I had one of the worst hotel experiences of my life at YEHS Hotel. If there were an option to give a negative rating, I would give it –100000. From the moment we arrived, the hotel was extremely disappointing. Even the reception area was dirty and had a strong unpleasant smell. When we entered our room, the toilet was stinking, the bathroom was not cleaned properly, and basic toiletries were not functioning. The toilet flush took 40 minutes to refill, making it practically unusable. When I reported this to the staff, I was told to “use the public toilets” instead of being offered a solution or another room. No one came to fix the issue until the next day, despite repeated complaints. My experience with Trip.com was equally frustrating. Their escalation manager was rude, dismissive, and more interested in commanding the conversation than helping. The hotel manager, Hannley, was disrespectful and dishonest. She even denied being the manager at first and insisted nothing could be done. When I showed her the toilet issue, she claimed it was “normal” and later reported that everything was working, implying that I was simply being difficult. After such rude behaviour and unacceptable conditions, I requested a cancellation and refund for the remaining nights or at least a coupon to move to another hotel. Both Trip.com and the hotel refused and only offered a different room after wasting my time and ruining my stay. All I kept hearing from Trip.com was “just wait, we can’t do anything,” which is unacceptable for a company that claims to support travellers. This experience completely spoiled our vacation and caused unnecessary stress.

I booked this hotel for New Year's Eve to watch the fireworks. The location is super convenient, very close to several fireworks viewing spots, just a 15-minute walk away. I don’t usually leave reviews, but our experience at Yehs was so awful that I feel obligated to warn others. On our second night, we found a big cockroach running in our room. We tried moving bed to find it. It became clear to us that the room had not been cleaned after the previous guests. Trash, dirt, and obvious signs of previous occupancy were still there. Completely unacceptable. When we went to the front desk for help, the staff told us they had no other rooms available and suggested to use cockroach spray and mentioned that it’s safe sleep in a room since it’s “odorless”. That was their solution. No urgency, no concern for our safety or comfort. He said we didn’t have evidence of the cockroach. We had to moved everything till we find the cockroach, killed it and took picture for him. Then he apologized. The staff was generally unhelpful, and although they assured us a refund for the night, the manager was just as dismissive. She refused to give her name and told us that she would “put the request in,” but unsurprisingly, we’ve heard nothing back since. No follow-up, no refund, no accountability. This hotel showed zero professionalism, zero cleanliness, and zero respect for guests. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this place. I wish someone had warned us—so I’m warning you now.

Excellent location, however, it lacks on cleaning and amenities. I dont mind it being a very old building, but the plumbing and electrical systems are terrible. The shower would go extremely hot to extremely cold within seconds, then boiling hot again. The power points next to the bed are for international plugs so the standard Australian plug does not work, the usb power point makes a funny noise when connected, and the standard Australian power points available in the kitchen and lounge room are very low voltage, taking hours and hours to charge an iphone. The room itself is a great size, although it is very old and not well looked after. Both tvs in the room were old(not smart) with only one having usb port, which was the lounge room one, so in the bedroom you can only watch open channels.
