your diet plan collapses on the spot 😋. Iron pot stewed goose with corn cakes—the thickened sauce on the cakes is amazing. For "pig slaughter" stew, get the sauerkraut, pork, and blood sausage; it's a total pick-me-up when the weather gets cold. Order a small portion of guobaorou. Eat it while it's hot; if it gets cold, it's like chewing on a shoe sole. Stewed chicken with hazel mushrooms and wide vermicelli is the hidden champion. The mushroom aroma in the soup is addictive 🍄. Don't be afraid of the grease with Durbot hand-grabbed lamb; pair it with chive flower sauce and salty milk tea, and your "grassland appetite" will instantly open up. If you eat Mongolian food at Amuta, ask about the set menu before ordering, otherwise, once the roasted lamb arrives, two people won't be able to finish it. Northeast Chinese portions are generally huge. Order less but better; leftovers take up fridge space, and I really don't recommend ordering a full table just to save face 🙃. 🧴 Final thoughts: In September, bring sunscreen, a folding umbrella, and a thin down jacket—three layers are enough. When taking photos at the wetland, don't use flash to disturb the water birds. Observe from a distance, don't feed, chase, or shout; civilized photography looks classier 🦢. For accommodation, Sa'ertu is convenient for food and drinks. If you want to soak in hot springs, stay in Lindian or Lianhuan Lake. Compare prices on Trip.com before booking; weekend rates jump around like a pump jack. Follow this guide, and your trip to Daqing won't be a disaster—it'll be worth it 💃.

Garidi Scenic Area: A grassland water town by Lianhuan Lake with beaches and yurts Traveling from Daqing city towards Dorbod, after passing Lianhuanhu Town, the meadows on both sides of the road gradually open up. When the car turns into Nangang Village, a stretch of water unfolds on the horizon—you have arrived at Garidi. "Garidi" means "phoenix" in Mongolian. The scenic area gets its name because the landscape of Nangang Village looks like a "phoenix looking back" pattern when viewed from above. Lakeside beach: A natural swimming area nearly one kilometer long The scenic area is located on the shores of Xihulu Lake, one of the eighteen lakes of Lianhuan Lake. There is a natural beach about one kilometer long along the shore, with fine, soft sand that feels cushiony underfoot. The beach stretches along the shoreline, connecting to woodland on one end and extending into the shallows on the other. The lake water is clear and shallow, with gentle slopes and calm waves, making it one of the larger outdoor natural swimming areas in Heilongjiang Province. In summer, people wade slowly through the shallows, where the water only reaches their ankles, and the sand underneath is smooth and even. Children squat on the shore building sandcastles, while adults sit on the beach with their feet in the lake, often staying for hours. Forest and camping area The beach is right next to a woodland, with sand extending from the lakeshore to the base of the trees. Various tents are set up in the forest, and some people have set up round tables and chairs under the trees to sit around, drink tea, and chat. It is cooler in the forest than on the beach, with breezes passing through the treetops, carrying the moisture of the lake and the scent of grass and leaves. The scenic area also features lakeside cabins and stargazing cabins; the cabins are small but well-equipped, and you can see the lake as soon as you open the door. Yurts and local cuisine Located in the Dorbod Mongol Autonomous County, the scenic area incorporates many Mongolian elements. White yurts are scattered along the lakeside and in the forest; some are for accommodation, while others serve as restaurants. Tables inside the yurts are set with milk tea and dairy products, and common dishes include hand-grabbed mutton and lamb soup. There is also a food street by the lake, where the smoke from barbecues rises, mixed with the savory scent of fresh lake catches. Lianhuan Lake fish soup is a local specialty, with a milky white broth that tastes fresh and not greasy. Water activities There are speedboats and jet skis on the lake; take a ride around Xihulu Lake, and you will feel the wind rushing past your ears and water splashing on your face. Pedal boats and bumper boats are better for a leisurely time, with families pedaling and drifting in the middle of the lake as ripples spread from the bottom of the boats. A fishing area has been sectioned off by the lake; the water inside the cordon is very shallow with a sandy bottom, allowing children to use small nets to catch fish and play in the water. A view from above The scenic area has a low-altitude flight pad with amphibious aircraft. You can take a flight, take off from the lake surface, and circle in the sky. Looking down from the air, the surface of Xihulu Lake is spread out among the meadows, the beach along the shore forms a curved arc, and the yurts look like white buttons scattered on green velvet. You do not fly very high, but it is enough to take in the entire scenic area. This is one of the most popular activities in the scenic area, and when the weather is good, there is always a line of people waiting by the flight pad. Xifulu Street and the sea of flowers Walking from the lakeside deeper into the scenic area, there is a short street called Xifulu, named after a homophone of Xihulu Lake, divided into three sections: Xi Street, Fu Street, and Lu Street. The street is not long, and on both sides are scarecrows made of straw rope by villagers, each with a different design, and some people stop to take photos with them. At the end of the street is a sea of flowers, planted with rapeseed flowers and safflowers that bloom in rotation throughout the seasons. When the flowers are in full bloom in summer, their colors spread from the roadside all the way to the lake. The look of the four seasons Summer is the liveliest season in Garidi; the lake water warms up, the beach is crowded, and the milk tea in the yurts is always kept hot. In autumn, the meadows turn yellow, the lake surface becomes quiet, and the light shines obliquely on the shore. In winter, the lake freezes over, and the scenic area turns into an ice and snow paradise. Winter fishing is the main event, with fishing nets pulled out from ice holes and fish shimmering silver on the ice. When the lake thaws in spring, activities by the lake increase; some people come to watch the spring fishing, while others take walks and enjoy the breeze by the lake. When walking back from the lakeside, the sun was already setting. The lake surface shimmered like broken gold, and the shadows on the beach were stretched long. Thin wisps of cooking smoke rose from the tops of the yurts, and in the distance, a few water birds flew low over the lake surface. This lake and beach have been here for a long time, and they will continue to be here.

Amuta Tourist Resort: The "grassland on the water" on the Dorbod Grassland Driving west from downtown Daqing for about 1 hour, the oil pumps outside the window gradually thin out, replaced by stretches of meadows and a shimmering horizon in the distance. When the car turns onto the fork north of Hujitumo Town in the Dorbod Mongol Autonomous County, a peninsula surrounded by lake water unfolds deep in the grassland—you have arrived at Amuta. "Amuta" means "delicious" in the Mongolian language. It was named for the peninsula's lush water and grass, deep and clear lakes, and abundant fish and resources. Surrounded by water on 3 sides, over 100,000 mu of water encircles 6,800 mu of primitive meadows, which locals call the "grassland on the water." Standing on this grassland, the water glimmers nearby, and the wind coming off the lake carries a moist, grassy scent, quite different from the dry grasslands found elsewhere. Grassland and water grow together There are lakes on the east, west, and north sides of the peninsula, with the water surrounding the grassland in the middle. Wildflowers are scattered across the meadows; July and August are when they are in full bloom, spreading out in layers of color. Waterfowl frequently land and take off by the lake; wild geese, ducks, and red-billed gulls forage in the shallow water. Occasionally, a red-crowned crane flies up from deep within the reeds, its wings skimming the water and leaving a thin trail. The Eye of Amuta: A dome growing on the grassland Walking deep into the peninsula along the meadows, you can see a domed building standing by the lake from afar. The entire building features transparent glass curtain walls on all 4 sides, and the curved dome has clean lines, looking like a half-open eye from a distance. Walking inside, the grassland and lake surface flood into your view from all directions, and the wind passes through the gaps in the curtain walls, carrying the rustling sound of grass leaves. The design inspiration is drawn from the ancient circular totems of yurts, with daylight falling from the dome and casting slowly moving light spots on the ground. Some people stand inside for a long time, saying it feels like standing in a glass box wrapped by the grassland. Yurts and pasture Groups of white yurts are scattered along the lakeside. These felt tents are more spacious than traditional yurts and have been modernized inside; some even have skylights, allowing you to see the stars while lying inside at night. The yurts are connected by wooden boardwalks, and walking on them, you can see herds of horses grazing nearby, their manes blowing in the wind. Things to do There is plenty to do in the resort. Horseback riding and archery are traditional activities. The horses at the stable are gentle; you can have someone lead you for a ride as the meadows slowly recede beneath your feet. The petting zoo is home to sika deer and other small animals; if you reach out near the fence, they will come over to sniff you. You can rent bicycles by the lake to ride slowly along the water's edge, watching waterfowl land and take off. The Hasar Sacrificial Palace is one of the largest of its kind in the country, housing artifacts such as a seated statue of Hasar, ox carts, and war drums, with daily blessing ceremonies. You can experience some handicrafts in the intangible cultural heritage workshop, and Mongolian-style travel photography is also a popular choice for many. Lakeside sunset and camping Evening is the most beautiful time on the grassland. The lakeside Sunset Bar is built by the water, with the bar counter facing the lake to the west. As the sun sinks, the entire lake is dyed golden red, and light passes through glass cups onto the wooden tables; some people hold their cups for a long time without drinking. Moonlight yurts and campsites are scattered along the lake. After dark, bonfires are lit, the firelight reflecting on the white felt walls of the yurts, and people sit by the fire chatting, their voices carried away by the wind. Practical information The resort is located on the north side of Hujitumo Town, Dorbod Mongol Autonomous County. It takes about 1 hour to drive from downtown Daqing and about 3 hours via expressway from Harbin. It is open all year round, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily. The temperature difference on the grassland is greater than in the city; it is sunny during the day in summer, but gets cool when the wind picks up in the evening, so bringing a light jacket is a safe bet. The flowers on the grassland are in full bloom in July and August, while the meadows turn yellow in September and October, offering a different kind of quiet color. Most of the paths by the lake and on the meadows are dirt roads and wooden boardwalks, so wearing comfortable shoes makes walking easy. When walking back from the lakeside, the sun has already dipped below the horizon, and the light on the meadows dims layer by layer. The outlines of the yurts gradually blur in the twilight, with only a few lights glowing, scattered near and far along the lake. The herds of horses are still grazing on the meadows, unhurried. This grassland, surrounded by water on 3 sides, has lain here for a long time and will continue to do so.

