#photovsrealitytravel When you see photos of Trolltunga on social media, it looks like an otherworldly sanctuary! a lone wanderer perched on a sliver of rock suspended in mid-air, gazing out over a tranquil fjord surrounded by rugged, snow-capped peaks. The air looks perfectly crisp, and the atmosphere feels like an quiet communion with nature. After dragging my body up the mountain for miles, grinding through steep ascents, rocky switchbacks, and relentless wind, I reached the summit expecting that exact moment of serene isolation. The view itself is 100% real: Ringedalsvatnet lake below glows in a deep, electric blue, and the sheer scale of the cliff drops away into nothingness beneath your feet. It is undeniably one of the most breathtaking sights on the planet. Then came the reality check. Right behind the camera lens, there’s a queue of 50 to 100 hikers huddled along the rocky ridge, wrapped in windbreakers and patiently awaiting their turn to step onto the ledge. I spent nearly two hours shuffling forward in a single-file line, watching people strike poses, swap spots, and hurriedly snap photos before running off so the next person could step up. There’s an unspoken mountain etiquette where the person behind you in line becomes your photographer, so you hand over your phone, walk out onto the tongue, lift your arms in triumph, and try to look effortlessly solitary while a crowd watches your every move. It’s funny, surreal, and a bit jarring after hours of pure wilderness, but honest: everyone is up there enduring the same wait for that exact iconic shot. Despite the queue, standing on that ledge makes every single step worth it. The trick is going into the experience knowing what to expect so you don't let the crowds ruin the magic. If you want to beat the massive lines or just soak in the view without rushing, consider wild camping up on the plateau near the rock. Pitching a tent nearby meant I could watch the fog roll through the valley in total peace, sit by the cliff edge when the day-hikers had all cleared out, and catch the morning light hit the fjords before the new crowd arrived. It turns a chaotic photo line into an unforgettable wilderness experience. Local Logistics & Travel Breakdown Getting There: Base yourself in Odda or Tyssedal. #kindnessontheroad Deep in the heart of Norway’s Hardangervidda plateau, Europe’s largest high mountain plateau, I found myself in a sticky situation—literally. I had taken a wrong turn on a "scenic route" recommended by a fellow hiker, leading my rental SUV onto what turned out to be a boggy, unmarked service track. Within seconds, the wheels lost traction, and I was sunk up to the axles in thick, sucking mud. The plateau is famous for its reindeer and vast emptiness; I hadn't seen another soul in hours. Panic set in as the sun began to dip toward the horizon. After an hour of futile digging and rock-placing, a battered Land Cruiser appeared in my rearview mirror. The driver, a burly Norwegian man with a beard flecked with wood shavings (he turned out to be a logger), didn't hesitate. He assessed the situation, pulled out a heavy-duty tow strap from his trunk, and attached it to my chassis. With a few powerful tugs, he yanked my car free. He then spent twenty minutes helping me pack rocks and branches under my tires to ensure I could get back to the main road. He refused the 500 Kroner I offered him, simply saying, "The forest gives to those who help each other," before disappearing back into the pine trees. Hardangervidda Survival Guide: Road Conditions: Never trust a "shortcut" on a map in Norway. Stick to paved roads (National Tourist Routes are spectacular) or well-signposted gravel tracks. If a road looks unmaintained, turn back. Vehicle Choice: If you plan on exploring beyond the main highways, rent a 4x4. Standard insurance often doesn't cover off-road recovery. Recovery Gear: Carry a folding shovel, a tow rope/strap, and traction mats (like Maxtrax). These are worth their weight in gold. Wildlife: Watch for wild reindeer. They have right of way! Communication: Mobile coverage is spotty. Inform someone of your route and expected return time. Have you ever been rescued by a local in a remote wilderness area?

