Shinjuku Washington Hotel

I stayed at Shinjuku Washington Hotel and unfortunately, it didn’t meet expectations. I understand that hotel rooms in Tokyo are generally compact, but this one felt exceptionally small. There wasn’t even enough space to slide a large suitcase under the bed, which made unpacking and moving around quite inconvenient. The bathroom design was also problematic—the toilet and bathroom floor were noticeably elevated, so stepping in and out felt awkward and almost like a small jump each time. The location was another downside. While it’s technically in Shinjuku, the immediate surroundings felt more like a business district than a tourist-friendly area. It was quiet and somewhat gloomy, especially at night. Dining options nearby were limited and underwhelming. Although Shinjuku Station is within walking distance, the walk felt long and uninspiring, with very little to see or explore along the way. Starting the day with that walk was already tiring, and the thought of carrying shopping bags back made it even less appealing. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel, especially for travelers with larger luggage or those looking for a lively, convenient base in Tokyo.

Very small room, unable to open up luggage. Toilet is small as well, room is very hot, unable to open up window. Location is not very pleasant, there’s nothing nearby, 15 mins walk to Shinjuku JR station. However if you are taking airport limousine transfer, will alight right in front of hotel. Breakfast is the best, having the view at 25th floor with wide varieties of choices, even fresh fruits available. Many restaurants in the same building, even tax free drug store for last minute shopping, as well as a small family mart.

The directions from Shinjuku station to the hotel are a mess. We were lost in the tunnel maze. The linked way to Shinjuku station is wonderful, we are connected to the rest of Tokyo immediately. The airport limousine is also very convenient.

Location was excellent. There is an underground walkway that connects the hotel all the way to the nearest train station. Plenty of food options around too. They have 2 locations for the morning breakfast buffet. The standard room size is quite small but I guess this is common for many hotels in Japan. So most hotels also have a luggage storage area.
