The hotel entrance was so discreet that I didn't even realize it was a hotel when my car pulled up. Luckily, the butler was already waiting at the door to greet me. He explained that because it's an ancient building, they can't put up a sign, which also contributes to the hotel's unique sense of mystery. When I checked in, it was just in time for the late-night snack. This hotel offers breakfast until 11:30 AM, afternoon tea, evening drinks, and late-night snacks. You could easily spend a whole day here and be well-fed. The butler thoughtfully asked about any dietary restrictions, and indeed, none of my restricted foods appeared in the meals the next day. The food was delicious and definitely filling, and they even deliver it to your room in beautiful wooden bento boxes, which perfectly match the overall aesthetic. The windows didn't have screens, so mosquitoes got in at night. I was woken up by a mosquito bite around 4 AM, and after sending a message in the group chat, the butler immediately brought mosquito coils. I felt incredibly well-cared for at all times. All the bath products are Le Labo Santal 33, which I absolutely love. Even the welcome bag was a canvas tote. The old house offers great privacy, and the room was very well soundproofed and quiet. They even gave me a farewell gift when I left. It was truly an excellent experience.

Wow this is the best hotel experience I’ve had in China during my 1-week solo vacation to recharge myself! Pros: -Personalized service/communication: the manager will create a WeChat group a few days before arrival to provide information on nearby tourist spots, hotel rules etc. You can also use this group to book complimentary experiences such as the photoshoot and afternoon tea. I arrived late during the day of checking, but will also leave late the day I checkout so they arranged for my afternoon tea to be the following afternoon. They also booked my photoshoot for after I arrived and the photos are really good (see attached). The manager also sat down with me during check in to go over the breakfast and late-night menus, and to arrange my meals for a certain time. I also asked for late check-out and they were able to accommodate me to 2PM! -The food: I think everything is made fresh because the noodles at breakfast would not be al dente if it had been sitting on the counter for a while. The salted chicken for my late night snack was absolutely delicious. -All amenities are provided (toothbrush etc. They even provided a tub cover (single use) for the bathtub! -I booked the basic room expecting a cramped room and having to be strategic about opening my many suitcases. But the room is HUGE! It even had an electric fireplace and a large TV, and a seating area with a sofa. The bathroom is also huge and had a small area with a chair that acted as a vanity. -Located in the oldest quarters in Guangzhou - it is close (about 20min walk) to Yongjiufang (the only place I wanted to visit so it was great!) -Hotel ambience/exteriors: the hotel consists of 2 European-style houses connected by a newly built hall and elevator. Everything was classy and was clearly put together by someone with great taste! Cons: -The lighting in the room and the hotel itself is dark in order to keep the ambience consistent. However, there is light where it’s needed, but it will not be bright anywhere. -It is right across from a bus stop, but relatively far from subway stations so it might be inconvenient for those hoping to use the subway as the main method of transport

I really liked the room's aesthetic – it has a great style. The beef rice noodles at breakfast were delicious; even for someone who loves spicy food, the mild flavor was very appealing. The staff were responsive and didn't delay; they even helped me carry my luggage up and down. I could store my luggage and explore for a while. There were a few small cats in the courtyard, which was quite therapeutic. The ambiance was there, but the indoor lighting could be brighter. While the design focuses on atmosphere and a sense of tranquility, guest experience is still important. The indoor air freshener was a bit heavy for me; I personally prefer a light lemon verbena scent. When I first entered the room, that strong, stuffy fragrance was a bit off-putting. However, the hotel's complimentary afternoon tea was lovely, and the congee for supper was good, though the dumplings were just okay. The guesthouse also offered a free travel photoshoot, which was a thoughtful touch. The concierge group service was a definite plus.

This guesthouse is a beautifully renovated century-old Qilou, and you're greeted by a warm, woody scent upon entering. The butler was attentive without being overbearing, and the amenities were complete. The bedding was comfortable, and despite being centrally located, it was surprisingly quiet. It was super convenient for getting around, finding food, and sightseeing. My stay was really comfortable.

This guesthouse is a hidden gem! A charming, understated Republican-era mansion nestled right in the heart of the bustling city. The decor and layout are thoughtfully designed, creating a relaxed and cozy atmosphere. It's incredibly clean, and they've chosen high-quality toiletries with great taste. The complimentary late-night congee was wonderfully fragrant and comforting. And breakfast, served beautifully in a tiered bento box, was both visually appealing and delicious 😋 I'll definitely be staying here again next time I'm in Guangzhou!

After arriving at Guangzhou High-Speed Railway Station late last night, we booked this hotel last minute (at 1488/night). I never expected this to be the most absurd hotel/homestay experience ever. After checking in, we discovered at 1:15 AM that there was no hot water. My husband had to take a cold shower, and I waited until nearly 3 AM for the hot water in the bathroom to be fixed. Then, to my surprise, the sink stopped working. This morning, I had to do all my washing up using the bathtub faucet. On top of that, the cleanliness was subpar; when I opened the bathrobe, there was a dead mosquito on it. I contacted customer service and requested a refund, but the hotel offered only an 85% discount (a refund of 223 RMB??). I can't understand that, I'd rather have nothing. Not to mention, we stayed less than 11 hours in total. We just wanted a good night's sleep, but ended up washing up and going to bed after 3 AM. The bathroom sink was practically unusable this morning, and we checked out at 10:10 AM. This is by far the worst and most outrageous check-in experience I've ever had. I strongly advise against staying here!!

Location is really nice to explore the Liwan side of guangzhou. Hotel is absolutely beautiful, food was lovely. Rooms are big and quiet, very nice to chill in. Only downside is that the room was quite dark; there aren’t many lights installed. The hotel managed to find an extra lamp for us.