Before going to Daqing, I thought it was just an "oil city" with nothing but industrial vibes and not many travel surprises. But after arriving, I really changed my mind 🥹! I used to think that travel meant going to popular cities, but after coming to Daqing, I realized that sometimes a quiet small city is easier to relax in. No crowded crowds, no exhaustion from rushing through an itinerary—just taking it slow and feeling it is enough to be satisfied 💕 🏠 Recommended accommodation You don't need a high budget for accommodation when budget traveling in Daqing. Recommended choices: ✨ Locations with convenient city transportation Eating, shopping, and getting around will be much easier, and you can come out at night to experience the city. ✨ Small homestays with a local feel If you like slow travel, you can choose a cozy, well-decorated homestay. Waking up in the morning and watching the city slowly wake up outside the window gives you a feeling of blending into local life. The overall accommodation budget is quite friendly; you can stay comfortably for a few dozen to over CNY 100 per person 💰. 😋 Foodie heaven | You must try Northeast flavors when in Daqing 🔥 Northeast iron pot stew A must-eat for any Northeast trip! Large chunks of meat, vegetables, and vermicelli are stewed together, served with corn cakes. When the pot opens, the aroma hits you. The portions are huge, making it very cost-effective for a group; you can be satisfied for about CNY 50 per person. 🔥 Barbecue You must plan a barbecue night in Daqing 🔥. Grilled meat skewers, grilled chicken racks, and grilled cold noodles, paired with some drinks—sitting in a small shop chatting creates the perfect atmosphere. The taste at regular barbecue shops is quite good, costing about CNY 30–60 per person. 🔥 Pork stew with sauerkraut A Northeast specialty you can't miss. Sauerkraut, pork, and blood sausage are combined for a flavor that is uniquely Northeast. Eating a pot when the weather is slightly cool is pure happiness. 🔥 Guobaorou (sweet and sour pork) Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, the sweet and sour taste is very appetizing. Friends visiting the Northeast for the first time must try it; you won't be disappointed. 📌 Travel tips for Daqing in September ✅ Significant temperature difference in autumn, bring enough clothes Daqing is comfortable during the day in September, but it gets chilly in the morning and evening. I suggest preparing: 🧥 A light jacket 👖 Long pants 👟 Comfortable sneakers A jacket is especially important if you go to the lake at night. ✅ Don't overpack your itinerary Daqing is best enjoyed slowly. This isn't a city for just checking off sights; it's better for walking, taking photos, eating, and experiencing life. Just got back from Daqing, and I really want to share my thoughts on this underrated city 😭 Before I left, my impression of Daqing was limited to just an "oil city." But after actually visiting, I realized Daqing is far from the one-dimensional industrial city I imagined. It has vast grasslands, wetlands, lakes, golden autumn scenery, and the unique hospitality and vibrant local life of Northeast China ✨ Daqing in September is especially comfortable! There's no sweltering summer heat or winter chill. The sky is blue, the grasslands are starting to turn yellow, and the breeze from the lake carries the scent of autumn. It's not as delicate or compact as southern cities, but it has that open, expansive feel unique to the Northeast. Standing by the grasslands watching the wind sweep across the fields, sitting by the lake watching the sunset, walking the city streets and feeling the warmth of the locals—this kind of relaxation is truly rare. The biggest surprise for me was Longfeng Wetland. I used to think urban wetlands weren't anything special, but after actually going, I realized it's truly beautiful in September. Vast fields of reeds sway in the wind, the water reflects the sky, and birds fly by occasionally—it's incredibly healing 🦆 Then there's the Iron Man Wang Jinxi Memorial Hall. It's not just a place to learn about the "Daqing Spirit," but also a way to feel the city's historical depth. Daqing isn't a city that relies on viral attractions; it's a place that needs to be experienced slowly. The scenery here is grand, and the pace of life is very comfortable. Relaxed itinerary 🚗 Day 1: Arrive in Daqing > Iron Man Wang Jinxi Memorial Hall > Liming Lake > Night tour of Dongfeng New Village Morning: After arriving in Daqing, check into your hotel. Afternoon: Find a spot on the grasslands to enjoy the autumn scenery before heading back. End your 3-day, 2-night trip to Daqing. Recommended activities 📸 Photo guide: 🌾 Longfeng Wetland: In September, the reeds turn yellow, making it perfect for autumn-vibe photos. Recommended outfits: White, khaki, or brown clothing, which go well with the autumn scenery. ⛽ Iron Man Wang Jinxi Memorial Hall: Suitable for photos with a vintage or cultural feel. 🌅 Lianhuan Lake: Be sure to wait for the sunset. The autumn sunset in the Northeast is truly stunning. Highlights for independent travelers: The biggest advantage of Daqing is that it's "not tiring." There's plenty of space between attractions, so it never feels crowded. See the wetlands in the morning, enjoy the lake breeze in the afternoon, and have Northeast Chinese food at night. Three days and two nights is just right ✨ Tips to avoid pitfalls ⚠️ ❌ There is a significant temperature difference between day and night in Daqing in September, so be sure to bring a jacket. ❌ The wetland scenic area is quite large, so I recommend wearing comfortable shoes. ❌ Don't underestimate the portion sizes of Northeast Chinese food; don't order too much for two people. ❌ Some attractions are far from the city center, so plan your transportation in advance. ❌ Do not purchase or consume wild animals or wild fish; choose reputable restaurants and safe ingredients. Limited-time scenery 🌈 ✨ Longfeng Wetland In September, the reeds are golden and the sky is vast; it's one of the most healing places in Daqing. ✨ Lianhuan Lake The combination of lake views, grasslands, and sunset is perfect for photos. ✨ Iron Man Wang Jinxi Memorial Hall Experience the Daqing Spirit and learn the city's stories. ✨ Liming Lake A leisure treasure in the city, very comfortable for an evening walk. Culinary delights 🍜 🥤 Specialty drink: Northeast Dazhazi tea (coarse grain tea) It feels very unique the first time you drink it. It has a grainy aroma and is refreshing without being cloying. Experience: Have a cup after visiting attractions; it's very cooling. 🥟 Specialty snack: Daqing pit barbecue A unique Northeast way of eating. The ingredients are fragrant after being roasted. Experience: Very vibrant local atmosphere, suitable for groups. 🍖 Local specialty: Daqing iron pot stew A must-try when coming to the Northeast. The stew in the pot is fragrant and rich in ingredients. Tip: Don't order too much at once; the portions are truly huge. 🍞 Specialty food: Northeast sticky bean buns Soft, glutinous, and sweet, with a very distinct Northeast character. Suitable as a souvenir. Reminder: During your trip, do not eat wild animals or wild fish; choose ingredients from reputable sources. Relaxed travel guide 💰 Tickets: Many city parks in Daqing are free, and some scenic areas have low admission fees. Transportation: External: Transportation from Harbin to Daqing is convenient; you can take a high-speed train or drive. Within the city: Public buses are convenient, and taxi prices are quite reasonable. I recommend driving to wetlands, lake areas, and other places for more freedom. Accommodation: I recommend staying in the city center. It's more convenient for dining and shopping at night. Cost reference: 3 days, 2 nights per person: Transportation: 200–400 CNY Accommodation: 300–500 CNY Dining: 250–400 CNY Tickets: 50–150 CNY The overall budget is around 800–1,200 CNY for a comfortable trip. Hard-learned lessons 😭 Biggest lesson: I underestimated the "sense of distance" in Daqing. The city area is quite large, and attractions aren't as concentrated as in smaller cities. Be sure to plan your route in advance, or you'll waste a lot of time on the road. Also: Don't just think of Daqing as an industrial city. The real comfort lies in going to the wetlands to see the scenery, going to the lakeside to catch the breeze, and feeling the vastness of autumn in the Northeast. Overall impression ✨ Daqing is truly a city that changes your impression after you visit. For accommodation, I recommend choosing the city center area for more convenient dining and travel. Dining is very cost-effective, and Northeast Chinese food is generous and affordable. Transportation is generally convenient, and driving is more comfortable for experiencing surrounding attractions. For souvenirs, you can buy some Daqing specialty foods to take home. What I like most about Daqing is its unique sense of grandeur. It doesn't have too much noisy commercial packaging; what it does have is vast land, historical stories, and the warmth of the Northeast people. If you're looking for a place for an autumn trip that's uncrowded, beautiful, and budget-friendly, Daqing in September is definitely worth a visit 🍂 Best time to visit 🌸 🌱 May–June: Comfortable weather, suitable for outdoor activities. 🍂 September–October: Most recommended. Autumn colors begin to appear, and the wetlands, grasslands, and lakes are especially beautiful. ❄️ Winter: Suitable for experiencing the Northeast's ice and snow scenery. If you ask me when I recommend going the most? The answer is definitely September. Because Daqing at this time has the most comfortable weather, the most beautiful autumn scenery, and the most authentic Northeast local life ✨

