I used to be quite impatient, always yearning for a different time and place. In spring, I longed for the cool autumn breeze; in summer, I dreamed of winter snow. When traveling, I merely chased novelty, never pausing to appreciate the present moment. Believing the future was always brighter and distant places more enchanting, I spent my days constantly on the move, searching—yet my heart remained empty and restless. It wasn't until I wandered through this place during the Mid-Autumn Festival and witnessed the locals' wisdom of living in harmony with the seasons and celebrating togetherness, that I slowly shed my restlessness and reconnected with my true self. The people here strictly observe the solar terms of the four seasons and traditional customs. On Mid-Autumn night, they have a long-standing tradition of moon-gazing, praying, offering cakes to the moon, and celebrating together in the streets. After dark, every household sets out mooncakes, autumn fruits, and osmanthus wine. Neighbors invite one another to sit in their courtyards and admire the autumn moon. Elders share old stories of past moonlit eves, while children play joyfully around them. There are no extravagant displays, only a deeply warm atmosphere of reunion. The local diet strictly follows the seasons: they eat harvested grains in autumn, handcraft moon pastries, and sun-dry ingredients to preserve the flavors of the season. Elderly artisans on the streets change their crafts as the seasons shift, living a grounded, unhurried life free of greed. Sitting quietly on the sidelines, I took it all in and realized that everything in nature blossoms and fades in its own due time. The moonlight was gentle, daily life felt remarkably peaceful, and I understood that everything in the world has its perfect timing. I no longer fantasize about the scenery of another time. Instead, I fully immerse myself in the seasonal joys of Mid-Autumn, cherishing every flower, every blade of grass, and every passing dawn and dusk right in front of me. My inner anxiety has completely melted away, replaced by a profound sense of peace and groundedness. As the ancient philosopher Cheng Hao once wrote, "In quiet observation, all things are content; the joys of the four seasons are shared with all." Embracing natural rhythms, honoring traditions, living without greed or restlessness, and quietly watching the years go by—this is truly the most graceful way to live.

Beijing Accommodation Recommendation Stay at Kuntai Jiahe Hotel Beijing 📍 Address: No. 107 Huilongguan West Street, Beijing Centrally located, getting around is a breeze. Right downstairs is the Hualian Mall along with plenty of dining options. The hotel offers a cozy environment with great swimming pool and gym facilities, catering to both business and leisure travelers. A heads-up from some guests: the AC can struggle a bit when it's super hot outside, so bringing a light jacket is a good idea. Also, the restaurant serves local Chinese dishes, making your taste of Beijing cuisine even more authentic. The only hiccup is that the Wi-Fi can be a bit sluggish at times, but overall, it's still a highly recommended place to stay. Post-Trip Thoughts & Tips for a Slow-Paced Vacation What stuck with me the most was the ferry ride on the river—the boat cruised along slowly, and as I leaned against the railing, the breeze brushed my face with the cool, damp touch of the river water. All my worries just floated away with the ripples. Compared to a packed, rushed itinerary, this slowed-down pace was surprisingly healing. If you come to Jiahe, I absolutely recommend carving out some time for this slow-living experience. And remember to put your phone away to truly embrace the carefree moment of "who cares if the wind messes up my hair"! Practical Travel Tips 1. For getting around the city, walking or taking a taxi is your best bet. The attractions aren't too far apart, but since it gets hot, don't forget your sunscreen and stay hydrated. 2. The water park is open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. In the summer, make sure to plan ahead to dodge the midday heat. 3. The parks or cemetery have spacious terraces perfect for a picnic or a quick nap. Bring along a picnic mat and some grab-and-go drinks to make it even more chill. 4. The hotel restaurant offers Chinese breakfast options. It's best to book ahead during peak hours. Lastly, make sure to leave plenty of time to catch your breath in Jiahe's natural scenery and slow-paced rhythm, so you don't miss out on what a real vacation feels like!