#adventuretrips Let me start with the verdict: This hiking trail is absolutely stunning! Totally worth the trip! (But you gotta have good fitness, check the weather, and make sure you have enough time - all three are a must!) Where to find Trolltunga: It's in the Hardangertjord area in southern Norway, near the town of Odda. We stayed in Odda and drove from Oslo - took us about 6 hours with our rental car. Getting ready for the hike: 1. Weather is super important! Try to avoid rainy days. I mean, it's a 22km trek, and getting into trouble in heavy rain would be pretty dangerous since there's not much infrastructure along the way. So definitely check Windy right before you head out. 2. You'll need proper gear - hiking boots, a waterproof jacket, and a hat are non-negotiable. Go for that three-layer system. 3. Pack enough food for two meals. We only brought one, and we were starving on the way down, so we just had chocolate. 4. Book your parking spot! If you're driving, you should reserve the P3 parking. (It's 600 NOK on the booking site, and you need to book 2-3 weeks ahead or you won't get a spot). If you don't book P3, you'll have to walk an extra 6km round trip or take a longer bus ride. The buses stop running pretty early in the afternoon, so you won't have much flexibility. The hike details: It's 22km total with a 900-meter climb. Most of the climbing happens between the 3-5km mark, and after that, it's pretty flat. The scenery changes a lot - you'll see waterfalls, fjords, tundra, and even snow. When you get to the end, the cliffs are just breathtaking with clouds rolling around. The hike itself takes about 8 hours, but with photo stops and sightseeing, plan for around 12 hours So try to get to P3 by 8 AM. You'll need to climb down some rocks to get to the photo spots, so be careful. There weren't many people in line when we went, so we only waited a few minutes. Standing on the cliff at the end makes your legs go weak, but the view is absolutely epic. No wonder it's ranked as one of the top 10 day hikes in the world on some lists. #Lake #adventure #hike

Norway is a country especially favored by nature, with its rugged coastline carving out majestic, deep fjords. In winter nights, the northern lights streak freely across the sky, while summer’s midnight sun offers endless golden evenings. Whether you prefer urban culture, mountain hiking, or chasing the polar lights, this place fulfills every Nordic dream. It’s recommended to start your day before 9 AM whenever possible. Norway’s daylight hours vary greatly by season. Early departures help you avoid crowds and give you plenty of time to fully immerse yourself in the natural scenery. Begin your trip in the capital, Oslo. The Oslo Opera House resembles a white iceberg rising from the sea. Visitors can walk up the sloping roof platform to take in both the cityscape and the Oslo fjord. Vigeland Sculpture Park features numerous sculptures that depict the joys and sorrows of human life. The Munch Museum houses the original The Scream, offering an immersive experience of the unique cool and profound Nordic art. Strolling along the harbor before 9 AM, when the city is still quiet and the sea breeze gentle, lets you feel the relaxed morning life of locals. Head west to Bergen, a harbor city surrounded by seven green mountains and an important gateway to the fjord region. The Bryggen wooden houses, a UNESCO World Heritage site, line up in colorful rows. Early mornings see fewer tourists, making every photo a great shot. Take the Fløibanen funicular to the top for panoramic views of the town and fjord. At the street market, you can taste local seafood like smoked salmon and Arctic shrimp. From Bergen, venture out to the world’s longest fjord, the Sognefjord. Ride the Flåm mountain train through forests and waterfalls, then transfer to a fjord cruise as the emerald glacier waters stretch slowly between towering mountains. For polar scenery, travel north to Tromsø, known as the “gateway to the northern lights.” The best time to see the aurora is from October to April. During the day, take the cable car for views of the Arctic Ocean and visit the uniquely designed Arctic Cathedral. At night, head to open areas outside the city to quietly watch the northern lights dance across the sky. If you visit in summer, experience the magical midnight sun, with the sun hanging in the sky all day long. Choosing the right accommodation can double your travel experience. Three hotels with distinct styles suit different needs. The Continental Hotel Oslo is located in the city center, within walking distance to the Royal Palace and major museums. With a history of over 100 years, it retains Art Nouveau decorative details indoors. After sightseeing, you can relax in the hotel’s lounge area. It’s ideal for travelers using Oslo as a transit point to explore the city. The Walaker Hotel along the Sognefjord coast is a family-run establishment passed down through generations. The rustic wooden house stands by the water. Open the window to see the fjord and mountains, with morning mist covering the water, creating a deeply atmospheric scene. The restaurant focuses on fresh local ingredients. Staying here is perfect for slowing down and soaking in the fjord’s tranquility, ideal for travelers wanting an in-depth fjord experience. The Tromsø Harbor Boutique Hotel is close to the harbor, with most rooms featuring sea-view windows. You can walk to various city spots. After a late-night aurora chase, the sauna helps warm you up from the polar chill, making it very welcoming for travelers heading to the Arctic to see the northern lights. Practical travel tips: Norway is part of the Schengen area, so a visa must be obtained in advance. Prices are generally high, so book accommodations and meals early. The weather is unpredictable; even in summer, bring windproof and waterproof jackets. When hiking to Preikestolen or Trolltunga, arrive at the trailhead before 9 AM, bring professional outdoor gear, and never hike alone on remote routes. In winter, entering the Arctic Circle requires thick down jackets and anti-slip snow boots. Card payments are widely accepted, so carry only a small amount of cash for occasional small-town expenses. Norway’s charm is never about rushing through but about quietly listening to the waves, watching the fjord’s morning mist, and waiting for the northern lights to fill the sky. Start early and fully immerse yourself in this northern land to create your own unique Nordic memories.

