MerPerle Crystal Palace

My stay at MerPerle Crystal Palace was fantastic. The hotel boasts a grand European-style decor, and the lobby is splendid and impressive. The guest rooms are spacious and tidy, with comfortable bedding, and the balcony offers an expansive view. Breakfast features a wide variety of dishes, a good blend of Western and Asian cuisine, and the Vietnamese pho is authentically delicious. Its close proximity to the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center makes it ideal for business travelers. The staff were polite and efficient. The rooftop pool and gym facilities are comprehensive, and the internet connection is stable.

The hotel staff were very friendly and the room was quite spacious. However, the facilities are a bit dated, and the breakfast selection was limited. It's about a 10-minute walk to the exhibition center, and there are large shopping malls nearby, which is convenient.

I suspect there's an organized theft operation going on at this hotel. I had $100, €100, and 2600 RMB stolen from me. The remaining 200,000 Lao kip and 300 HKD were untouched, which suggests the theft was time-sensitive and planned.

This was my first trip to Vietnam, and I'll be going every month from now on. I wasn't really aware of the local rules. The cleaning staff here rummaged through my trash bin every day, which I found to be an invasion of privacy. However, a problem arose when they found cigarette butts from my smoking in the trash. The hotel used this as a reason to fine me 40 million Vietnamese Dong. I'm not sure if the hotel has the authority to enforce such a fine or if it's based on local regulations. Since I was rushing to catch my flight, I didn't have much time to communicate with them and had no choice but to pay. This left a very bad taste in my mouth. If they had informed me about this on the first or second day, I wouldn't have had to spend such a large sum of money. It really soured my trip.
