If I had to choose my travel personality, I think I am a dangerous combination of The Planner, The Explorer, The Photographer and The Nature Seeker. Basically, I plan everything carefully, then arrive and completely abandon the plan because I see something pretty. 😂 One of the best examples was our trip to Hallstatt, Austria. Before going, I had seen so many photos of Hallstatt online. The beautiful lake, enormous mountains, colourful houses and that famous church tower beside the water. I thought, “Okay, it looks nice.” Then I arrived. My first reaction was basically: WAIT... THIS PLACE IS REAL?! Hallstatt honestly looks like somebody built a tiny fairytale village, placed it beside a perfectly calm lake, added giant mountains behind it, then said, “Hmm... still not dramatic enough. Put a beautiful church tower in the middle.” 😂 Getting there from Vienna is already part of the adventure. We travelled by train towards Hallstatt, and the scenery slowly changed from city views to mountains, forests and lakes. The interesting part is that Hallstatt railway station is actually across the lake from the village. So after getting off the train, you still need to take a short ferry across the water. And THAT ferry ride is when Hallstatt really reveals itself. As the boat approaches the village, you start seeing the little houses squeezed between the mountain and lake, with the tall church tower standing proudly above them. Suddenly everyone on the ferry becomes a professional photographer. Phones come out. Cameras come out. People start moving around looking for the perfect angle. Me included, obviously. 📸 Once we reached the village, my Photographer personality completely took over. “Take one here.” “Wait, the tower isn't straight.” “Take another one.” “Can you move slightly left?” “No, YOUR left!” At some point, sightseeing became a full photography production. 😂 But what surprised me most was how beautiful Hallstatt looked from almost every direction. Walk up one small street and suddenly the church tower appears perfectly between the mountains. Turn around and there is the lake. Walk a little higher and you get another completely different view. And yes, we took the classic couple photos too. One normal photo was apparently not enough. We needed standing poses, hugging poses, leg-up poses and probably enough photos to prove we personally discovered Hallstatt. 😂 Over the years, I think my travel personality has definitely changed. I used to care more about checking attractions off a list. Now I enjoy slowing down and actually appreciating where I am. Hallstatt reminded me exactly why I love travelling. Sometimes the best travel moments aren't complicated. It's simply standing beside someone you love, surrounded by mountains, staring at an ridiculously beautiful view and thinking: “Okay... just ONE more photo.” Spoiler: It was never one more photo. 😂

If you have time, walk from the Lower Belvedere to the Upper Belvedere—the changing perspective is one of the most beautiful experiences in Vienna. As the warm light washes over the white façade and reflects across the water, you'll understand why Belvedere feels less like a museum and more like a romantic painting brought to life.
