Guangzhou 5 days 4 nights, budget 12,000 THB 🇨🇳
Hello again with my 2025 China trip review: Guangzhou–Shenzhen [8–12 March 2025]
· Airline ✈️: China Southern Airlines (round trip), full service + 23 kg baggage allowance. 5 stars.
Outbound: 02:10–05:55, no delay. Fell asleep as soon as I got on the plane.
Return: 23:00–01:00, no delay. Fell asleep as soon as I got on the plane.
· Hotel 🏨: Senvuuge Hotel, near the airport. Far from the tourist spots, but cheap. About 35 minutes into the city by car. Kind of tiring, but I slept in the car.
As for the destinations, we went to so many places. Walked like crazy, to the point I wanted someone ready to call a DiDi and take me straight back home.
⭐️ Day 1: After landing in the morning, we rested and then went out in the afternoon, evening, and at night.
🏨 Checked into the hotel at 8 a.m. (Senvuuge Hotel). Executive Room, 2 beds, 1 bathroom, no bidet spray.
📍Liurong Temple - Headed into the city at noon to visit the temple and pay respects. The weather was secretly so cold I was shivering—12°C.
🚇 Metro Line 2, Gongyuanqian, Exit H2
📍Shamian Island - European-style buildings everywhere. People were dressed to the nines. Tons of shops, cafés, restaurants, and cheap clothing stores.
🚇 Metro Line 1, Huangsha, Exit D
📍Yongqing Fang - A major highlight. Came around dusk to stroll through an old town that doesn’t really feel old. There’s a Pop Mart, lots of grand shops, and a lit-up bridge where the water reflection looks like a crescent moon. So good.
🚇 Metro Line 1, Huangsha, Exit B
⭐️ Day 2: We hit quite a few places today and walked a lot, but the atmosphere was great. Not as cold as Day 1.
📍Yuexiu Park - A public park for a casual stroll… until I was out of breath and ready for a wheelchair. The landmark here is the Five Rams Statue. That’s the main thing.
🚇 Metro Line 2, Yuexiu Park, Exit A
📍Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall - Just a short walk down from the first stop. Came here mostly just to say we came, but didn’t go inside. There seemed to be some student booths or an event going on.
🚇 Metro Line 2, Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall, Exit D2
📍Dongshankou - This place is it. Seriously stunning. Chinese teens here dress so well. Lots of clothing stores, food spots, and cafés. Super stylish, unique, and full of European-style buildings. Walked forever. My feet wanted to quit, but they survived. Stopped by a restroom with no bidet spray, classic China style, but it was clean so no complaints.
🚇 Metro Line 6, Dongshankou, Exit E
📍Beijing Road - A must-visit pedestrian street. It has everything. Food, souvenirs, malls, good restrooms—everything happens here. If you need one place, it’s Beijing Road.
📍Dafo Temple - After walking around Beijing Road, we stopped by this temple nearby. It’s beautifully lit up at night. A temple right in the middle of the city—just go.
🚇 Metro Line 6, Beijing Lu, Exit A or B
⭐️ Day 3: A very good day. Ate until we were stuffed and explored the city’s high-rise district, taking in the grandeur of all the office buildings.
📍Chen Clan Academy - I was a little confused, but the place is beautiful. Really beautiful architecture, with a strong traditional Chinese feel. It’s a museum.
📍Mall - Some mall right across from the first place. We crossed over to eat at Shishiro. It felt a bit like Siam Square, with lots of restaurants.
🚇 Metro Line 1, Chen Clan Academy, Exit E
📍Sacred Heart Cathedral - A beautiful Christian church. Nice for a casual check-in and photos. On the way out from the metro, there were shops selling dried seafood. Impressive smell, in every sense.
🚇 Metro Line 6, Yide Lu, Exit A or B
📍Dian Dou De - A legendary dim sum restaurant dating back to 1933, with branches all over, so just pick a convenient one. It was around 100+ yuan, but the food looked great, portions were big, and there was plenty to eat. Eating there made me feel oddly Chinese—in a good way.
📍Guangzhou Opera House - It looked like a spaceship from Star Trek. Wear black-and-white tones and take photos around the outside of the building—it’s amazing.
📍Zhujiang New Town - A business district full of skyscrapers, very much that modern China vibe, with lights and illuminated building displays.
📍Huacheng Square - Seemed like there was more to see, maybe a mall underneath, but we were too tired to explore. Just crossing the street was enough.
📍Canton Tower - This is the landmark. If you come to Guangzhou, you have to come here. Coming here alone feels like you’ve truly arrived in Guangzhou. The lights around it are beautiful, and walking across the bridge to see it is stunning.
⭐️ Day 4: Shenzhen 1-Day Trip by Metro + DiDi
📍Guangzhou South Railway Station - The station is massive and incredibly grand. It felt almost unreal, like being off-planet. The design and technology felt so advanced.
📍Coco Park - Started at the mall. It has everything, kind of like CentralWorld in the middle of the city, plus the tallest building in Shenzhen nearby.
📍Shenzhen Museum of Contemporary Art & Planning Exhibition - Went so the itinerary wouldn’t feel too empty, but the exhibition halls were huge.
📍OH Bay - This mall has Zhongshuge Bookstore and a Ferris wheel, kind of like Asiatique, as its highlights. Riding bikes around there felt really nice.
⭐️ Day 5: At leisure. Picked up souvenirs and did some shopping at these two places because they were so good we had to go back.