Norway had been on my bucket list for years, and somehow it still exceeded every expectation. I started in Oslo, where modern architecture blends effortlessly with nature. Walking along the waterfront was the perfect introduction before heading deeper into the country. The real magic began in Flåm. The train ride through mountains, waterfalls, and tiny villages felt like watching a movie through the window. From there, I joined a cruise through Nærøyfjord, and the scenery was even more spectacular in person. Towering cliffs, peaceful water, and waterfalls around every corner made it one of the most memorable experiences of my trip. Further north, Bergen quickly became one of my favorite cities. I loved wandering around Bryggen’s colorful wooden houses before taking the Fløibanen funicular for panoramic views over the harbor. Another unforgettable stop was Trolltunga. The hike was challenging, but standing on that famous rock overlooking the fjord was worth every step. Before leaving, I spent a night in Tromsø, hoping to see the Northern Lights. Watching the sky suddenly glow with dancing green ribbons was something I’ll never forget. Norway isn’t the cheapest destination, but every view, every drive, and every quiet moment in nature made it feel absolutely worth it. It’s the kind of place that stays with you long after the journey ends. #norway #norwaytravel

1. Beginner Friendly · Norway in Miniature (3 days 2 nights, easy check-in at Sogne + Hardanger) This is the official beginner route recommended by Norway, connecting the essence of two major fjords, and you can enjoy it without driving: · Day 1: Oslo → Myrdal → Flåm Take the train from Oslo to Myrdal, then transfer to the Flåm Railway (one of the most beautiful railways in the world), passing through snowy mountains, waterfalls, and canyons, arriving at the fjord town of Flåm, and stay at a cabin hotel in the town. · Day 2: Flåm → Gudvangen → Voss → Lofthus Take a cruise to explore the Nærøyfjord branch of the Sognefjord, then transfer by bus to Voss. In the afternoon, head to the Hardangerfjord town of Lofthus, check in at the Hotel Ullensvang from your photos and the reindeer sculpture, and watch the fjord sunset. · Day 3: Lofthus → Bergen In the morning, stroll through the town’s orchards. In the afternoon, take a bus and ferry back to Bergen, visit Bryggen wooden houses and the fish market to end the trip. 2. In-depth Self-drive · Four Major Fjords + Three Famous Rocks (7 days 6 nights, suitable for self-driving enthusiasts) · Day 1: Stavanger → Lysefjord (Preikestolen hike) Arrive in Stavanger and stay one night. Get up early the next day to hike Preikestolen (round trip about 4 hours), overlooking the full view of Lysefjord. · Day 2: Stavanger → Odda (Trolltunga) Drive to the town of Odda to prepare for the Trolltunga hike on the third day (recommended to stay in town and start early the next day). · Day 3: Odda → Lofthus (Hardangerfjord) Hike Trolltunga (round trip 10-12 hours). After finishing, drive to Lofthus and relax in the hotel’s fjord pool to relieve fatigue. · Day 4: Lofthus → Flåm (Sognefjord) Drive to Flåm, take a Sognefjord cruise in the afternoon, and stay overnight in Flåm town. · Day 5: Flåm → Geirangerfjord Drive along the fjord road, passing Eagle Road and Trollstigen, arriving at Geiranger town, and stay at a hotel by the fjord. · Day 6: Geiranger → Molde Take a Geirangerfjord cruise to see the Seven Sisters Waterfall, then head to the Atlantic Ocean Road in the afternoon to photograph the famous sea road. · Day 7: Molde → Return to Oslo/Bergen 🏨 Accommodation Recommendations (by fjord) | Fjord | Recommended Accommodation | Highlights | |-------------------|----------------------------------|----------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Hardangerfjord | Hotel Ullensvang (Lofthus) | The hotel from your photos, fjord view rooms + outdoor pool, iconic reindeer sculpture in the garden is a must-see spot | | Sognefjord | Fretheim Hotel (Flåm) | Century-old hotel, walking distance to Flåm train station, windows overlook fjord and snowy mountains | | Geirangerfjord | Union Hotel (Geiranger) | Facing Geirangerfjord directly, some rooms have views of the Seven Sisters Waterfall, fully equipped | | Lysefjord | Preikestolen BaseCamp (Stavanger) | Dedicated base camp for Preikestolen hike, close to the trailhead, cost-effective | 💡 Practical Tips to Avoid Pitfalls 1. Transportation · Self-driving: You can use a Chinese driver’s license with a translation. Fjord roads are mostly mountainous with ferries; check ferry schedules in advance (booking recommended in peak season), watch speed limits and roadside cattle and sheep. · Public transport: Use Skyss.no to check buses and ferries in western Norway. Services are limited, so buy tickets in advance during peak season. 2. Hiking · For hikes like Trolltunga and Preikestolen, wear anti-slip hiking shoes, bring enough water and snacks, and carry a raincoat even in summer (mountain weather is changeable). · Beginners are not advised to attempt difficult routes alone; join local hiking tours where guides provide equipment and route guidance. 3. Prices · Norway is very expensive; a cup of coffee costs about 50 NOK (≈35 CNY), a simple meal about 200 NOK (≈140 CNY). It’s recommended to buy snacks and bottled water in advance. · Accommodation prices double in peak season (July-August), so book 2-3 months ahead. Small town guesthouses offer better value. 4. Other Tips · Bring an international credit card; most small towns do not accept cash. · Bring a thick jacket even in summer; fjords have large temperature differences between morning and evening, and mountain temperatures are even lower.

5 meters above the abyss: how we took photos on the Dagestan "Trolltunga" 🏔️ ❤️ After exploring the ruins and ancient towers of the Goor village, we finally made it to a spot we'd been dreaming of seeing for ages—the Dagestan "Trolltunga". Just picture this: several natural rock ledges jutting out over the Avar Koisu river valley and the peaks of the Caucasus Mountains. The biggest and most popular one gives you 5 meters of pure adrenaline (and it's exactly where you get the most epic shots). The Dagestan "Trolltunga" earned its name because it looks just like the famous rock formation in Norway. But it actually goes by another name too—"Maiden's Rock"—which comes with a tragic legend. Rumor has it that local village girls, heartbroken over unrequited love or forced marriages, used to throw themselves off this very ledge into the abyss in despair... Luckily, times have changed. Nowadays, girls aren't jumping off the edge—instead, they're snapping mind-blowing photos on the "Trolltunga" wearing flowing dresses with the mountains in the background. Naturally, we had to take a few shots here ourselves. We even dressed up for the occasion: I wore a long red dress (I was freezing, so I actually had a sweater, jeans, and sneakers on underneath 😅), while Lesha threw on a burka and a papakha (he instantly looked like a true dzhigit). ℹ️ In case you didn't know: a burka is a traditional Caucasian sleeveless felt cloak (back in the day, it was used for protection against the rain and even as a sleeping bag in the mountains). A papakha is a sheepskin hat that symbolizes a man's honor and dignity. No self-respecting highlander would ever be seen without his burka. Plus, it was also used for... bride kidnapping. This was a traditional custom in Dagestani culture where girls were reportedly wrapped in a burka and carried off to the village. 🗣️ So, would you risk stepping out to the edge of this 5-meter stone slab? Let us know in the comments!

