Been a few times now and it's been disappointing my friend had the silverside of beef it was so tough that when she was trying to cut it the entire table shook it was so tough. I had the chicken which was like rubber if I'd have dropped it I've no doubt it would have bounced back on to my plate. Needlessly to say we won't be going back 😳

We had a lovely experience celebrating my partner’s birthday at the skate restaurant. From the moment we arrived, the staff went out of their way to make the evening special. Chloe, the receptionist, was especially helpful—she took the time to decorate our table beautifully and even arranged candles for the birthday cake, which made the moment feel extra thoughtful and personal. The food was fantastic, full of flavour, and the portion sizes were generous too—definitely great value for money. Overall, a brilliant evening with great food and even better service. Highly recommend ! 😁

Friendly, helpfull staff. The room was clean and modern, with a comfortable bed. Chris seemed to work 24hrs 7 days and went out of his way to help and to ensure our comfort.

First time visiting this restaurant and we had the Sunday lunch. Beef brisket was beautiful! Excellent staff and fast service. Lovely interior and facilities, looking forward to visiting again to try the Main Menu! Thank you for a lovely Fathers Day sunday lunch.

A home from home. Four of us arrived for our first night stop on a cycle ride along the North Wales cycle Path. We had booked in advance and were greeted by very friendly staff who showed us to a room by the reception where we could safely leave our bikes. ( very important for cyclists., We found our single rooms to be clean, comfortable, with a TV nice hot shower and coffee/ tea facilities on hand. That evening we discovered an excellent locally brewed ale available at the well stocked bar and I must say the steak I had, with all the trimmings, was really really good. Service was top notch and the staff were so friendly and helpful. But the highlight was breakfast.... a Full Welsh with bacon, black pudding, sausage etc. etc. was just the thing to see us off on our day's ride. A great place. I have promised my wife I will take her there for a night or a weekend. Well done The Slate, you were brilliant.

If you want a good night sleep do not, and I mean do not go to The Slate for a night. The music and noise did not stop until past 1 am and I needed to be up the following morning to go up Mount Snowden at 8.30 am. I have emailed them to complain and no-one has had the decency to get back to me. Please do not stay here unless you want to party like it's 1999 with the rest of them in the bar.

Me and my partner came here last night to celebrate his birthday. When I called to book I asked if anything could be added to the table to surprise my partner for his birthday, they said they could do this. When we arrived there was nothing which disappointed me. Throughout our time here we also noticed the service was not good at all compared to other times we’ve been here. It was slow, no smile from any of the staff, forgetting about us etc etc. There was also only 1 vegan option on the menu which I personally think is not good enough considering how many options used to be on the menu and the amount of customers they will receive who are veggies/vegans… all in all I feel The Slate has gone down hill over the last few years. Little things add up unfortunately and I don’t see myself returning for another few years until I see a change.