Finally back from the oil city of Daqing! 🤣 Spent 5 days and 4 nights eating and exploring to my heart's content, checking off the pumpjacks, wetlands, and pit barbecue. No fluff or hype, just real experiences from a regular traveler. If you're planning a trip, just follow this guide! 🏨 | How to choose accommodation without falling into traps! Daqing is spread out, so don't just stay in remote areas! ✅ First choice: Ranghulu District Close to the Iron Man Memorial Hall, malls, and snack streets. Convenient for dining and taxis. Value hotels: 140–220 per night. Rooms are generally large, and many have free parking, which is great for road trippers. Lots of restaurants nearby, perfect for late-night snacks. ✅ Second choice: Near Sartu Wanda Core business district. Convenient for shopping and eating, and a moderate distance to Daqing Museum. Chain hotels 160–260 per night, with many homestay options. Good for those who like a lively atmosphere and want to visit night and morning markets. ❌ Avoid: Don't blindly stay in Dorbod/Lindian unless you're specifically going for hot springs! They are far from the city center; commuting back and forth will exhaust you. 💡 Tip: Daqing's accommodation prices are friendly, and rooms are much more spacious than in southern cities! 🍖 | Food hit & miss list | Warning: Northeast Chinese portions are huge! Remember: Order less! Order less! Two girls can barely finish two dishes! 🔥 Must-eat list 1️⃣ Pit barbecue 🔥 The local soul! Pork belly, goose eggs, potatoes, and sweet potatoes buried in an earthen kiln and roasted until crispy and fragrant. Tiedong Village Pit Barbecue Courtyard is famous. It's more cost-effective to split the bill with 4–6 people, averaging 60–80 per person. Recommend booking in advance; it takes a while to prepare. 2️⃣ Iron pot stewed goose/ribs, served with cornmeal flatbreads. Stewed over firewood, it's incredibly fragrant, and the flatbreads soak up the sauce—amazing. Averages 50–70 per person; one pot is enough for 3–4 people. 3️⃣ Old-school guobaorou (sweet and sour pork): Sweet and sour, crispy shell, not the ketchup version! 4️⃣ Northeast barbecue: Generous portions of meat skewers. Must order the dough drop soup—the ultimate late-night comfort food. Averages 50–65 per person. 5️⃣ Gabaguo (crispy rice pot): The bottom is crispy and fragrant, and the portions are huge. One pot is enough for two people. 🥘 Snack bonus: You must hit the morning markets! Sticky rice cakes, giant fried dough sticks, tofu pudding—the joy of waking up early. ⚠️ Warning: Don't just eat at restaurants inside tourist attractions; they tend to be overpriced. Try to choose street-side shops crowded with locals! 💰 | 5-day real budget reference (for 2 people) Total cost approx. 2,600–3,400 (excluding round-trip transportation) ▪️ Accommodation (4 nights): 600–850 ▪️ Food (5 days): 1,200–1,600 (eating meat every meal) ▪️ Local transport: Taxi + short-distance carpooling 350–450 ▪️ Tickets: Most exhibition halls are free! Longfeng Wetland, Iron Man Memorial Hall, and Daqing Museum are all free; just book with your ID. If you go to Lianhuan Lake Hot Springs, tickets are over 100; choose as needed. 🗺️ Simple 5-day itinerary (for lazy travelers) Day 1: Arrive → Check in, head for pit barbecue in the evening, and stroll through the local night market to soak up the atmosphere Day 2: Iron Man Wang Jinxi Memorial Hall + Petroleum Science and Technology Museum to experience the history of the oil city. In the evening, take a walk in Longfeng Wetland to see reeds and birds Day 3: See the giant mammoth fossils at Daqing Museum. Afternoon shopping in the city center, and iron pot stew for dinner Day 4: Optional: One-day trip to Lianhuan Lake Hot Springs for an ice-and-fire experience. If you don't want to travel far, just explore the morning markets and eat barbecue in the city Day 5: Leisurely eating, shopping for local specialties, packing, and heading home 💢 Honest tips to avoid pitfalls 1. Daqing is vast. The distance between attractions is not short, so don't try to walk everywhere. Taxis are very cost-effective. 2. Most museums are closed on Mondays. Don't make a wasted trip; check the opening announcements before you go. 3. Northeast Chinese portions are huge, so order with restraint. You can pack leftovers; don't force yourself to order a huge table full of food. 4. There are many mosquitoes in the wetlands, so bring mosquito repellent regardless of the season. Overall impression: Daqing is a city with strong contrasts! On one side, it has a hardcore petroleum industrial vibe, and on the other, the gentleness of lakes and wetlands. Prices are friendly, people are warm, and the food will not disappoint!

🌅 Best photo spots | Oil pump jacks + wetlands, every shot looks cinematic The two best places for photos in Daqing, honestly: one is the Longfeng Wetland boardwalk🌾. By the end of September, the reeds start turning yellow, and when the evening light hits at an angle, shooting silhouettes against the backlight is legendary. The other is the oilfield pump jack cluster. The row of pump jacks outside the Iron Man Wang Jinxi Memorial Hall is full of industrial vibes. Wear a long black or red dress for the shoot—the contrast is stunning📸. The day session at Lianhuan Lake Hot Spring is also great for photos; the garden setting plus the hot spring mist creates an ethereal, fairy-tale vibe. Amuta Mongolian Style Island has yurts and grassland backdrops. Wear a light-colored long dress, and your photos of riding horses will blow up your social media feed💥. However, the mosquitoes in the wetlands are brutal. Keep long sleeves and mosquito repellent glued to your luggage, or you'll be bitten to the point of a breakdown after just a few shots. 🍖 Food recommendations | Pit barbecue + iron pot stew, authentic Northeast vibes Coming to Daqing without eating pit barbecue is a wasted trip!🍢 Longfeng Tie Dong Village Pit Barbecue Street has over 20 old-school restaurants clustered together; you can't go wrong with any of them. Pit-roasted ribs, potatoes, and corn are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside—so fragrant you'll be stomping your feet with joy after the first bite. You can eat until you're stuffed for about 60–80 per person. Iron pot stewed goose and stewed river fish are also soul food🥘. Corn cakes are stuck around the edge of the pot, half soaked in broth and half crispy—so good you'll lick the plate clean. Zhaoyuan catfish stewed with eggplant, sauerkraut with pork and blood sausage, and guobaorou (sweet and sour pork) are must-orders for every table. The whole roasted lamb in Dorbod is crispy-skinned and tender, served with chive flower sauce—no gamey taste at all. The dining streets in Xincun District 10 and Ranghulu Central Avenue are where the locals hang out. They're much more authentic and cheaper than the "internet-famous" spots near the tourist areas. The portions are huge; for two people, a small pot is plenty. Don't be greedy and order too much—last time I ordered three pots, had to pack half of it up, and looked like a refugee carrying it all home😂. 🗺 Itinerary planning | 2 days and 1 night is just right, don't overdo it Daqing's attractions are spread out, so I don't recommend packing too much into one day—it's just exhausting. Day 1 City route: Morning at the Iron Man Wang Jinxi Memorial Hall (free, requires advance reservation via their official WeChat account, closed on Mondays!), lunch in Xincun for pit barbecue, afternoon at Longfeng Wetland walking the boardwalk, and sunset at Liming Lake in the evening🌅. Return to Sartu for the night; it's convenient for dining and shopping near Dongfeng Xincun. Day 2 Grassland & Hot Spring route: Hire a car to Dorbod (2-hour drive, about 80 per person for a shared ride), take photos at Amuta Mongolian Style Island, eat some roasted lamb, and then head to Lianhuan Lake Hot Spring in the afternoon for a soak🛁. The September autumn chill makes outdoor hot springs perfect, and the night tickets are cheaper too. You can book attraction tickets, hot spring packages, and car hires all in one go on Trip.com, which is much less of a headache than buying them on-site. ⚠️ Tips to avoid pitfalls | I've already made these mistakes for you The temperature difference between morning and evening in September is ridiculously huge🌡, with lows of 9°C and highs of 24°C. You'll be wearing a camisole at noon and freezing to death in the morning and evening. A light sweater + jacket is standard. Don't be like me and wear a dress + sandals on the first day; the wind hit and I suffered, ending up drinking ginger tea at the hotel for three days. I really don't recommend going out on rainy days🚫. There's usually some light rain and cooling around September 7th. The wetland boardwalks get slippery after rain, and my white sneakers were basically ruined—I was so stupidly upset at the time. Museums and the Iron Man Memorial Hall are closed on Mondays and require reservations 1–3 days in advance. Don't be silly and show up on a Monday; the doors will be locked and you'll be devastated. Don't fly drones in the wetlands; there are no-fly zones, and the forest rangers will actually come to stop you. When birdwatching, don't feed or disturb them—be a civilized photographer. Don't buy scalper tickets for hot springs at the entrance; it's easy to get scammed. Book in advance on Trip.com—Lianhuan Lake starts from 85, and Northland Hot Spring is 118. The prices are clear and reliable. If there's a warning sign in the oilfield operation area, steer clear. Don't get too close for photos; safety first. Taxis start at 7, and you can get around the city for 10–20. For Dorbod, I recommend hiring a car for about 300 per day. Public transport takes too long, and feeling like you're spending your whole vacation on the road is truly soul-crushing. In short: Daqing is truly beautiful in September. As long as you don't make silly mistakes with your clothing and itinerary, this trip to the Oil City is definitely worth the price of admission💯.