Lofoten in winter is like a dream resting on the sea. Snow-covered red cabins, fishing village lights, and the aurora streaking across the night sky💫. As the E10 highway winds between mountains and sea, every turn is a cinematic masterpiece. Winter in Norway offers more than just this: The Arctic Cathedral in Tromsø shimmering under the aurora✨, Senja Island's snow-capped peaks like a poetic painting🏔️, and the red fishing cabins of Reine reflecting in the blue fjords💙. This is the romance the Arctic truly deserves. ⚠️ Travel Tips 📒 Visa: Schengen visa required; prepare 2-3 months in advance. 📶 Network: Norway or Nordic region eSIM card. 🧥 Clothing: Dress in layers! Thermal base layer + fleece + windproof down jacket. Ensure anti-slip soles for footwear. 📸 Photography: For aurora shots, use a tripod and manual mode (ISO 1600-3200, shutter speed 5-10 seconds recommended). 🍲 Dining: Lofoten is rich in cod and king crab. Restaurants are mostly concentrated in Reine and Svolvær; some rural restaurants may close in winter. 🕰️ Schedule: Supermarkets generally close at 6 PM, and many shops are closed on holidays (especially Christmas). Stock up on food and water in advance. ✈️ Five-Day, Four-Night Itinerary 🔹𝐃𝟏: Tromsø - Arctic Cathedral - Tromsø Bridge - Fjellheisen Cable Car - Senja Island 🔹𝐃𝟐: Senja Island - Devil's Teeth - Golden Toilet - Fjord Lookout - Narvik 🔹𝐃𝟑: Narvik Train Station - Sea View Ski Resort - Henningsvær - Football Field on the Sea 🔹𝐃𝟒: Reine - Hamnøy - Å Village - Sakrisøya Yellow House 🔹𝐃𝟓: Svolvær - Evenes - Tromsø ✅ Note: Roads in Senja and Lofoten are generally narrow, with frequent snow and ice in winter. If you lack snow driving experience, consider joining a tour or hiring a driver with winter driving expertise. 🌈 Must-Visit Highlights 💎 Fjellheisen Cable Car, Tromsø ✨ A scenic spot in the city of auroras! Take the cable car to the top of Storsteinen Mountain for a panoramic view of the city and fjords💚. 💎 Senja Island ✨ Known as the "Norway in Miniature," this hidden gem combines snow-capped mountains, bays, and cliffs. 💎 Henningsvær ✨ A football field surrounded by waves, the snow-covered pitch looks like a dream under the aurora⚽️. 💎 Reine & Hamnøy ✨ Postcard-perfect fishing villages in Lofoten, with red cabins reflecting in blue bays. Under the polar night, the stars twinkle, and every shot is a Nordic masterpiece🌠. 💎 Å Village & Sakrisøya Yellow House ✨ At the end of the E10 highway, the world's edge; the iconic yellow house set against snowy mountains and the sea feels like the exit of a dream🏡. 💬 If Zermatt is "the romance of snow-capped mountains," then Lofoten is "the poetry of the sea and auroras." This winter, the Arctic Circle awaits you for a date with the lights✨.

Kolugljúfur is a magnificent canyon located in the northwest of Iceland. It is cut by the Víðidalsá River. It is about 2 kilometers long and 25-30 meters wide. As the name suggests, it should be in the shape of a giant. But because we were "in the mountain", we were unable to climb higher and thus could not see the shape of the giant. Giant Canyon features many waterfalls of varying sizes.

