Cape Tachimachi , Hakodate.
Cape Tachimachi has beautiful views over the Tsugaru Strait. There is a small lookout point with equally stunning views down the coast. This cape is part of Hanamasu Park.
Before reaching the cape, you need to pass by cemetery. That’s the only entrance and it’s free of charge. When I went I am the only person there . it’s a waste as I find that this place is really peaceful and beautiful. Windy is for sure.
The station is Yachigashira tram station (seven stops from Hakodate tram station). From here it is 26 minute walk (winter walking) #bucketlistreboot #greentravel . Hakodate transport - tram is the key transport.

Cycling Around Singapore
#greentrip #greentravel
Green travel is not a trend, but it's our choice to help lighten the blemish on mother earth through green travel practices. Green travel is any transportation that doesn't negatively impact the environment, such as walking, biking, and electric vehicle. Also this is another way to reduce traffic congestion and decrease the demand for fuel and gasoline.
During my free time, I exercise by cycling around Singapore instead of exercising in the gym. If I don't have a meeting appointment, I cycle to my office or for a casual lunch appointment and or for my dinner; usually, I cycle. Study shows that cycling can improve the function of your lower body and strengthen your leg muscle without overusing your joints.
The other health benefits I gained from cycling are decreased body fat level, improved cardiovascular fitness, and reduced stress level because I can see and taking pictures of many beautiful spots, landmarks, and historical sites in Singapore.
Therefore, green travel is a win-win solution in which we make an effort to save mother earth, and at the same time, we also benefit ourselves. I encourage you to spread the initiative and participate in green travel.
Save the planet, save a life!
Kitanomine Village or Ningle terrace
Wood cottages & workshops in the woods showcasing & selling traditional handicrafts.
How to get there in the evening, shuttles run from Kitanomine village to the Furano town.
If you go during winter, the little houses decorated with lights look very impressive and warming.
Well, Furano is also well known for flowers especially lavender. See none of it in Winter. But managed to get the products made from lavender.
The most common route to travel to Furano is from New Chitose Airport via shuttle bus. #greentravel
This is also ski area with many Ski resorts during winter time .
Best to visit during July for the lavender field.

Shirahige Falls /Blue Pond Biei Hokkaido
During winter time the pond becomes White Pond. If one going during spring or summer or autumn , you can actually walked down the trail . But the day I went I think it’s a -6 and getting cold, hence went up to the bridge for photo instead.
Shirahige Falls stream down the cliff face into Biei River. Mount Tokachi, where the waters of Shirogane Hot Springs is sourced from, absorbs some of the water it catches down to become ground water over time. mixing with the minerals all the way from mount, it came out BLUE.
Well, during winter , it’s so white so you need to stare very hard on the picture . Next to the bridge there is a place for hot spring .
How to get there: Drive or Bus tour from Sapporo. I support the Bus tour. #greentravel

Taipei zoo located at Wenshan District, Taipei, Taiwan.
One of the biggest zoos area in Asia.
Specialty of this zoo is it has educational facility for the young ones.
In addition it also have displayed on how people extract water from underground.
There is one area where domestic animals can roam around . Can see duckling and ducks wade around in a line. I called this trained ducks . The panda I believe is the main feature .
I enjoyed the greenery and free carbon. Taiwan is very supportive of recycling hence can find recycling bins every where. Note that for boxed drink. I learned that you need to flatten it every time you want to dispose.

