While perhaps less ornate than the colossal Széchenyi or the Art Nouveau masterpiece Gellért, Lukács offers an incredibly authentic and therapeutic experience that feels genuinely Hungarian – and crucially, it's significantly gentler on your wallet. From the moment you step into its bustling, yet unpretentious, atmosphere, you sense that this isn't just for tourists; it's a vital part of daily life for many Budapest residents seeking solace and healing in its mineral-rich waters. The sauna here, in particular, is a highlight, working wonders to truly relax the body after a day of city exploration, melting away any lingering tension. For future travelers contemplating a visit, a few practical tips will ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience. Make sure to bring your own swimsuit, a towel, and most importantly, flip-flops – they're essential for navigating the wet floors. While you can rent towels and buy swim caps (often required for the dedicated swimming pools), coming prepared saves you time and money. I'd recommend planning to spend at least 2 to 3 hours here, allowing ample time to explore the various indoor and outdoor thermal pools (each at a different temperature!), try the steam rooms, and unwind in the saunas. This hidden gem provides a quieter, more local alternative to the bustling tourist hotspots, offering a genuine glimpse into Budapest's enduring thermal bath culture.#hungary #budapest

I visited in January, so I went there hoping to try the 42 degree bath. It was a weekend, so I arrived just after 9am to avoid the crowds and was able to enjoy all the baths. The faint smell of sulfur warmed my cold body. There is an open-air bath on the rooftop where you can enjoy a view of the Danube, but it is not very large, so it is best to avoid going during the day when it gets crowded. There is an All in tickets (13,200ft) for the weekend, but towels and other items are charged separately, so I brought my own swimsuit, sandals, and towel.
