Introduction
Some information may have been translated by Google Translate

In Qingdao, riding a speedboat is the ultimate way to experience ocean thrills. Leap aboard, and as the engine roars, you'll instantly shoot across the water like an arrow. The sea wind rushes past, and spraying seawater delivers a continuous adrenaline rush. Admire the modern skyline of Fushan Bay or the majestic coastline of Laoshan Mountain from a unique perspective, enjoying the perfect blend of speed and stunning scenery. It's more than a ride; it's an unforgettable adventure to release stress and embrace pure freedom.

Passion Motorboat: Gripping the handlebars, feel the engine's roar harmonize with wave rhythms above the cresting swells. Each turn sprays refreshing droplets, composing summer's most exhilarating symphony where heartbeat and waves co-write freedom's score.

Speedboat Sightseeing: Viewing the Huilan Pavilion from the sea, Badaguan's red roofs and green trees blur into flowing oil paintings. Skilled captains navigate between reefs and islands, revealing the coastline's hidden beauty from new perspectives.

Chuxiu

"Chuxiu" is a solo exhibition by artist Yu Hailong, held at the Song Art Museum in Beijing's 798 Art Zone, opening on September 12, 2026. ⭐ The exhibition brings together Yu Hailong's recent innovative practices centered on landscapes, gardens, scholar's rocks, and traditional ink wash painting. It serves as both a look back at the Chinese landscape tradition and an exploration of how he re-enters history, understands time, and seeks contemporary ways of viewing through painting. ⭐ Over the past two years, Yu Hailong has consistently used ink wash as a medium to explore time, history, and self-expression. His core focus is the "Xuanhe 65" series, which employs a method of "painting archaeology"—meticulous comparison, morphological reconstruction, and invisible ink annotation—to endow ancient stones with a new visual logic. ⭐ Born in Changyi, Shandong, in 1986, Yu Hailong is a 2023 graduate of the Central Academy of Fine Arts with a focus on landscape painting. He currently teaches at the College of Arts at Qingdao University of Science and Technology, and his works have been featured in numerous national art exhibitions. ⭐ Exhibition Address: Song Art Museum, 798 Art Zone, Beijing ⭐ Exhibition Dates: September 12–October 20, 2026

Tsingtao Beer Museum: Is It Worth It & How to Avoid Overpaying

Tsingtao Beer Museum: Is It Worth It & How to Avoid Overpaying

I'm not exaggerating when I say Qingdao *really* loves its beer. If you ever find yourself in this city, hitting up the Tsingtao Beer Museum is an absolute must. It’s an iconic spot, even if you’re not a huge fan of a cold brew. · -- 🎫 How to Buy Tickets — Plan Ahead During peak season, it’s best to snag your tickets in advance via the WeChat mini-program (search for 青岛啤酒博物馆). In the off-season, you can just scan the QR code right at the entrance. Pro tip: You technically need a Chinese phone number to buy them. If you don't have one, just punch in a random string of digits or your hotel's phone number. It totally works! · -- 💳 Ticket Options — Which One to Choose? You've got a few options: · Standard — Access to two pavilions + tasting — 60 RMB. · Upgraded — Three pavilions (includes an interactive one) + tasting — 95 RMB. · Lunch Combo — Two pavilions + tasting + lunch — 120 RMB. · Beer Set Combo — Two pavilions + tasting + a beer set — 109 RMB. Out of all these, I highly recommend sticking to either the Standard or the Beer Set Combo. The upgraded interactive pavilion is really just a matter of taste, and you can definitely skip the lunch if you want to save some cash. · -- 🏛️ What’s Inside? Right as you walk in, there's a small building packed with interactive installations. Honestly, it feels more geared towards kids—feel free to skip it if you’re short on time. Next up is Pavilion A. Fair warning: it gets super packed during high season, making it a bit tough to take everything in. This area walks you through the brand's history, showcasing the evolution of their packaging, vintage posters, and archival photos. After that, you step out into the courtyard—this is your prime photo op! The lighting, the exposed brick walls, and that gritty brewery vibe make for some killer shots. · -- 🏭 Pavilion B — The Heart of the Museum This one's a lot bigger. It breaks down the whole brewing process from malt and grain: you'll see replica brewing kettles, massive vats, and interactive displays of the production cycle. There’s even a viewing gallery overlooking the actual working factory where you can watch the beer being bottled and packaged in real-time! To top it all off, the tour ends at a tasting bar and souvenir shop. If you opted for the Beer Set ticket, you can grab your goodies at the bar downstairs by the exit. It’s a small but sweet perk—especially after a long walking tour 😉 · -- The Verdict: Go or Skip? Definitely go. Even if you don’t drink, it’s a fascinating glimpse into vintage industrial history. And if you are a beer lover? It's a total no-brainer. Have you ever been to this museum? Or are you planning a trip? Let me know in the comments 👇 P.S. The last photo actually shows the museum exit, not the entrance. The main entrance is a bit further down the street.