Green Travel
#greentrip #greenliving #greentravel
We can help save the earth and environment by adopting some of these green tips, be it when traveling or at home:
1. BYO- Bring your own water bottle. Take note of Water Refill points to refill your water, instead of buying water and throwing it away after use, thereby reducing plastic waste. I usually bring my own water bottle when going out, and have refilled countless times at Muji, airports, parks etc.
2. Bring your own Bag to reduce the use of single-use bags. Similarly, bring your own Bag when going out so that you can pack all your purchases inside after that. You can get those where it can be reduced to a small bag to save space.
3. Recycle Bin - When traveling, there are bound to be some bottles we use, so look out for recycling points where you can throw these bottles into.
4. Support those Reduce Waste initiatives such as the POOL Project at Muji, where they use the leftover cloth scraps to make new clothes. Alternatively, you may also visit second hand clothes outlets and purchase these 2nd hand clothing. I had purchased some both at home and overseas & they all look like new.
5. Bring your bottles for refill. This will be a bit tough to do while traveling, but you can certainly do it at home.
Free bike rental at Hotel JEN!
Do you know you can enjoy free bike 🚲 rental at JEN Singapore Tanglin by Shangri-La?
Yes! This cosy hotel offers free bike rental for their guests. I found out about this special perk when I stayed at JEN Singapore Tanglin. Check out the two stunning Tokyo Bikes parked in front of the hotel!
The hotel is filled with fun and sporty designs that inspire eco-friendly travel through cycling.
The best way to explore the city without leaving behind carbon footprint is to hop on a bicycle and pedal. Thanks to the rental bicycles, I explored the top sights in downtown Orchard and UNESCO heritage Botanical Gardens.
Cycling tip: Start your riding journey early in the morning when the shopping streets are empty. You can cycle breezily through the streets connecting the shopping malls and parks.

Sustainable travel with green hotel
Would you like to be a green traveler?
Here are some tips on how to enjoy travel while taking care of our planet!
1. 🏨 Choose an eco-friendly hotel
I highly recommend PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering. It is Singapore’s first hotel-in-a-garden designed by world-renowned architects WOHA. The hotel showcases the best of the urban and natural landscapes with environmentally-friendly facilities and technologies.
2. 💧Travel with a refillable water bottle
Avoid consuming water from plastic bottles. I love the green practices of PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering as they provide their guests with water served in reusable glass bottles.
3. 🌳 Participate in a green activities that have zero carbon emission
One of the more enjoyable outdoor activities is to take a walk in nature.
Do you know PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering has an urban high-rise garden walk? You can enjoy a relaxing walk on the fifth level through the green corridor that is filled with flora and fauna. And most amazingly, the green landscape is designed to be self-sustaining–rainwater collected from the upper floors irrigates the green walls, plants, and trees decorating the hotel.

Hoi An- an old town near Da Nang is a heart warming place to visit.
During day time , one can cycle around the old town area to minimise carbon while allowing more people to walk around in the old town.
If you don’t want to cycle, there is a paid tricycle trip available for hire .
Took a shared van from Danang. Picked up and sent to Hoi An old town. I rented a bicycle to have a look around followed by lunch - Hoi An chicken rice.
Followed by a foot massage before going for dessert.
During evening , the town became colourful ! Boats start bustling the river . The lights around the town is so attractive that one can’t help but continue to take more pictures.

Green Travel in Japan
#greentrip #greentravel #japan
With the recent news of Japan set to open up soon by October, there will soon be a lot who will be looking forward to visiting Japan soon. On our last Japan trip, we had mostly used the train, which is considered as one of the sustainable & eco-friendly ways of traveling around. Do you know that electric trains emit a lot less CO2 as compared to road & air travel? Traveling by train can be around 10 times less CO2 emissions as compared to traveling by air. Traveling by train is also more efficient as a lot more people can board a train than other public transportation such as buses & cars.
In addition to these, it's also more enjoyable as you can admire the scenery while the train brings you to the different cities. We had bought the JR West Pass & used the trains to go to Kyoto, Nara and Hikone, where we then walked quite a fair bit around the different attractions, temples, parks and Hikone Castle. With the cool spring weather, walking while taking in the beautiful scenery is recommended, and of course a much more eco-friendly way of travel too. Just make sure that you travel light and have a water bottle/reusable bottle.
💚 Let’s achieve green travelling!
PARKROYAL on Beach Road
For my third recommendation, I will recommend Parkroyal on Beach Road Singapore and I have stayed with them twice since 2021. I have tried out their Club Deluxe and Club Premier room. Both rooms are entitled to their club lounge at level 6 and you can check in directly at level 6 reception too.
I hope you like my mini series featuring Parkroyal hotels in Singapore and some of my tips on how to travel green :)
The hotel is located within walking distance from 2 MRT stations (CCL Nicoll Highway station & DTL/EWL Bugis station). There are also many bus stops around the hotels so you can save on transport and use public transport to cut down on carbon emissions.
If you have visited the hotel’s website, you can see that they have dedicated a page on “Going Green”. In a nutshell, PRBR is also going towards being sustainable. The easiest method will be cutting down on plastic and you can also see the familiar water filter tap over at PRBR as well. By eliminating plastic water bottles from the guestrooms, the reduction in plastic waste is significant.
You also can see that the restaurants in Parkroyal hotels have also migrated to using biodegradable food containers, no more plastic straws and plastic containers. In PRBR, they also use refillable toiletries so that all single-use plastic products can be reduced.
To achieve sustainability, it will require efforts from everybody. Together, we can contribute towards our campaign in saving Mother Nature. At the same time, we can also raise awareness to our fellow travellers in reducing our waste and changing our habits to achieve green travelling.

