Modern hotel, located on the Quayside in Gateshead, with views of Newcastle City Centre, The Tyne and the Millennium Bridge.
The hotel car park was full on arrival and we had to park at another Car Park five minutes walk away, which the receptionist suggested, at a cost of £5.90 for 12 hours and then extend for a further four hours to avoid a penalty ticket. Suggestion. Perhaps the hotel could negotiate a preferential or discounted rates for their guests!
First impressions of the reception and bar areas were favourable.
However, things deteriorated after this. The hotel looks tired and needs some investment in the bedrooms. The corridor on the second floor was dirty and didn’t appear to have been vacuumed that day.
Rooms were small and basic. A Double and a single bed have been crammed into the room, which didn’t leave a great deal of floor space. Perhaps, this is so they can accommodate coach parties.
No safe in the room or even a box of tissues. Bath was chipped, wood surrounding the bath had been replaced at some point, by a five year old child, judging by the quality of the work. Bathroom mirror needed replacing, as the silver reflective coating was flaking.
Breakfast buffet was adequate, but not worth the money being charged. Hot food, but no vegetarian options, other than mushrooms or potatoes or remnants of scrambled egg.
Not a Four Star experience, despite four stars outside the Main entrance. I’ve stayed in better three star hotels