September in Daqing has just shed the summer heat. The vast reed marshes are slowly turning golden, pumpjacks turn lazily in the wetlands, and the scent of hay drifts across the grasslands. With the summer crowds gone and the peak autumn season yet to arrive, it is the perfect time for great value on food, accommodation, and activities. This itinerary skips the usual tourist spots like the Iron Man Memorial Hall and Longfeng Wetland, taking you on local, off-the-beaten-path routes—exploring old oil fields, drifting through reed marshes, and visiting Mongolian villages. Tested and verified, no tourist traps here. Day 1: Oil City nostalgia | Autumn days in the old mining district In the morning, head to the Daqing Oilfield National Mine Park. It is free to enter, closed on Mondays, and accessible via the No. 12 bus. Do not just take photos at the gate; head inside to see the authentic old well platforms, oil unloading stations, and 1960s worker dorms. The well-drilling simulation allows you to touch old-style drill pipes. The whole visit takes about 1.5 hours and helps you understand the origins of the Oil City—much more comfortable than squeezing into popular memorial halls. For lunch, go to Lao Sa'ertu Braised Meat Restaurant, a shop that has been open for over 30 years next to Huizhan Avenue and only serves lunch. The braised meat is tender and flavorful, fatty but not greasy, served with a bowl of rice and refreshing pickled cabbage soup. It costs about CNY 25 per person to eat your fill. Go before 11:00 AM to avoid waiting; it is frequented by local workers from the area. In the afternoon, head to the Oil Extraction Plant No. 5 wetland area, a 30-minute taxi ride from the city center. It is a free, wild scenic spot. Large stretches of reed marshes are dotted with pumpjacks. In September, the reeds start to turn yellow, and as the wind blows, the reed waves roll while the pumpjacks move slowly up and down—the industrial vibe and rustic charm make for great photos. Locals fish nearby; just find a safe dirt slope to sit and enjoy the breeze, but do not wander into the work zones. In the evening, go to Yigeng Night Market, which opens after 5:00 PM. You must try the Daqing-style pit barbecue—potatoes and pork belly wrapped in foil and buried in a charcoal pit to cook until fragrant and juicy. Pair it with a bottle of Big White Pear soda for a satisfying meal for about CNY 30. Day 2: Drifting through the reed sea | Autumn scenery in Dorbod In the morning, drive for 1 hour to Yantongtun Wild Wetland. It is much less crowded than Dangnai Wetland. Villagers operate bamboo rafts for CNY 30 per person. Drifting through the reed marshes on a raft, with reeds taller than a person on both sides, is a golden sight in September. Occasionally, water birds will flutter out. It is so quiet that only the sound of the pole hitting the water can be heard. The whole drift takes 1.5 hours, offering a fully authentic, natural experience. For lunch, eat at Li Family Iron Pot Stew in town. Freshly slaughtered goose with hazel mushrooms, with corn cakes stuck to the side of the pot—the cakes soak up the soup and are crispy and fragrant. It costs about CNY 50 per person to eat until you are full, all using fresh local ingredients. In the afternoon, go to the north shore of Xiaoxi Lake, a free, undeveloped lakeshore. Follow the dirt road inward; a row of birch trees along the shore is green with hints of yellow in early September. The lake surface is as calm as a mirror, reflecting the blue sky, white clouds, and tree shadows. Locals often come here to picnic and fish. There are almost no tourists, and you can sit for an entire afternoon without getting bored. In the evening, stay in Taikang Town, Dorbod. A standard room in a chain hotel is around CNY 110. There is food right downstairs, offering great value. Day 3: Mongolian village life | Slow times in grassland villages In the morning, drive for 40 minutes to Dongtumo Village, an authentic Mongolian village that is not commercialized. Stroll along the village roads; the roadside is lined with low courtyards where dairy products are dried. September happens to be the hay-cutting season, and the grasslands outside the village are piled with round haystacks, a golden sight. Find a herdsman's home to drink freshly boiled salted milk tea, served with milk tofu and fried rice, for CNY 10 per person—very authentic. For lunch, eat at a Mongolian family restaurant in the village. Hand-grabbed meat is sold by weight; the freshly boiled lamb is tender and juicy. Order a plate of blood sausage as well. It costs about CNY 60 per person to eat your fill, all with the taste of local lamb. In the afternoon, return via the Lin-Zhao Highway. Both sides are golden grasslands and haystacks. The road is smooth with little traffic. Driving with the windows open and feeling the grassland breeze is very healing. Leaving after 2:00 PM is just right to get back to the city. Practical tips · Clothing: In September, the daytime temperature is around 20°C, dropping to around 8°C at night. A thin windbreaker and long-sleeve T-shirt are essential. It is windy in the wetlands and grasslands. · Transport: Attractions are scattered. Renting a car or hiring a driver is recommended; CNY 280 per day is more worry-free than taking a bus. City attractions are accessible by bus. · Avoid traps: Do not enter oilfield work zones at will. There are many mosquitoes in the wetlands, so bring mosquito repellent. The UV rays are strong on the grasslands, so pay attention to sun protection. · Accommodation: Staying in Sa'ertu District in the city is close to the old town and convenient for eating and shopping. Staying in Taikang Town is the most cost-effective option when visiting Dorbod. You can fully enjoy the trip for about CNY 1,000 per person. The beauty of Daqing has never been in the popular tourist spots, but in the rotation of the pumpjacks, the sound of the wind in the reed marshes, and the fragrance of milk tea in the Mongolian villages. Come in September when it is quiet and uncrowded, and take your time to savor the rustic charm of this Oil City.

Daqing 2-Day, 1-Night Road Trip Guide (Summer Edition) Day 1: City culture + wetlands (stay within the city, easy parking) In the morning, drive to the Iron Man Wang Jinxi Memorial Hall. It is free; please reserve in advance via the official account. Experience the history of the Oilfield Battle immersively. There is ample parking at the exhibition hall. At noon, have a nearby meal of Daqing's specialty pit barbecue, featuring potatoes and roasted lamb chops for an authentic Northeast flavor. In the afternoon, head straight to Longfeng Wetland Park. It is a free urban wetland where you can walk along wooden boardwalks through reed marshes. In summer, you can take a boat to watch water birds, go camping, or have a picnic. You can drive directly to the parking lot. In the evening, drive to Liming Lake. Take a walk around the lake to see the sunset over the water and the night view of the winding boardwalk. The evening breeze is pleasant, and it is a free leisure spot. For accommodation, choose a chain hotel near Sa'ertu Wanda for convenient dining and departure the next day. Day 2: Grassland and lake view road trip (round trip to Dorbod, about 1 hour drive) In the morning, drive to the Lianhuan Lake Hot Spring Scenic Area in Dorbod. In summer, the focus is on boating on the lake and relaxing by the shore—you do not have to just soak in the hot springs. Eighteen lakes are connected, offering expansive views of the grassland and lakes. In the afternoon, head back. On the way, stop by the Urban Forest Park. It features large areas of woods and lawns, a free natural oxygen bar, and trails for a relaxing walk before ending the trip. Road trip tips 1. All city attractions are free; bring your ID card. In summer, take sun protection measures and bring mosquito repellent. 2. The route from the city to Dorbod is entirely on national highways with smooth road conditions, making for an easy drive. 3. Try to avoid the midday sun; visiting the wetlands in the morning or evening offers a better experience.