🪴 We can play our part in green travelling
Parkroyal Collection Marina Bay Singapore
I will also definitely recommend Parkroyal Collection Marina Bay Singapore and I have stayed with them for 3 times since 2021. I have tried out their Urban Deluxe, Lifestyle Premier, Signature Marina Bay, and also their Collection room entitled to their club lounge at level 5, same level as their super pretty mineral swimming pool.
I hope you have like my previous trip moments on “hotel in a garden” hotel. Now, let me introduce you to “garden in a hotel” hotel.
The hotel is located within walking distance from 2 MRT stations (CCL Esplanade station & DTL/CCL Promenade station). There are also many bus stops around the hotels so you can save on transport and use public transport to cut down on carbon emissions.
They have incorporated many sustainability measures such as energy savings and reducing plastic waste. When you enter the hotel and take the elevator to level 4 for checking in, please remember to look upwards. There is a sunroof to allow natural lights into the hotel. But you will be more likely to get distracted by the awesome centrepiece.
With the “garden in a hotel” concept, it is stated on their website that they have more than 2400 of greenery over an extensive area to shape their hotel into a forest which is beneficial for their guests. As the plants will take in all the CO2 and release O2 during their photosynthesis process. In fact, I did feel extra refreshed when I was at PRMB.
There are balconies in their guestrooms and it is controlled by sensors to switch off the air-conditioning when the balcony doors are left open for a period of time. The sensors also can sense motion so if there are no movements, then it will also switch off the electricity. Also, a QR code which replace all the menu and instructions is provided in the room.
You will also not be able to find plastic bottles in the rooms. Instead, there are glass bottles available for you to refill from the water filter inside the bathroom. You also can use your own water bottles. Although you can get potable tap water in Singapore, the extra care in providing a water filter in all guestrooms is a nice gesture.
As hotel guests, we can also choose not to use the bathrobes provided. Then there will be less washing and we can help to reduce water and electricity usages in a way. For me, I will also remove my keycard from the room when I am away. By not keeping the electricity on, we also can contribute a little towards the environment.
Will you visit PRMB?

Bet you didn’t know: Hidden trail in Taipei.
Getting There - Metro to ZhiShan Station, and take bus 220/Zhongshan main line bus, stop at the roundabout of tianmu. 5-10min walk up the road to the start point of tian mu historic trail.
Attractions - Hidden spots, waterfall, trail with a city view of tianmu
Hotels - Mellow fields hotel
Food & Restaurants - None
Shopping - None
I always like to visit the trails and connect with nature every time when I travel. It’s a good opportunity to escape from our busy lifestyle and find ownself within the greenery of nature.
TianMu historic Trail leds you up to a few restaurants where you can take it as exercising before your meal. Also, by hiking up the trail, you encourage lesser cars from entering the mountain, encouraging lesser air pollution!