Norway is a great country for hiking enthusiasts, offering towering mountains, fjords, lakes, glaciers, and massive cliffs. A highlight is the breathtaking fjord views from the hikes, with many famous routes located in the west of the country. 1. 🪨 Trolltunga — Troll's Tongue One of Norway's most famous routes, the viewpoint is a rock slab jutting out over Lake Ringedalsvatnet approximately 700 meters high. Starting from Skjeggedal, the round trip is about 27 km, taking 8–12 hours, and is considered a very difficult route. Suitable for those who are fit and well-prepared. 2. 🏔️ Preikestolen — Pulpit Rock A popular route near Stavanger, the destination is a large, flat cliff approximately 604 meters above Lysefjord. The round trip is about 8 km and takes around 4 hours. It's considered more accessible than more challenging routes like Trolltunga and Kjerag. 3. 🪨 Kjerag & Kjeragbolten Another spectacular route above Lysefjord. The highlight is Kjeragbolten, a rock wedged between cliffs. The round trip is about 11 km and takes 6–10 hours. It requires considerable climbing and physical exertion, suitable for experienced hikers. 4. 🏞️ Besseggen Ridge Located in the Jotunheimen region, the highlight is a ridge overlooking the turquoise-green Lake Gjende and the deep blue Bessvatnet on opposite sides. The route is approximately 13–14 km and takes about 6–8 hours, with some climbing sections along the ridge. Therefore, it's suitable for people in good physical condition. 5. 💦 Fosseråsa – Geiranger Suitable for those who want fjord views but don't want an overly strenuous hike. The route starts from the town of Geiranger and hikes up to Storsæterfossen, a large waterfall that can be viewed from behind. The distance from the Norwegian Fjord Centre is approximately 3.9 km one way. 6. ⛰️ Romsdalseggen A ridge trail with expansive mountain and valley views. Another popular route in Norway, suitable for those who want the experience of hiking on a high ridge rather than trekking in the forest. ⭐ Summary of the top 5 best hikes: 🥇 Trolltunga — The most spectacular view, but very tiring. 🥈 Besseggen — Beautiful mountain lake views. 🥉 Preikestolen — Easier hike and more suitable for beginners than the first two. 4️⃣ Kjerag — A must-try for adventure seekers. 5️⃣ Fosseråsa — A more relaxed hike enjoying nature and waterfalls.

#scenicviews My hike to Trolltunga was challenging, but the scenery along the way made the journey feel like part of the adventure. Once I reached the famous cliff, I was amazed by the enormous landscape stretching beneath me. The turquoise-blue lake contrasted beautifully with the dark mountain slopes, while the open Norwegian sky made everything feel even more dramatic. I took my time at the viewpoint because I wanted to appreciate the scenery instead of immediately moving on. Looking back, the view from Trolltunga is one of the strongest landscape memories from my travels and a perfect match for #scenicviews.

#scenicviews Visiting Trolltunga was one of the most rewarding scenic experiences I have had. The hike took effort, but reaching the famous rock formation made the journey worthwhile. Standing above the landscape, I could see the deep blue water of Ringedalsvatnet surrounded by enormous Norwegian mountains. The scale of everything around me was incredible, and I spent a long time simply taking in the view before taking photos. The dramatic cliffs, mountain slopes, and lake created a scene that looked almost unreal. Trolltunga gave me exactly the kind of breathtaking landscape I wanted to experience, making it a natural highlight for #scenicviews.

I set a goal to go on a solo hiking trip, and for this journey, I set my sights on Norway’s Trolltunga. The round-trip distance is about 28 kilometers. Between the hike itself, stopping for photos, and soaking in the views at the top, it took me a total of 14-15 hours. I started at 5 AM and didn't get back until 10 PM—my legs were absolutely shot! It was an exhilarating, challenging, and breathtaking hike that had it all. The entire trail felt like stepping into another world; there are no roads or paved paths, just small stone markers or painted signs left by others to guide the way, which made the trek even more exciting. The view everyone comes for is at the very end: the "Troll's Tongue," a rock ledge jutting out over a massive cliff with water flowing far below. It’s an unforgettable sight where fear meets beauty. More than just a photo op, it was a unique travel experience unlike any other. Seeing hikers from all over happily making their way up and down the trail together was amazing. It's hard to believe that such exhaustion could lead to such pure happiness.

