I booked this place mainly because it had a pool and it’s part of DoubleTree, so I expected a certain standard. Check-in was actually great. I arrived four hours early and they still gave me a room right away, which I appreciated.
But honestly, the room they put me in felt like it wasn’t meant for guests at all. It was dirty, no towels, the kettle was full of limescale, and everything was dusty. I didn’t complain since they accommodated me early, but it really set the tone.
The hotel itself has a very odd feel to it. Some parts look decent and modern, but overall it reminded me more of a care home. Most areas are tired and in serious need of updating. Also, there were still Christmas decorations up in late June 2025, which pretty much sums it up.
I used the pool, sauna, and steam room the next day, and I was shocked at how bad it all was. The facilities were filthy and in disrepair. When I arrived, the guy at reception was on his phone having a chat, didn’t even look up. I had to wave to get his attention, and he just pointed at a clipboard for me to sign in.
The changing rooms were soaked and smelled musty. The showers were partly broken, and the water would stop every few seconds so you had to keep pressing the button constantly. The steam room and sauna were a joke - the doors had big gaps so all the heat escaped. The steam room barely got warm, and the sauna was sitting at 65°C, nowhere near the proper temperature of 90–95°C.
The pool water was very murky and dirty, not at all inviting. I genuinely don’t know how this place is still operating as a 4-star hotel. I’d be embarrassed to have my name attached to it. At best, it’s maybe a 3-star and that’s being generous.
