This small town in northern Morocco is like a blue dream. The houses, alleys, and even doors and windows throughout the city were painted with layers of blue. Some people say it is a symbol of religious belief, others say blue can repel mosquitoes. Regardless of the reason, it has long become its most fascinating symbol. When you come here, you don’t need any specific destination. Just wandering through the rugged alleys, you can feel the unique tranquility and leisure of the small town. Compared to other cities in Morocco, Chefchaouen is more relaxed and at ease. There are several popular landmarks here, such as the #LonelyPlanetStairs, the #SpanishMosque(Bouzafer Mosque) where you can enjoy the sunset, and the distinctive #IslamicSchoolElAhliyaSchool...etc. Being in the blue and white Chefchaouen allowed me to temporarily escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and find a moment of peace in this tranquil blue world. The city boasts few different quarters from early Jewish residents, to Spanish conquistadors and Andalusian moorish refugees. The city was built with a city wall to fight off the invading Portuguese but prevailed as one of the most historic, touristic and most Instagrammable location in Morocco. In the famous Hole of Africa, the color of the sea is extremely clear, because this is the gathering area of the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, like the scenery seen from Penglai Pavilion. At Cape Spartel, you can see Spain on the opposite side. The geographical convenience here results in the public toilets being charged according to European standards - 0.5 euros/person (equivalent to 5 local currencies, which is quite expensive.
