Situated on the edge of the historic town of Westerham, Squerryes Park is a breathtaking 2,500-acre estate that has been the seat of the Warde family for nearly 300 years. This is a landscape where the grand tradition of the English country estate meets modern agricultural excellence. The heart of the park is defined by the magnificent Squerryes Court, a late 17th-century manor house surrounded by formal gardens, ancient parkland, and rolling hills that mark the beginning of the North Downs. The park is a tapestry of diverse habitats, from the high, wooded ridges of the North Downs Way to the sheltered valleys that now house the estate’s award-winning vineyards. The terroir here—a unique mix of North Downs chalk and greensand—is remarkably similar to the Champagne region of France, allowing the estate to produce some of England’s most celebrated sparkling wines. Beyond the vines, the park offers vast, sweeping vistas of "Capability" Brown-style landscapes, where ancient oaks stand guard over grazing livestock. Whether you are wandering through the bluebell woods in spring, exploring the formal parterres of the Court, or enjoying a tasting at the estate’s sophisticated cellar door, Squerryes Park offers a profound sense of heritage and high-quality rural life. Tips for your visit: · The Cellar Door & Garden Café: A visit to Squerryes isn't complete without a stop at their award-winning Deli and Cellar Door. It’s the perfect spot to sample their vintage sparkling wine while overlooking the very vines where the grapes were grown. · The North Downs Way: A section of this famous national trail runs through the northern edge of the estate. It provides the most dramatic views looking back down over the park and the town of Westerham. · Seasonal Garden Tours: While the house is a private residence, the formal gardens are often open during specific seasons. The 18th-century "Long Water" and the restored parterres are a must-see for garden history enthusiasts. · The Westerham Connection: The park is just a short walk from the center of Westerham. Combine your visit with a trip to the statues of Winston Churchill and General Wolfe on the village green. Squerryes Park is a sophisticated and vibrant estate that honors its deep roots while flourishing as a modern beacon of Kentish viticulture and landscape preservation. 🌳🍇🥂 #SquerryesPark #Westerham #Kent #EnglishVineyards #CountryEstate #SparklingWine #NorthDowns #HiddenGems #TravelDiary2026