Parkroyal Collection Pickering Singapore
I will definitely recommend Parkroyal Collection Pickering Singapore and I have stayed with them for 13 times since 2021. I have tried out their Urban Deluxe, Lifestyle Premier, Signature Executive, Signature suite and also their Collection room entitled to their club lounge at level 16.
The hotel is located within walking distance from 2 MRT station (NEL Clark Quay station & DTL/NEL Chinatown station). There are also many bus stops around the hotels so you can save on transport and use public transport to cut down on carbon emissions.
They are also an “eco-friendly garden concept”, “hotel in a garden” hotel and you can see it easily from their building designs. They also have won awards for their green hotel concept and voted as “Asia's Leading Green Hotel”. From their website, they have allocated 15000 sqm for their greenery within the hotel, more than half of their guest rooms corridors are, in fact, non air-conditioned walkways, solar-powered sky garden at the lounge level, harvesting rainwater and use of NEWater and motion-sensored switches.
You can also find their green efforts in your room, it is designed as a wooden dice and you can see all the efforts taken to promote sustainable experience. There are also no plastic bottles in the hotel, it is replaced with their water filter tap. So you can reuse your water bottles and cut down on plastic. They have separate trash bins for recyclable trash in the rooms too. Moreover, they do not use disposable toiletries in their hotel. Instead, they provide refillable toiletries for all in-house guests.
Lastly, there is no need to print out documents to check in. Everything is paperless and seamless using their app check in.
As hotel guests, we can also do more by hanging our towels to reuse them, reject changing of bedsheets, bring our own toothbrush and carry a water bottle to refill our bottles.
We can travel in a green way and save the Earth at the same time. We also can always follow Trip.com as they are the “Champion of good 2022” and take part in their “Pay it Forward” campaigns. Furthermore, they also have this CHOOOSE program whereby we can contribute towards sustainable travelling by offsetting flight’s carbon emissions when we book a flight with them.

Go green by Walking
There are a lot of green park connectors all around Singapore, and links quite a number of attractions together. As such, one can actually go green by walking along the park connectors instead of taking public transport.
To get to Gardens by the Bay from Kallang/Sports Hub area, you can use the Tanjong Rhu Park Connector which will link you to the Gardens by the Bay East Garden, Marina Barrage and lastly the main Gardens by the Bay attraction. You also get to exercise while having scenic views while on the Park Connectors.
In the first part of the journey where you are walking along the Marina Reservoir, you will find dragon boats & people kayaking in the reservoir. As you walk towards the Marina Barrage, you will pass by the Gardens by the Bay East Garden and be rewarded with views of Gardens by the Bay, Marina Bay Sands and the Singapore Flyer opposite the reservoir. The overall walking route is quite straightforward and easy to follow. There's also maps along the route for you to check on, which is very helpful especially for first timers. You can also choose to cycle as what a lot had done as well.

The Crystal Terrace
Great view over the valley from the Glass Terrace. Best hour is before the tours arrive where you can be there alone and peacefully. Entrance is only 8 TL. We went from Old city to here in the minibus. Just you need to walk a little bit (10min). Close to here there is also a zip line across the valley. After the view of the canyon we went of the trail down to the valley and walked until the main road where we catch the mini bus back to the city center? Basically I recycled my towel in room as most of the time out on deck pool or activities .
Aircon is minimise as I can open up balcony for natural sea breeze and Yes, I kept my balcony door open wide if I am in the room.
How Royal can customise food portion ? For example you shared with them, you just want to try. They will make a portion just nice for one pax to try. So there is no wastage at lease from my side .
Feel I contribute so much to environment during cruise stay.

The bridge is around 150m and the hands are impressive . When I went that day I guess it’s summer holiday in Vietnam hence many locals also went .
Really excellent place to take Instagram as it is looking as if the hands are supporting the bridge . That is not the fact though. if the weather is cloudy, maybe one can’t even see the hand so Lucky me

Green Living in a Modern Building
We all enjoy staycations but at the detriment to the environment. Hence, its imperative that hotels provide the necessary options to lead a more sustainable green lifestyle. Courtyard Novena Singapore is accessible by MRT train, hence we can take the public transport here and reduce greenhouse emissions when we ditch the car. The windows are also double glazed, hence offering better insulation and reducing air conditioning energy consumption, something that I hope all hotels will adopt. Bath amenities are provided by dispensers, hence eliminating single use plastic bottles. Green plants are also found within the foyer, offering a decorative solution as well as taking in carbon dioxide. Every little effort helps #greentrip #greentravel