If you want to catch the county anniversary vibe in September without turning your weekend into a rush, this route keeps the driving within Dorbod County. See the grasslands at Qingqing Grassland, experience Mongolian culture at Amuta, and finish with the Lianhuan Lake hot springs. It's perfect for friends carpooling from Daqing, Qiqihar, or Harbin. 🚗 Aim for departure dates around September 7–9 to match the timing. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism has scheduled the 70th-anniversary celebration of the Dorbod Mongolian Autonomous County for these three days. Please check the organizer's latest announcements closer to your departure for specific performance times and locations; don't rely solely on travel guides for the schedule. Start by driving to Qingqing Grassland Ranch, leaving enough time during the day to enjoy the grasslands without rushing. It's a great place to park and take your time exploring the horse farm and open fields. Don't count on horseback riding being guaranteed; availability, weather, and on-site arrangements are subject to change. 🌾 Amuta Mongolian Cultural Island is a great next stop after the grasslands. It's featured on the official autumn route, offering a mix of lakeside meadows, Mongolian cultural experiences, and scenery. For the best photos, visit between the afternoon and evening when the light is softer. If it's crowded due to events, check the on-site crowd control and entry guidelines before deciding how long to stay. The most important trade-off to make in advance is deciding whether to prioritize "watching performances" or "strolling along the lake." If you want to catch the county anniversary events or intangible cultural heritage activities, allow more time at Amuta. If you prefer a relaxing road trip, a walk along the lake, viewing the cultural architecture, and seeing the edge of the grasslands is a complete experience on its own. 🎭 Saving the Lianhuan Lake hot springs for the last night is the most convenient option and fits better with your energy levels. Spend the day outdoors walking through the grasslands and along the lake, then head to the hot spring area in the evening to avoid extra trips back to your accommodation. Information regarding hot spring availability, entry rules, and reservation requirements can change, so please confirm directly with the scenic area before you leave. ♨️ There's no need to keep changing hotels. Stay in the same area near Lianhuan Lake for both nights, or choose one area within the county based on your daily route. This allows you to travel light to Amuta the next day and head straight to the hot springs afterward. When planning your drive, consider navigation, refueling, and your return trip at night. Also, remember to pack a jacket, as temperatures in Northeast China can fluctuate significantly between morning and evening in early autumn. If you're traveling with seniors or prefer a slower pace, you can skip physically demanding activities like horseback riding and stick to the grasslands, the lakeside at Amuta, and the hot springs. If your companions are more interested in the festivities, adjust your first day by checking for event information upon arrival, then decide the order of the two scenic spots accordingly. Don't try to cram every experience into one trip. 🧥 Before heading home, stop by the lake for ten minutes. The reeds, the calm lake, and the low autumn light perfectly bridge the gap between the lively performances and the relaxation of the hot springs. This route is perfect for those who want to enjoy cultural activities during a short break while also having a relaxed driving experience.

🍂 Just back from Daqing, and I have to say: if you're looking for a city with comfortable autumn weather, few crowds, beautiful scenery, and budget-friendly prices, Daqing is truly underrated! In September, Daqing sheds the summer heat, and the air begins to carry that crispness unique to autumn in Northeast China. The grasslands, wetlands, and lakes are slowly being painted in autumn colors, and the leaves along the streets are starting to turn yellow—it's incredibly pleasant just to walk around. The biggest takeaway from this trip is that while Daqing isn't a "viral tourist city" in the traditional sense, it has its own unique romance—oil culture, vast wetlands, the vibrant local life of the Northeast, and that slow, leisurely city pace. ✨ If you enjoy niche travel and want to avoid the crowds, Daqing in September is definitely worth planning for. 💰 Real costs | 3 days, 2 nights, relaxed version 🏨 Accommodation: Budget: Express hotels in the city center are about 150–250 CNY/night, clean and convenient Mid-range: Business hotels and quality homestays are about 300–500 CNY/night Upscale: Lakeside resort hotels are 500 CNY and up, perfect for those looking to relax Two nights' accommodation: About 300–1,000 CNY 🍜 Dining: Dining in Daqing offers great value Breakfast: 10–20 CNY/person Main meals: Northeast Chinese cuisine portions are generous; just soak in the city atmosphere 🌾 Day 2: Longfeng Wetland → Daqing Grassland → Northeast specialty dinner Head to Longfeng Wetland in the morning The wetland scenery is beautiful in autumn; I recommend walking slowly instead of just taking photos Have Northeast Chinese cuisine for lunch Go to Daqing Grassland in the afternoon to see the vast scenery Have barbecue or "tie guo dun" (iron pot stew) for dinner to experience Northeast nightlife 🔥 ♨️ Day 3: Lianhuan Lake → City stroll → Departure Go to Lianhuan Lake in the morning to relax Soak in the hot springs and enjoy the autumn scenery to slow down the pace of your trip Return to the city in the afternoon to buy some local Northeast specialties Head home feeling refreshed 🍜 Top 5 food recommendations 🥇 Northeast iron pot stew A must-try when visiting the Northeast A hot pot of stew with chicken, ribs, and various side dishes—perfect for autumn 🥈 Daqing barbecue Sitting down for barbecue at night is an essential part of a Northeast trip Meat skewers, grilled cold noodles, and local side dishes are all worth trying 🥉 Guo bao rou (sweet and sour pork) Sweet, sour, and crispy—almost a mandatory dish in the Northeast ⭐ Northeast dumplings Thin skin and generous filling; great for experiencing local home-style flavors ⭐ "Sha zhu cai" (pork feast) A traditional Northeast dish; try it if you like rich flavors ❌ Not recommended: Tourist restaurants that are expensive but average in taste; The underrated northern oil city 😭 A 5-day slow trip to Daqing completely reshaped my travel spending habits Seriously! I originally thought Daqing was all about industrial vibes ✨, but after five days of relaxed exploration, I'm completely smitten! So many free museums, affordable hot springs, and incredibly generous portions of Northeastern cuisine, with no hidden tricks or inflated prices. It's a low-cost way to unlock a healing journey in the northern land! 🛏️🌆Day 1: First encounter with the city | Discover the oil city's heritage for free Arriving in Daqing, my happiness level was off the charts 😌! I chose an affordable guesthouse in the city center, which was clean, comfortable, and offered excellent value for money 💰. In the afternoon, I visited the Iron Man Wang Jinxi Memorial Hall 📜 for free, immersing myself in the inspiring history of oil exploration. The exhibits were rich, and it wasn't crowded. In the evening, I strolled by Liming Lake 🌊. The evening breeze over the lake was incredibly soothing, and the city's night view was perfect for gentle photos 🌃. For dinner, I went to a local Northeastern home-style restaurant. The Guo Bao Rou (sweet and sour pork) was crispy and delicious, and for about 40 CNY per person, I ate until I was stuffed. My initial impression was absolutely fantastic! ⛽📸Day 2: Industrial exploration | Free photo opportunities with a hardcore industrial vibe I spent the whole day visiting Daqing's iconic oil city landmarks ✅! The Daqing Museum offers free reservations 📸, allowing you to understand the city's development history, with rich and meaningful collections. In the outdoor oilfield area, pumping units ⛰️ are everywhere. The vast plains combined with the mechanical landscape make for unique industrial blockbusters. Prices around the scenic area are incredibly reasonable; bottled water and snacks are sold at fair prices, perfectly avoiding any tourist traps 🥷! 🌿🌲Day 3: Forest wetlands | Natural oxygen bar for summer escape and relaxation I explored Daqing's pristine natural beauty 🍃! I visited Longfeng National Forest Park, where the lush greenery and fresh air make it a natural secret spot for "lung cleansing" 🌬. The forest trails are gentle and easy to walk, perfect for strolling, unwinding, and relaxing ☀️. The portions at nearby farm-style eateries are incredibly generous, with authentic cold wild vegetables and Northeastern stews offering excellent value for money 🥘. The entire park has few tourists, making it quiet and therapeutic, allowing you to enjoy the pristine northern scenery for free! ♨️💦Day 4: Lianhuan Lake Hot Springs | Affordable winter fun A must-try natural hot spring experience unique to the northern land ✨! The natural sulfur hot spring water at Lianhuan Lake is superb ♨️, with many themed pools to choose from. After soaking, my whole body felt relaxed and refreshed. After getting tired from exploring, soaking in the hot springs was incredibly pleasant! The simple meals nearby were affordable and clean, making the travel expenses very manageable. 🔥🍢Day 5: Food tour finale | Savoring Daqing's authentic local flavors On the last day, I indulged in a food feast 😋! The special Daqing pit roast 🔥 is a must-try. The pit-roasted potatoes, sweet potatoes, and lamb ribs were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. At a farm-style restaurant, I ate until I couldn't move for about 50 CNY per person. There was also a fresh and flavorful whole fish banquet, soft and sticky bean buns, and authentic Northeastern skewers 🍡—every dish was a hit! There were so many affordable local specialties 🎁, like grains and dried goods, perfect as souvenirs without breaking the bank! 💡💰Five heartfelt reflections I used to think northern travel was expensive and offered fewer activities 💸, but coming to Daqing completely reshaped my spending habits! It offers free cultural museums, pristine wetland forests, and affordable hot springs and delicious food, all covered. The local customs are simple, and commercialization is very low. There are no trendy gimmicks or hidden costs; you can have a fulfilling and healing trip on a low budget ✨. This hidden gem of an oil city is truly worth visiting!