#adventuretrips 📍Norway Trolltunga Trolltunga is one of the three most famous rock formations in southern Norway. It's called the Devil's Tongue 'cause this rock just sticks out horizontally from the cliff, hanging almost a kilometer above the ground. (Fun fact: in Norwegian, 'troll' means troll or giant, and 'tunga' means tongue). The hike is about 23-28km round trip, and it's not too steep, so it's super beginner-friendly ⛰️ Since this was my first solo trip from the University of Oslo and my first real hiking + camping experience, I decided to join a tour. Looking back, it was such a good call. Thanks, Norway, for giving me such a perfect first overnight hiking experience [哭惹R] I went with Trolltunga Adventure. Our group was about 10 people, with two guides leading the way. They kept us fed with snacks the whole time and made sure everyone got their turn on the rock for photos. It looks pretty scary from the side, but when you're actually walking on it, you don't even feel how high up you are. It's totally safe!! For dinner, they served us sandwiches and reindeer meat rice 🦌. I can't really remember how it tasted, but it was warm and super fragrant 😋 (Check out the rice pic in p5!). After dinner at the campsite, our guide took us on a little extra hike. When we got back, we roasted marshmallows and chatted by the bonfire as the sun was setting. The next morning, the guides woke us up with oatmeal and hot cocoa. When I opened my tent and saw the fjord, I honestly thought I was still dreaming. It was just so incredibly stunning [哇R] Our group had people from Amsterdam, Greece, Germany, France, Boston, and the Bermuda Islands. I was chatting with all these different people during the hike and by the bonfire. It was amazing to see how different everyone's lives can be, yet how free they all are. I felt kinda dazed on the way down, like some feelings are just meant to stay in the mountains. But I'm really glad I feel more connected to the world now. You have to start the Trolltunga hike from Odda town, which is near Bergen. I didn't rent a car, so getting there and back from Oslo by myself was a bit of a hassle. If you need a detailed route guide, check out the last three pics (I had to catch a flight back to the US on my last day, so I couldn't find a good Bergen-Oslo flight. If you have more time, you guys don't have to take that 6-hour bus [哭惹R]). #hikingandcamping #camping #overnightcamping #norway #devilstongue #trolltunga #trolltunga

Some viewpoints are beautiful. Others make your stomach drop just looking at the photo. Trolltunga is definitely the second kind. Perched roughly 1,100 metres above sea level, this enormous slab of rock sticks horizontally out from a mountain above Lake Ringedalsvatnet in Norway. And yes… People actually stand on the edge. But the view is what makes this place unforgettable. Deep blue water sits thousands of feet below, surrounded by enormous mountains, waterfalls and layers of Norwegian wilderness stretching toward the horizon. The hike itself is an adventure — roughly 27 kilometres round trip, depending on the route and conditions — so reaching the viewpoint feels like an achievement rather than simply arriving at a lookout. And that makes the final shot even better. Imagine the reel starting with tired footsteps on the trail. Quick cuts. Rocks. Mist. Mountains. Then silence. The camera reaches the final ridge and suddenly reveals Trolltunga hanging over the valley. Text appears: “The hike was worth it.” Then the wide shot. That’s the moment people stop scrolling. The landscape looks almost too perfect to be real, but there’s no special effect needed. Just one ridiculous piece of rock and one ridiculous view. 📍 Trolltunga, Norway 🥾 Best for: Adventure reels, dramatic landscape photography & bucket-list hiking content 🌦️ Important: Conditions can change quickly in the mountains, and the hike is demanding. Check current conditions and official guidance before setting out. And whatever you do… Don’t underestimate the hike just because the Instagram photo makes it look easy. Save this for the adventure that actually earns the photo. The Nordic fjords are mainly concentrated on the west coast of Norway, a masterpiece carved by glaciers and the sea over billions of years. In 2005, they were listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and are also one of National Geographic's top 50 must-visit places in a lifetime. ✨ Four Popular Fjords Check-in Guide 1. Lysefjord | "The Giant's Pulpit" (Most Thrilling) · Preikestolen: A natural cliff platform with a vertical drop of 604 meters, filming location for Mission: Impossible 6, rated by CNN as the "Top 1 of the World's 50 Most Magnificent Landscapes." · Kjeragbolten: A giant boulder wedged between two mountain cracks, unprotected, a top spot to challenge your courage. · Surroundings: Stavanger (colorful wooden fishing harbor), Haugesund (birthplace of Viking culture). 