Sail into Qingdao’s Night Magic at the Olympic Sailing Marina 🌊🌃✨ The Qingdao Olympic Sailing and Marine Culture Tourist Area transforms after sunset, glowing with neon reflections over calm harbors—a nightlife must-see with a touch of ocean breeze! Start your evening stroll along the spacious wooden boardwalk, gazing out at rows of sailboats swaying under city lights. Pause at the iconic Olympic Rings for that essential “I’m-in-Qingdao” shot—aim for the rings with the modern skyline in the background for a truly insta-worthy angle. Keep your camera ready as the cityscape glimmers; the best night photos are captured near the wharf or with the sparkling LED-lit sculptures on the water’s edge. Don’t miss the fountain show if you spot one (they sometimes light up the promenade with colorful displays!). Grab a snack from a nearby vendor—fresh local seafood or classic street food adds flavor to your night walk. If you fancy a cool breeze, head out onto one of the viewing platforms for an unbeatable panorama of the illuminated marina stretching into the haze. Personal tip: Nighttime is perfect for a visit—fewer crowds, softer lighting for photos, and a chill vibe. Dress warmly, especially if it’s windy (the sea air cools quickly even in summer), and watch your step on the sometimes slippery docks. Late hours mean some eateries may close early, so don’t wait too long for dinner. #Qingdao #OlympicSailingCenter #NightView #HarborVibes #TravelChina

54 Square: Must-See in Qingdao, or Just a Quick Photo Stop? 🇨🇳

#hotdiscussions #chinatravel #qingdao Qingdao’s May Fourth Square (五四广场) is one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks, with its striking red “May Wind” sculpture overlooking Fushan Bay. It’s especially atmospheric around sunset, when the waterfront lights up and the skyline starts to glow. At first, I wondered if it would just be another landmark for a quick photo and move on. Instead, I enjoyed the atmosphere around the bay — the open waterfront, the skyline behind it and the red May Wind sculpture standing prominently by the sea. It felt less about the monument itself and more about experiencing Qingdao’s modern side. But is 54 Square actually worth making time for? Some travellers see it as an essential stop for first-time visitors, while others feel it’s more of a place to snap a few photos before moving on to Qingdao’s beaches, old town, or Laoshan. What do you think — must-visit landmark or overrated tourist stop? And if you’ve been, what was your favourite time of day to visit?

Local one-day trip

A spontaneous local trip for one, it couldn't be more comfortable~ 😌 Started the morning from Xizhen 🚶 Wandering through the hustle and bustle of the old town Strolled leisurely to Signal Hill ⛰️ Reached the top to overlook the entire old town of Qingdao Red tiles and green trees in full view 🏘️ At noon, took the subway straight to Shilaoren (No. 287 Haikou Road, Laoshan District, open all day for free~) Healed by the sea breeze the moment I got off 🌊 Walked slowly along the seaside promenade of Shilaoren Beach With the blue sea on my left and the art pieces of the Sculpture Park on my right Who understands this kind of comfort! 🎨 In the evening, rushed to Wheat Island Park (Maidao Road, Fushansuo, Laoshan District, also open 24 hours) The sunset at this time was unbelievably beautiful 🌅 The sea surface was dyed gold, and the sky was pink and blue Every shot is a masterpiece 📸 Today's weather was just perfect Blue sky and white clouds paired with the sea breeze 🌤️ So comfortable that I wish time would stop at this moment ✨ Another day healed by Qingdao~ Already looking forward to the next city walk! 🥰

Village Mall in Huangdao is no ordinary shopping center.