Honestly! Daqing is stunning, but I truly don’t recommend visiting in August or September😭 I’ve seen many people follow the summer and early autumn trend to rush to Daqing! As a local who just explored Daqing in depth, here’s a heartfelt truth✨ Daqing’s beauty is healing and vast, off the beaten path and non-commercial, clean and relaxed. But August and September are honestly the worst times to visit all year! No filters, no hype or bashing—read this and then decide if you want to go! 🌿 First, let me rave! Why is Daqing so worth visiting? Many people only associate Daqing with oil fields and the Iron Man spirit! Those who have truly been here know this northern oil city hides an incredible sense of calm. It’s a seriously underrated gem in Heilongjiang! ✅ Everywhere you go, healing natural beauty No crowds, just vast stretches of pristine wetlands, grasslands, and lakes! Sunsets at Longfeng Wetland, the expansive grasslands of Duerbert, the clear waters of Lianhuan Lake— everywhere you look, endless wild landscapes. The sky feels so low you can almost touch it, with blue skies and white clouds perfect for photos! ✅ The city is clean and peaceful The city layout is very orderly, with wide, tidy roads and lots of greenery. The air is fresh, the pace slow, without the noise of big cities. The locals are simple and friendly, and safety is excellent—perfect for solo travelers and family trips! ✅ Rich cultural heritage More than just natural scenery, it’s a city with warmth and heroism. Visit the Iron Man Wang Jinxi Memorial Hall and Daqing Museum to understand the oil city’s story of hard work. A niche red tourism experience that’s healing and educational, with a strong atmosphere! ✅ Low prices with great value Accommodation, food, and expenses are very affordable, with no overcharging or tricks. Perfect for short trips or weekend getaways—an affordable, fully healing journey! ❌ Important warning! Don’t blindly rush to Daqing in August or September! Why is it so beautiful but these two months are strongly discouraged? These are real travel pain points—hit one and your whole trip is ruined! 1️⃣ Continuous rain, gray skies all the time with no good photos Over 90% of Daqing’s annual rainfall happens from April to September, with August and September at the peak! It rains almost every other day, with overcast skies, light rain, and showers alternating. The sky is foggy and gray all year round, so you won’t see Daqing’s signature clear blue sky. The vast, healing wild landscapes turn dull and oppressive. No matter how carefully you dress or pose, photos come out washed out and gray, with no atmosphere or vibe! 2️⃣ Hot and sticky, extremely uncomfortable Don’t think northern summers are cool! August in Daqing is a typical humid sauna. Temperatures aren’t extremely high, but humidity is very high! Walking outside feels hot and sticky, clothes cling uncomfortably. You sweat even without moving, feeling stuffy and suffocated with no freshness. September brings early autumn with big temperature swings between day and night. Hot and humid days, then suddenly cold nights that chill to the bone—this rapid change makes it easy to catch a cold. Dressing is tricky—summer clothes feel cold, autumn clothes feel hot—making travel awkward! 3️⃣ Mosquitoes everywhere, outdoor activities become torture This is the deadliest trap in Daqing in August and September! Wetlands, grasslands, and lakeside spots are swarming with mosquitoes, especially at dusk. They’re big and dense, and mosquito repellent barely works. Visiting Longfeng Wetland, Amuta Grassland, or Garidi Scenic Area, even a few minutes of stopping means covered in bites. Families and women will really suffer! 4️⃣ Scenery declines, missing the best beauty season Daqing’s stunning scenery centers on green grass, blue skies, and clear water. By late August, grasslands start to yellow, losing the lush green of midsummer. September’s autumn wind dries the grass and some plants wither. The wild landscapes lose much of their charm, with a sharp drop in visual appeal. No fresh spring or summer vibes, no rich golden autumn layers—scenery feels plain! 5️⃣ Poor travel experience, a hassle all the way Daqing’s attractions are very spread out, with long distances between areas, so you rely on driving or private car hire. In August and September, rainy roads are slippery and humid, reducing visibility and making driving unpleasant. Plus, many outdoor camping, grassland visits, and lakeside walks can’t be enjoyed properly in bad weather, cutting your itinerary in half! Early autumn is also a transition between peak and off-season, so some niche spots may be under maintenance, lowering the experience quality! ✅ Best time to visit Daqing (follow this exactly) ▫️ June to July early summer: the best time all year! Cool temperatures, lush green grass, clear blue skies, fewer mosquitoes, more sunny days. Green grasslands and clear lakes make every photo a healing wild masterpiece. All outdoor activities are available with a perfect experience💯 ▫️ October late autumn: a niche, stunning season! Clear skies, crisp air, the whole city covered in golden hues. Reeds sway in the wetlands, creating a poetic atmosphere. Few people and peaceful scenery make it very healing. ▫️ December to February winter: northern snow city vibe Thousands of miles frozen, snow everywhere, unlocking a niche northern snow scene that’s quiet and romantic. 📍 Must-visit hidden gems (avoid rushing in August and September) 1. Longfeng Wetland Nature Reserve Asia’s largest urban wetland! Super healing on sunny days. Sunset reeds, flying water birds, vast lakes—heal all your worries. Avoid rainy and overcast days for the best atmosphere. 2. Duerbert Grassland + Amuta Scenic Area No need to go to Inner Mongolia! You can experience vast grasslands in Daqing. Sunny blue skies with white clouds and green grass, perfect for horseback riding and camping. Avoid early autumn’s dry grass season for amazing photos. 3. Iron Man Wang Jinxi Memorial Hall Free cultural landmark! Learn about the oil city’s history of struggle. Solemn and healing, great for study tours, families, and couples. 4. Daqing Museum A niche treasure museum to immerse yourself in the city’s heritage. Rich exhibits, few visitors, quiet—leaves you fulfilled. 5. Lianhuan Lake Hot Spring Scenic Area Clear lake water, healing scenery, perfect for vacation and relaxation. Visit outside the rainy season for comfortable lakeside walks and light vacations. 🍜 Must-try local foods in Daqing Visiting Daqing isn’t just about the sights—its food won’t disappoint! ✅ Daqing pit roast: local signature dish, meat is crispy and flavorful with a smoky aroma ✅ Iron pot stew: authentic northeastern flavors, ribs stewed with beans, chicken stewed with mushrooms, very appetizing ✅ Wetland fish feast: fresh lake fish, original flavor, delicious without being greasy ✅ Sticky bean buns and sweet and sour pork: classic northeastern snacks, sweet, sour, crispy, authentic taste 🎒 Travel outfits and essentials ▪️ Best seasons: light long sleeves + long pants, bring a light jacket for mornings and evenings, comfortable and adaptable ▪️ Be cautious in August and September: humid and stuffy, big temperature swings, lots of mosquitoes, bad for photos ▪️ Essentials: strong mosquito repellent, umbrella, jacket for temperature changes, moisturizing skincare ✍️ Final heartfelt summary Daqing is truly an underrated gentle city. Vast, clean, healing, niche, and affordable. Spring and summer bring lush healing greenery, late autumn offers a rich atmosphere, and winter is quiet and romantic. Only August and September have too much rain, mosquitoes, poor scenery, and uncomfortable weather. I sincerely don’t recommend following the crowd to check it off your list! To unlock the most beautiful Daqing, choose the right season! Travel off-peak to enjoy the full northern wild romance✨