2. Sognefjord | "King of Fjords" (Longest and Deepest) · Total length of 204 kilometers, depth of 1309 meters. · Flåm Railway: 20 kilometers climbing 865 meters, passing through 20 tunnels, with waterfalls and snowy mountains outside the window. · Nærøyfjord: A secret branch with snowy mountains, waterfalls, and colorful small towns, full of fairy tale charm. 3. Geirangerfjord | "Concentrated Essence" (Most Beautiful) · 16 kilometers long, a World Heritage Site, surrounded by mountains and waterfalls. · Seven Sisters Waterfalls: Seven waterfalls falling side by side, rainbows always appear when the cruise passes by. · Eagle Road: A cliff road with 11 hairpin bends, the viewing platform overlooks the entire fjord. 4. Hardangerfjord | "Pastoral Poetry" (Gentlest) · Famous for apple blossoms, with flower seas blooming on both sides from April to May, sailing through feels like being in a painting. · Trolltunga (Devil’s Tongue): A 12-kilometer hike, standing on the "tongue" overlooking the fjord, an epic photo spot. 📅 Best Time to Visit · June to August (Summer): Midnight sun, 18-20 hours of daylight, temperatures 10-20°C, best for hiking and cruising, more tourists. · May and September (Spring and Autumn): Fewer people and beautiful scenery, flower seas in May, autumn colors in September, great value. · October to April (Winter): Northern lights and icy fjords, some routes closed, suitable for hardcore travelers. 🚗 Transportation and Activities · Classic combo: Flåm train + fjord cruise (a miniature of Norway, a must-experience). · Self-driving: Eagle Road + Trollstigen (Route 63), one of the world's most beautiful roads, cliff hairpin bends, breathtaking scenery. · Hiking: Preikestolen (4 hours round trip), Trolltunga (12 kilometers), bring anti-slip shoes and a windbreaker. 🏡 Accommodation Recommendations · Juvet Landscape Hotel: Glass dome, lie in bed watching meteor showers over the fjord, full of romance. · Fjord town cabins: Colorful wooden cabins in Flåm and Geiranger, open the window to see the fjord, great value. 💡 Practical Tips · Visa: Schengen visa (entering through Norway). · Gear: Waterproof windbreaker + anti-slip hiking shoes + sunglasses + camera (fjord weather is changeable). · Photography: Bring a wide-angle lens, phone cameras can't capture the fjord's grandeur; choose the right side seat on the cruise (Sognefjord for waterfall shots). · Budget: Norway is expensive, book tickets/boat rides in advance, bring your own snacks (instant noodles prohibited). 🌟 Why Must You Visit the Nordic Fjords? This is a pure land away from the hustle and bustle, with snowy mountains, waterfalls, clear waters, cliffs, midnight sun and polar night, and northern lights fairy tales. Every glance is a wallpaper, every step is breathtaking.

Trolltunga is the photograph everyone has seen: a tongue of rock jutting horizontally from a cliff 700 metres above a glacial lake with a person standing on the end looking impossibly small. It’s on a lot of bucket lists. Here’s the honest version. The hike is 27km return from the lower car park with around 800 metres of elevation gain. It takes 8-12 hours depending on fitness and conditions. This is not a casual walk. Tha needs proper hiking boots, waterproofs, warm layers (the weather changes fast even in summer), plenty of food and at least 3 litres of water. The stream water on the route is clean and drinkable. Start very early. The car park fills up quickly in summer and the path to the rock becomes crowded. Being at Trolltunga by 9am means tha gets the experience and the photographs without 200 other people in the frame. An alternative starting point from Skjeggedal (closer to the rock) reduces the distance to about 10km return. The road up to Skjeggedal car park is steep, narrow and requires a car with decent clearance. The moment tha stands on the tongue itself: absolutely worth every step of the 27km. Bring food. Bring a proper camera. And budget an extra hour for just sitting there trying to take it all in.
