The Longest Day in Chang&#39;an was a particularly special stop on my trip to Xi&#39;an.

Before going, I thought it would mainly be Tang Dynasty-style scenery and Hanfu photo opportunities, but once inside, I found the performances and NPC interactions were the real highlights. The entire indoor space was designed like a Tang Dynasty market scene, complete with lanterns, taverns, shops, and actors, creating an atmosphere far more complete than typical antique-style commercial streets.

The ability to unexpectedly encounter performances while walking around was especially interesting; you didn&#39;t have to sit in a fixed theater waiting. Public information shows that the venue itself is themed around the TV series &quot;The Longest Day in Chang&#39;an,&quot; integrating Tang Dynasty cuisine, handicrafts, immersive performances, and interactive experiences into a space of approximately 24,000 square meters.

There are also downsides: it&#39;s relatively dark inside, crowded during peak hours, and there are quite a few commercial projects. If you&#39;re just going in to take a few photos and leave, I think it&#39;s a bit of a waste.

I recommend allowing at least 3 hours, checking the performance schedule beforehand, and being bold enough to interact with the NPCs.

If you&#39;ve seen &quot;The Longest Day in Chang&#39;an,&quot; or enjoy Tang Dynasty culture, Hanfu, and immersive performances, I think it&#39;s worth experiencing. It&#39;s completely different from the Tang Dynasty Never Sleeping City; one is about enjoying the night view, while the other is about truly immersing yourself in the experience.

Firstly, it's beautiful inside, with plenty of photo ops. If you'd like, you can dress up in traditional costumes and have a photo shoot with a photographer (the locals really love it). Secondly, there are small performances in different areas on different floors: in one place, they play local musical instruments, in another, they dance, and in a third, they put on an immersive show. All the performances are very colorful and fun! You can also grab a bite to eat and try some drinks inside.

Sitting at ~2,000m, there's no risk of altitude sickness, and the weather is mild and comfortable year-round.
Lijiang:
The city itself is at ~2,400m, with mountain locations reaching 4,500m+. Nights are colder here, and you might need an oxygen canister for the higher peaks.
Cost of the Trip
Dali and Lijiang:
This isn’t the "cheap" side of China. Prices here are definitely adjusted for tourists, so be prepared to budget a bit more for hotels, cafes, and entrance fees.
