The Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur

I mentioned it was my birthday trip in the notes, and they decorated the room and provided a chocolate cake! The room was clean, and every day we had fresh towels, bed making, and a mini cake service!

We chose The Ritz-Carlton for our trip to Kuala Lumpur, and its location is excellent. It's less than a 5-minute walk to Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, and there's an indoor walkway from Pavilion to KLCC. The Ritz's quality and service are consistently top-notch, from the check-in process at the front desk to breakfast and the evening turndown service – everything was great. It offers fantastic value for money. Staying here is a really good choice when visiting Kuala Lumpur.

Facilities: Old and dated, and the room was quite dark. Cleanliness: Clean and tidy. Service: Very warm and welcoming ❤️🔥. Check-in was super fast, and they were always ready to help with any request. Location is excellent! Right next to Pavilion, Eslite Spectrum bookstore, and a night market/food street with all sorts of delicious and popular eateries. It's about a 20-minute walk to the Petronas Towers, and there's a direct skybridge.

This Ritz-Carlton is rumored to be the 'floor' (benchmark/standard) for all Ritz-Carltons globally, offering excellent value for money among Kuala Lumpur's five-star hotels. Firstly, the hotel environment is absolutely magnificent, with a classic European style. The service was also quite good; the front desk even upgraded our room type upon check-in. The room facilities were well-equipped too. During our stay, a service attendant would come for turndown service every evening and even brought snacks. My friend's room was quite noisy, and they were promptly moved to another room. The hotel's location is also fantastic, very close to Pavilion, and there's a dedicated covered walkway directly connecting it to Starhill Gallery. Of course, there were some drawbacks. For example, the breakfast was quite disappointing, to the point that we preferred to eat out on subsequent days. Additionally, the soundproofing in the rooms was not very good.

1. Arrived at 5 PM, and check-in took over an hour, which was incredibly slow. 2. For the first night, they assigned me a room right next to the elevator, which was incredibly noisy. I couldn't sleep until 2 or 3 AM; it was buzzing all night. 3. Breakfast was also unappetizing with very limited options.

This was my first trip to Kuala Lumpur, so I spent a lot of time choosing a hotel, mainly considering location and safety. The Ritz-Carlton offered good value for money. The lobby is luxurious and grand, but the in-room facilities are indeed a bit dated, especially the carpet which looks very old. However, the overall cleanliness was good, and the bathroom seemed to have been renovated, it was refreshing and functional, though the lighting was too harsh and couldn't be adjusted! To wash my hair, I had to switch the hot water from the regular showerhead to the rainfall showerhead, which provided plenty of water. The walk-in closet design was very convenient and practical for ladies! It's worth noting that every staff member I encountered had a smile on their face and was incredibly friendly. There was no discrimination or coldness towards Chinese guests as some reviews mentioned. In fact, when we arrived at 1 AM, the front desk lady enthusiastically escorted us to the elevator. The sofa in the room was quite large and could easily accommodate an adult for sleeping. When we arrived at 1 AM, we requested an extra quilt, and a handsome waiter delivered it with a smile within 10 minutes. Another time, when taking a taxi, the Indian driver claimed the system showed a one-way detour and requested an extra 10 cash. Since it was indeed a long detour through the hills, and I didn't want any trouble, I agreed, but I had no cash, haha. Upon arriving at the lobby, I explained the situation, and the lobby manager, S.VINOTHE, kindly paid for us. He even told us not to worry about paying him back (though we immediately withdrew cash from a nearby ATM and returned it to him). The bellhop with the flowers even kindly offered candy to my child. The bedding in the room wasn't as thick as what you'd find in China, and the hotel isn't facing a main street, so there was no noise from speeding motorbikes. We slept very comfortably for all three nights. The breakfast, however, was definitely not suited for a Sichuan palate (Sichuan and Hunan cuisine should rule the world!). I didn't have time to use the swimming pool, and I extended my check-out by 30 minutes. Overall, my stay felt well-organized and the service was warm and enthusiastic. The hotel felt welcoming and comfortable, and I highly recommend it!