🚉Transportation guide: Amuta Scenic Area is located in Dorbod County, Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province. It’s a 66 km drive from the county center to the scenic area, with grasslands and lakes along the way. There are several free parking lots inside the park. 💰Average cost per person: Admission is 28 yuan. Free for people with disability certificates, those over 70 with ID, and children under 1.2 meters. Animal interaction costs 30 yuan. Water playground is 58 yuan for unlimited visits all day, and each time you can bring a different adult. Water tractor ride lasts 20 minutes and costs 120 yuan. Up to 4 adults can bring 1 child. Horse riding: small loop 50 yuan, trot on large loop 100 yuan. Camel riding allows 1 adult and 1 child for 50 yuan. The park offers hot pot and iron pot stew at reasonable prices without tourist markups. 🗓Itinerary: The entrance leads directly to horse and camel riding. Guys should try the 100 yuan large loop for the real horse riding experience. The small loop suits kids, women, and seniors. It’s not small and offers a great experience. After horse riding, you’ll reach photo spot 4. Take pictures, then head to the white house on the right side of spot 4, which is very photogenic. Spots 5, 6, and 7 are also inside. This white house is where you can enjoy hot pot. The food tastes good, prices are fair, and the air conditioning is cool. After taking photos at spot 4, head left with kids to see the animals. There aren’t many species, but it’s only 30 yuan. Exiting the zoo brings you to the beach and water playground. The sand is soft and comfortable. On sunny days, wear socks at the playground to avoid burning your feet [Facepalm]. After water activities, you can have hot pot or drive further inside to find other restaurants. After eating, visit the hot air balloon and Amuta Eye for photos, then explore the Mongolian culture museum inside. ✅Must-try: I highly recommend the hot pot, mainly because it’s a great photo spot, very photogenic [Grin]. The 100 yuan large horse loop is thrilling. I’m a bit scared of camel riding. The water tractor on the beach is very cool. If you like it, give it a try or share a ride with others. For 120 yuan, you get 20 minutes for up to 4 people, whether you know each other or not [Askance]. 📝Tips: To save money, bring your own snacks and water. Entry and enjoying the scenery, water, and beach is 28 yuan per person, offering great value. If you want to do everything, buy a combo ticket but be sure to check what it includes. There are restrooms, changing rooms, and foot washing stations near the beach for convenience. I’ve been to many places, popular attractions, and big cities, but this time I want to recommend my hometown, Dorbod Mongol Autonomous County. Here you’ll find the Amuta Scenic Area with Inner Mongolia grassland features; Mongolian yurts serving whole roasted lamb, roasted leg of lamb, lamb chops, beef jerky, and Inner Mongolia milk tea; and the Lianhuan Lake hot spring area with hot springs and outdoor pools. Visitors from afar are welcome.

July in the oil city is seriously underrated 🌿 The wind messed up my bangs, but with the hundred lakes, the pumpjack, and the wetland sunset all together, that rough yet romantic northeastern vibe makes everyone want to post nine photos 📸 🚌 Let’s get the transportation details clear first Daqing is divided into Sartu, Ranghulu, and Longfeng districts, with attractions scattered like sesame seeds. The high-speed train arrives at Daqing East or West station, so choose your hotel accordingly. Taxi fares in the city start around 6 to 7 yuan. Shared electric bikes are everywhere, and riding one to the wetland entrance is pretty nice, though the July midday sun can be brutal 🥵 No public buses go to far spots like Duerbert or Lianhuan Lake. Renting a car or booking a private ride is best. You can usually ask your hotel front desk to help arrange a carpool. 🎫 Don’t miss ticket reservations The Iron Man Wang Jinxi Memorial Hall is free but requires real-name timed reservations through the official WeChat account. Bring your ID to enter at your scheduled time. Closed every Monday ⚠️ Daqing Petroleum Museum is also free, located at 6A Dongfeng Road, Century Avenue, Sartu District. Open from 9 AM to 4 PM. Longfeng Wetland is free and open all day. Parking costs 5 yuan per hour—don’t get overcharged. Lianhuan Lake hot spring tickets are slightly cheaper on Trip.com than at the gate. On weekends, book a day in advance to avoid frustration at the entrance 😅 Key point: memorial halls and museums close on Mondays, so don’t schedule visits then. 🍜 Local food recommendations Iron pot stewed goose with flatbread—dip the bread in the broth and you can eat two bowls of rice 🦆 Duerbert hand-pulled lamb dipped in chive flower sauce, so tender you won’t want to say a word 🐑 Daqing pit roast—potatoes, eggs, and sweet potatoes slow-cooked in a pit, smelling irresistibly good 🥔 Lianhuan Lake wild fish stewed with tofu, the milky broth is unbelievably fresh 🐟 Night market grilled cold noodles with sausage and spicy strips—the northeastern version is the real deal 🌶️ Yigeng Night Market is the liveliest spot in Sartu for food and shopping. Xincun Night Market attracts younger crowds, and Ranghulu Night Market is popular with locals for its great value. 📸 Photo spots picked just for you Longfeng Wetland boardwalk is best at 6–8 AM when migratory birds are most active, and 5–7 PM when the sunset turns the wetland golden 🌅 From the wetland monitoring tower, you can shoot the sea of reeds below—50.5 square kilometers of green waves look like a spilled paint palette. The Petroleum Museum’s 4D oil extraction theater corridor has an industrial vibe with red and black colors and a pumpjack backdrop, perfect for a cool girl look 🛢️ The Iron Man Museum’s 47-meter-high building symbolizes Wang Jinxi’s 47 years of life, and shooting it from below creates a powerful sense of scale. At night, soak in the Lianhuan Lake hot spring while stargazing. The water’s reflection combined with long-exposure phone shots will make your social feed legendary ✨ The Dawn Lake heart corridor during blue hour is a local hangout with a high chance of great shots. 🌦️ Three-day, two-night itinerary Day 1 afternoon: arrive and cool off at the Petroleum Museum, then visit the Iron Man Museum (remember to book ahead), and finish the evening at Ranghulu Night Market for snacks. Day 2 morning: stroll the Longfeng Wetland boardwalk. Around noon, drive about 1.5 hours to Duerbert. Spend the afternoon on the grasslands, and soak in the Lianhuan Lake hot spring at night while watching the stars ♨️ Day 3: visit Heming Lake where July lotus flowers are just blooming, fewer people than Longfeng. After shooting, return to the city to buy some local specialties before leaving. ⚠️ Avoid pitfalls July in Daqing is 30°C during the day and 20°C at night, with a big temperature difference. Bring a light jacket 🌤️ Short showers are common, so carry a folding umbrella. The grasslands are windy, so sunglasses and a sun hat protect against strong light and dust 🌬️ Wetlands have lots of mosquitoes. Long pants and high-strength insect repellent are essential. Light-colored clothes easily get stained with mud. Always bring your own swimsuit for the hot springs; buying one on-site is very expensive 💰 Don’t buy souvenirs at the attraction entrances; city supermarkets sell them for half the price. Both the Petroleum Museum and Iron Man Museum require an ID card; no ID means no entry 🪪 July in the oil city has very strong UV rays ☀️ Short sleeves with a light sun-protective shirt are the right choice. Expect to spend 700 to 900 yuan per person. Stay in Sartu or Longfeng districts for easy access to food and parks right downstairs. The high-speed train from Harbin takes about an hour and costs 50 yuan, allowing same-day round trips, but we really recommend staying two nights—the summer in the city of a hundred lakes is worth savoring slowly 🌊

Oil city with a hundred charms, lakes nourishing the northern frontier | Daqing three-day full-region deep travel guide Most people associate Daqing only with oil pumps and the petroleum industry, unaware that this northern frontier city is a hidden gem boasting hundreds of lakes, wetlands, grassland hot springs, and rich cultural heritage. Here, the majestic industrial spirit coexists with the gentle charm of water towns. Vast grasslands paired with clear lakes, red-themed educational history blending with everyday city life, no crowded crowds, diverse landscapes, and a relaxed pace. You can both learn about the history of China’s petroleum development and immerse yourself in the northern water town and grassland scenery. Travel and accommodation guide Daqing’s attractions are mainly divided into two core areas: the urban cultural wetlands and the Duerbote grassland hot springs. Driving is the best way to get around. City roads are wide and smooth, and suburban roads are well maintained, with continuous lake and grassland views along the way. Urban attractions are dense, making short taxi rides or cycling around the lake very convenient. Accommodation can be chosen based on your needs. For convenient transportation and concentrated dining options, the Sartu and Longfeng district downtown business areas are the best choice, with complete facilities and worry-free travel. For an immersive vacation experience, we recommend staying at guesthouses in the Lianhuan Lake scenic area, where you can see the lake from your window and privately enjoy sunset hot springs and a peaceful night sky. The local climate has a large temperature difference between day and night. The suburban grasslands and lake areas are quite windy, so bring a light jacket for all seasons. The lake and wetland areas have dense vegetation and many mosquitoes, so mosquito repellent is recommended. The cuisine combines northeastern home-style flavors with regional specialties, featuring hearty pit-roasted dishes, fresh lake seafood, and authentic iron pot stews, offering rich flavors and great value. Three-day essential itinerary Day 1 Trace the roots of the oil city and check in at city landmarks The first day focuses on an industrial and cultural tour to understand Daqing’s city foundation. In the morning, visit the Wang Jinxi Memorial Hall. As a symbol of the city’s spirit, the hall displays old artifacts, historical footage, and recreated scenes that fully showcase the heroic years of the petroleum battle and the iron man spirit of hard work. It is free to the public but closed on