Village Mall in Huangdao is no ordinary shopping center.

Forget everything you know about traditional malls! Village Mall in Huangdao really stands out from the crowd—no jam-packed stores under a single roof, multi-level floors, or endless corridors. Here, every boutique is a standalone, stylish building with its own street entrance. Strolling past the window displays, cafes, and shops genuinely feels like wandering through a mini-European shopping village. 🤩 Address: Village Mall, Huangdao, China Hours: Usually 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, but definitely check the hours on trip.com so you don't miss out! Everything at Village Mall is incredibly upscale! It's packed with luxury brands and high-end boutiques—the perfect spot for some serious retail therapy and gorgeous photos. 🛍️ But the real magic happens in the evening when the lights come on and the store windows literally glow! The entire mall transforms into a chic little town with a truly sparkling, fairytale vibe. ✨ We got "lucky," though—we visited during the day and even got caught in the rain! 😂🌧️ Our photos didn't turn out as vibrant with the gray skies and wet streets, but the atmosphere at Village Mall still completely won us over. My top tip: Visit closer to the evening! Take a stroll around the boutiques, grab a seat at a cafe, and take in the stunning night lights. Village Mall isn't just about the shopping; it's all about the vibe, the atmosphere, and walking under the twinkling lights. 💫 Are you a fan of this open-air shopping center format? Let me know in the comments and drop a like! 👇

Must-visit Nanshan Park in Qingdao

Must-visit Nanshan Park in Qingdao

Nanshan Park in Xiaocunzhuang is truly an underrated treasure! 🌳 📍Address: No. 42 Anshan 2nd Road, Shibei District, Qingdao 🕐Opening hours: Open all day, free admission Don't let the 23-meter elevation fool you. This is a happy place for local residents 🌟 Built in 1990, this old park has been completely renovated as of 2023. [Park highlights] 🏛️ Historical spots The park still preserves the "Pangu Creating the World" relief! Although the once-popular Chinese Mythology Cave is closed, this historical mark can still produce retro-style photos 📸 🌿 TCM theme area Sculptures of famous doctors like Hua Tuo and Li Shizhen are scattered throughout the park. It's a great place to learn while walking, perfect for bringing kids along. 🎡 All-age activity plaza The new facilities after the renovation are amazing! Slides and climbing frames are all set up. It's no problem to let kids burn off energy all day ✨ 📸 Photo spots The area by the park railing is super photogenic! Use the stone ball decorations as the foreground and the lush green trees as the background for effortless, artistic photos. Visiting the park on a sunny day is pure bliss! Find an afternoon to soak up the sun, look at the greenery, and have a picnic—it's just so relaxing 🧺

in touch with Taoism...

Laoshan or Mount Lao, located just outside of Qingdao in China's eastern Shandong Province is known as the one of the cradles of Taoism. It's affiliation with Taoism is historic and can be seen it it's many well-preserved pagodas, gates, stupas, temples, statues, as well as the surrounding scenic beauty. The whole area is set against majestic mountain faces and peaks, adjacent to the ocean below, providing a stunning contrast-especially if you climb up to the top! There are many places to buy a souvenir or a snack here, or even a namesake cold Laoshan beer! I recommend watching the monks walk around and performing their religion duties at the various temples whilst breathing in the scented smell of the fragrances they burn outside. Getting here is relatively simple from downtown Qingdao; taxi, private car or bus are the easiest ways to get to the main entrance, taking about 30 minutes. Once there you will need to buy tickets and board another tourist bus up the mountain to the steps anyway, driving along the picturesque costal road. You can do this place in half a day. I suggest doing it in Spring or Summer in the late afternoon, as you can witness the sunset over the ocean. I highly recommend this as a place you should visit and I was very happy I visited here. #2023travelwish #mytripvlog #tripblazers

Back from Qingdao, and honestly, I don’t really recommend going in August or September because it’s too...

