Great location at the start of many hiking trails. Room was in need of renovation. Fridge was not very clean. Nice restaurant, coffee bar and convenience store at the reception centre.

It's a rustic cabin that's pretty quiet. There's no Wi-Fi or tv so if you want to unplug for a while it suits that purpose. The lodge was nice and good hikes around the area

The room was ok acceptable for the price range. It was so refreshing unplugging from the internet. We have a 5 year old daughter and initially we were not excited about it but hey it worked! More family time, being outdoors! The brochure said there will be at least one board game in the room but ours didn’t have one and when we asked the front desk they offered us the puzzle. I suggest having more younger kid friendly board games available too! The coffee shop was good but I felt like at the times I went it was busy so they were running around. The gift shop lady who helped us was not friendly at all. Not sure if it was because we were there early or what, she didn’t engaged on any conversation, no human connection. The front desks staff were all helpful. Overall, we loved Big Sur Lodge and we will definitely go back especially when the pool is open since its so cold to even walk by the river!

Restaurant closed at 7:00; and prices are way too pricey for the scale of the property; cafe had only 2 sandwiches. Rooms have no TV/cell service; plain Jane; need upgrading.