Mondays, so plan accordingly. In the afternoon, visit the Daqing Museum. The museum’s treasure is a complete mammoth fossil that is truly impressive. The exhibition clearly outlines the ancient ecology of the Songnen Plain, prehistoric civilizations, and the development of Daqing city, combining education and visual appeal. Then take a stroll through Times Square, the city’s core landmark, with its expansive flower beds, making it a perfect spot for relaxing walks and cityscape photos. In the evening, walk slowly around Liming Lake and Binzhou Lake, watching the evening breeze ripple across the water and the sunset spread over the river, experiencing the gentle side of this steel and oil city. After dark, explore the city streets to discover authentic local snacks. Day 2 Wander the hundred-lake wetlands and encounter the northern water town Spend the whole day immersed in natural ecological scenery. In the morning, head to Longfeng Wetland, Asia’s largest urban native wetland, with endless reeds covering thousands of acres, crisscrossing waterways, and migrating birds fluttering. Walk along the wooden boardwalk deep into the reed sea, climb the birdwatching tower for a panoramic view of the wetland, where clear lakes and green reeds create a healing atmosphere. You can also take a boat through the reed maze to get up close to wild water birds. In the afternoon, visit Zhaoyuan Xihai Wetland Park, where thousands of lotus flowers bloom in midsummer, with green leaves stretching to the sky and the fragrance filling the air. The lotus pond boardwalk winds and twists, offering scenic views at every step. Leisurely check out the wetland fountains and waterside trails to fully experience the unique charm of northern lotus ponds. In the evening, go to Tiedong Village to try Daqing’s signature pit-roasted cuisine, ending a relaxing and healing nature trip. Day 3 Head to the grasslands, lakes, and hot springs to experience Mongolian culture On the last day, travel to Duerbote, where grasslands, lakes, and hot springs come together in one place. In the morning, visit Amuta Mongolian Style Island, where the vast grasslands stretch endlessly, with green grass and refreshing evening breezes. You can experience horseback riding, try on Mongolian costumes, and immerse yourself in the simple Mongolian folk customs, far from the city’s noise. In the afternoon, explore the Lianhuan Lake scenic area, where 18 natural lakes connect to form a large water area with clear water. You can boat on the lake, play in the shallows, visit popular lakeside attractions, and after tiring yourself out, enjoy the natural hot springs, alternating between hot and cold to soothe travel fatigue. In the evening, watch the sunset over the lake, with the glow spreading across the water, creating a stunning atmosphere. Must-try specialties Daqing pit roast: A local hardcore specialty where pork belly, goose eggs, potatoes, and sweet potatoes are buried in a pit and slow-roasted, locking in original flavors. Crispy outside, tender inside, and richly aromatic, it’s a must-try signature dish. Lianhuan Lake whole fish feast: Wild fish and shrimp from the lakes prepared in various ways such as clear stew, braised in sauce, and steamed. The meat is tender with no fishy smell, fresh and flavorful, showcasing the true taste of northern lake seafood. Northeastern iron pot stew: Stewed goose with hazel mushrooms and fish pot served with corn pancakes. The broth is rich and flavorful, the ingredients well-seasoned, and the pancakes soak up the soup, offering authentic northeastern home-style flavors. Special snacks: Daqing roast chicken, traditional cold noodles, and cold mixed wild vegetables, combining meat and vegetables for a refreshing taste that suits all preferences. Helpful travel tips 1. Major exhibition halls and memorials are closed on Mondays. Plan your trip in advance to avoid wasted trips. Some venues require online reservations. 2. Wetlands and lotus pond boardwalks can be slippery due to moisture. Be careful when near the water and avoid deep water areas. Use mosquito protection in forest and lake areas. 3. The grasslands have a large temperature difference between day and night, with noticeable cooling and strong winds in the evening. Dress warmly to avoid catching a cold. 4. Bring swimwear for the Lianhuan Lake hot spring area, as on-site purchases are less cost-effective. Respect local customs when visiting the grasslands and avoid trampling vegetation. 5. Suburban attractions are far from the city center. Plan your travel time in advance and bring water and snacks. For local specialties, shopping in city supermarkets offers better value. Half industrial spirit, half lake gentleness, Daqing breaks stereotypes with its wetlands, grasslands, hot springs, and diverse cultural landscapes. It offers a relaxed, poetic experience unique to the northern frontier, making it a year-round, all-ages, off-the-beaten-path vacation destination.

Core positioning: Marriott quality unique to northern Xinjiang Key point first! Daqing Fuli Sheraton is currently the Marriott Sheraton brand hotel located farthest north in China. It’s also the only official international five-star chain hotel in the entire city of Daqing. The hotel officially opened in 2011 and underwent a full renovation in 2019. It has been operating for over a decade, with ownership transferring from Wanda to Fuli. Compared to the cluster of Marriott hotels in Harbin, Daqing has only this single Marriott property, making it an irreplaceable benchmark in western Heilongjiang and northern Xinjiang’s cultural tourism accommodation. Unlike trendy new hotels with assembly-line designs, it’s a well-established high-end hotel recognized by locals, without excessive marketing. It focuses on stability, peace of mind, and high adaptability. With a year-round rate around 500 yuan, it offers outstanding value within the five-star Marriott system. Location: prime city center spot covering all travel, dining, and entertainment needs Location is the top priority when choosing a hotel, and this Sheraton’s location is legendary—right in the heart of the city center. The hotel sits in the core commercial area of Dongfeng New Village in Saertu District. Wanda Plaza is just outside the door, with restaurants, milk tea shops, supermarkets, and cinemas downstairs. Room experience: classic five-star quality with excellent sleep comfort The hotel has over 200 rooms and suites, including standard rooms, deluxe rooms, and executive suites. The spaces are open and bright, with no sense of confinement. Though it’s a renovated older hotel, the decor leans toward classic business vintage rather than trendy luxury, but it’s clean, well-maintained, and shows no signs of aging like peeling or mold. The upkeep surpasses other local hotels of similar age. All rooms come with Sheraton’s signature exclusive sleep mattress, offering medium firmness and excellent support. Pillows are adjustable in height. Whether you’re a tired business traveler or a weary tourist, you can relax quickly and sleep soundly until morning, perfectly embodying the core advantage of a five-star hotel. Rooms also include ergonomic desks and chairs, high-speed Wi-Fi, and HD LCD TVs, making work and entertainment effortless. The room heating is impressive, designed for the harsh northeast climate. Indoor temperature stays warm and comfortable, so wearing light pajamas in winter is enough. There’s no cold draft. Hygiene is top-notch, with fresh linens changed for each guest, smooth and odor-free bedding, and spotless bathroom corners, ensuring a worry-free stay. The hotel offers a free professional gym and heated swimming pool open to guests. The gym has complete, well-maintained equipment covering full-body workouts. The pool water is clear and clean, with tidy, dry changing rooms and complete facilities. Whether for morning exercise or post-meal leisure swimming, it’s an excellent choice. Bell staff proactively assist with luggage, adding a sense of ceremony. The hotel also has a large multifunctional banquet hall and meeting rooms, making it a popular choice for local weddings, large conferences, and business events. Dining review: strong Northeast flavors with excellent value The hotel has a Chinese restaurant, Western restaurant, and all-day buffet, with food quality far exceeding many chain hotels at the same price point. The buffet breakfast is the biggest surprise, offering a wide variety that caters to both northern and southern tastes as well as Northeast specialties. Besides the usual breads, pastries, congee, noodles, fruit and vegetable salads, and freshly brewed coffee, there are many authentic local dishes like stewed ribs, specialty eggplant pockets, handmade sausages, and fried sweet potato sticks. Ingredients are fresh, with a balanced mix of meat and vegetables and generous portions. A hearty breakfast like this greatly enhances travel happiness. For other meals, the Chinese restaurant serves refined Northeast and fusion cuisine with authentic flavors and exquisite dishes. It’s suitable for solo meals or small gatherings with friends and family. Overall, the food is reliable and appeals to a broad audience, suitable for all ages.