Just returned from Qingdao, feeling the sea breeze and speaking from the heart: Qingdao in August and September isn’t a struggle at all—it’s clearly a summer paradise kissed by the sea breeze! This place is all about a laid-back, slow travel vibe, easy on the legs the whole time, perfect for both seniors and kids to have a great time✨ 🌿 The effortless, easy-on-the-legs perks 1. Plenty of indoor venues (beer museum, aquarium) to escape the heat in the afternoon, combining rest and fun comfortably The biggest feeling after visiting is: this is what summer should be like! The taste: so fresh it’ll make your eyebrows drop, you’ll want to suck the shells clean! 2. Mackerel dumplings: classic Jiaodong dish, thin skin, full filling, juicy burst in every bite, tender fish with no bones. The taste: the ocean explodes in your mouth, pure happiness! 3. The taste: fresh to the core, goes so well with rice you can eat two bowls! 4. Liuting pig’s trotters: intangible cultural heritage dish, soft and not greasy, smooth jelly skin, great cold or hot. The taste: full of collagen, chewy and flavorful, so good you’ll lick your fingers! National Day family trip to Qingdao Zhanqiao: 3 days, 2 nights, stress-free, for a family of 3 for CNY 1,500

National Day family trip to Qingdao Zhanqiao: 3 days, 2 nights, stress-free, for a family of 3 for CNY 1,500

Qingdao during the National Day holiday doesn't have the summer crowds or scorching sun. The October sea breeze is cool, making it the perfect time to take kids to the beach and feed the seagulls. Avoiding the crowded influencer spots, this route focuses on a slow pace and high cost-performance. Below is our 3-day, 2-night budget and itinerary. 🏨 Accommodation (Total: approx. CNY 600) We recommend staying near the Qingdao Railway Station or Zhanqiao in the Shinan District. For family trips, being within walking distance of key attractions saves the hassle of taking taxis. Book half a month in advance for the National Day holiday. Look for homestays with courtyards in the old town; family rooms are about CNY 300/night, totaling CNY 600 for two nights. 🎫 Tickets (Total: approx. CNY 100) Zhanqiao is free. The main expenses nearby are the Qingdao Underwater World (approx. CNY 150/person, half price for children) and Signal Hill Park (approx. CNY 15/person). When traveling with kids, we suggest choosing 1–2 indoor venues and spending most of your time at the beach and in free parks. 🚗 Transportation (Total: approx. CNY 200) For getting around the city, the subway is the best choice (download the "Qingdao Metro" app); it's very convenient with a stroller. Taxi starting fares aren't expensive, but the old town is prone to traffic jams during the National Day holiday, so we recommend using the subway and walking. 🚶 Itinerary Day 1: Feeding seagulls at Zhanqiao + a slow walk through the old town (Cost: approx. CNY 50) Arrive at Qingdao Station by high-speed train in the morning; Zhanqiao is just a few minutes' walk from the station. Seagulls have started arriving for the National Day holiday. Buy some old bread to feed them, and the kids can play for the whole afternoon. In the afternoon, stroll along Zhongshan Road to St. Michael's Cathedral, feed the pigeons in the square, and take some photos. In the evening, head to Tuandao Farmers' Market to buy fresh seafood and have it cooked at a small local restaurant—it's cheap and authentic. Day 2: Underwater World + No. 1 Bathing Beach (Cost: approx. CNY 300) In the morning, visit Qingdao Underwater World (right next to Zhanqiao) to see the dreamy Jellyfish Palace and the underwater tunnel; the kids will definitely love it. In the afternoon, take the subway to the No. 1 Bathing Beach. The water is a bit chilly in October, so swimming isn't allowed, but it's very pleasant to let the kids dig in the sand, collect seashells, and enjoy the sea breeze. In the evening, check in at the popular photo spot on Daxue Road; there are many cute cafes nearby, perfect for a break with the kids. Day 3: Signal Hill Park + Departure (Cost: approx. CNY 50) The last day is easy on the legs. In the morning, go to Signal Hill Park. It's not very high, and you can climb to the top in 10 minutes to overlook the old town of Qingdao with its "red tiles, green trees, blue sea, and blue sky." This is definitely the best spot to take a family photo with the kids. After coming down, have some Qingdao steamed buns nearby, buy some local specialties, and head home relaxed. 💰 Total cost Round-trip high-speed train (approx. CNY 500 from nearby cities) + accommodation CNY 600 + tickets, dining, and transportation approx. CNY 400, totaling about CNY 1,500. 🛑 Practical tips 1. There is a large temperature difference between morning and evening in Qingdao during the National Day holiday, so be sure to bring a windbreaker for your child. 2. When feeding seagulls at Zhanqiao, don't hold the food directly in your hand to avoid being pecked. It's best to use a bamboo skewer to hold the bread. 3. Be sure to wear non-slip sneakers when traveling with kids. The old town has many slopes and cobblestone roads, so we recommend bringing a lightweight stroller. 4. There are many people soliciting boat rides near Zhanqiao; be cautious and don't just board any boat.

Qingdao Trip (Part 3)

Qingdao Trip (Part 3)

A One-Day Tour of Qingdao's Coast     After finishing our visit to Yangkou, the benefits of hiring a private car became clear. Our driver turned the car around and took us along the coastal highway, allowing us to leisurely explore the various scenic spots along the island city's coastline.     First, we arrived at the Shilaoren Bathing Beach. The expansive beach stretched along the sea, with gentle waves lapping against the golden sand. Visitors were either strolling along the shore or sitting quietly, watching the ocean. In the distance, the solitary rock formation known as the "Old Man" stood in the sea, greeting the sunrise and embracing the sound of the tides for thousands of years, quietly guarding the vast waves of the Yellow Sea.     Next, we headed to Xiaomai Island. The small island floats on the blue sea, with winding trails rising and falling across it, adorned with wildflowers and lush grass. The four of us strolled around the island, the sea breeze carrying the fresh scent of grass and trees. Upon reaching a spot near the sea, we suddenly spotted a coastal swing. Feeling a sudden burst of childlike joy, we took turns sitting on it and swaying gently. With the waves crashing and the sea and sky opening up before us, it felt as if we had regained our youthful spirit. We leaned against the coastal railing, using the blue sea and sky as our backdrop, and took turns posing for photos. We walked up to the island's hilltop and looked around: on one side, the buildings of Qingdao stretched out, and on the other, the vast, boundless blue sea, with white gulls skimming the waves. When our spirits were at their peak, the four of us each chose our favorite scenery, standing amidst the green hills and sea to capture the moment, entrusting the joy of traveling with old friends to these green mountains and blue seas, our laughter drifting with the wind.     The final stop of our day's itinerary was the Huashi Building, located on the cape of Badaguan.     This ancient castle-like building was built in 1930. It was originally the summer villa of a Russian newspaper tycoon named Lapiqi. The exterior walls were constructed using a mix of Laoshan granite and various pebbles, creating a colorful, mottled texture, hence the name "Huashi" (Flower Stone) Building. The architecture blends Roman, Greek, and Gothic styles, standing proudly on the cape of Taiping Bay, facing the Second Bathing Beach. The building has five floors—one underground and three above ground—with an observation deck on the tower top. After nearly a century of wind and rain, its stone structure remains as vigorous as ever.     The four of us walked slowly into the building, stepping on the cool stone paths, carefully reading the old photos and historical materials on display. The exhibits record the past visits of national leaders to Qingdao in the 1950s: in the summer of 1957, Comrade Mao Zedong came to Qingdao and often swam in the nearby Second Bathing Beach. It was under the shade of this very beach that he held a meeting of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee, discussing state affairs accompanied by the blue sea. Old-generation leaders like Zhou Enlai and Chen Yi also walked among the red tiles and green trees of Badaguan, leaving their footprints behind. Chen Yi once stayed at the Huashi Building, expressing his feelings while facing the sea, leaving behind many stories. Frame after frame of black-and-white photos were displayed in silence, with time frozen in these small squares. We paused to watch quietly, imagining the turbulent times of the past.     Following the rustic spiral wooden staircase, we could see the sea from the windows on every floor. Leaning against the window, we looked out at the Second Bathing Beach, where a bay of blue sea stretched out, with long beaches, lush forests, and red-tiled houses hidden in the thick shade. Waves rolled toward the beach one after another, and the salty, moist sea breeze blew through the windows. Looking at the vast Yellow Sea, the water and sky merged into one; looking closer, the green pines swayed, and the castle, beach, and blue sea blended into a single whole. The century-old castle listened quietly to the sound of the tides, and the glorious events of the past contrasted with the leisurely visitors before us, reflecting each other through the window.     Climbing to the top observation deck, the view was even more distant. The sea breeze was mighty, and we overlooked the vast blue waves of Taiping Bay, with the international villas of Badaguan hidden in the forest sea. Touching the rough granite walls, we thought back to the stories of the Republic-era villas and the past when leaders discussed state affairs and rested by the sea. The sea remains the same, and the sound of the tides continues as before.     The day's journey began at the strange peaks of Yangkou and continued through the coastal scenery. The mountains hold a fairy-like charm, and the sea contains warmth. Traveling with close friends, this trip to the mountains and seas of Qilu leaves a long-lasting aftertaste.     After the tour, I realized that the schedule arranged with the guide in the morning was a bit tight. We enjoyed the sights to the fullest, but he had been driving and guiding us all day, exhausted, and I felt a twinge of guilt in my heart.     To maintain the consistent style of the Qingdao travelogue, I have included the poem "Caisangzi: Returning from Yangkou and Visiting Badaguan":       After touring the peaks of Laoshan, we followed the tides back,       To the beach of Shilaoren.       Clouds idle over Xiaomai Island,       The Huashi castle gazes at the wide waters.       The blue waves still remember the events of the past,       Leaning by the window to watch the tides.       The sea stretches endlessly,       A fresh breeze accompanies the joy of friends all the way.

Stunning Qingdao High-Altitude Relaxation

Stunning Qingdao High-Altitude Relaxation

Sometimes the most important part of traveling is staying in the right location with a great view. This time, staying at Pusu·Island Letter in Qingdao was a great choice for me. The hotel is located right at Yan'er Island subway station, on the top floor of the Hyatt Center, boasting breathtaking views of Qingdao. You can walk out the door to reach Lover's Wharf and May Fourth Square. The most popular room type features a super large terrace and a high-altitude bubble pool. May Fourth Square and the Qingdao skyline 🌃 are all within sight. When I first checked in, there was an advection fog, making it feel like living in a cloud fairyland. Fortunately, the fog cleared before I left, gifting me a farewell sunset. The hotel rooms are quite spacious, with clean and soft bedding, and the latex pillows provided are especially comfortable. Amenities include facial cleansing wipes, mouthwash, makeup remover, mud mask, and facial cleanser. The toiletries are from Atelier Cologne, and the turndown service includes a branded eye mask. The hotel's public areas are very stylish, featuring a spiral staircase and artistic decorations perfect for photo ops. On the rooftop, the guesthouse’s own afternoon tea brand, Anke | AKṢARA, offers floor-to-ceiling windows with Western Gothic design, making it one of Qingdao’s top sea view spots. Additionally, on the same floor, there is a high-altitude bar and an art exhibition, making the experience quite rich and diverse.
