Fish Scale Dam

Fish Scale Dam

5.1
5.0/5
2 reviews
Fish Scale Damis situated on the river in the village and is a weir formed by layers of gentle slopes and cascading water. The dam structure spreads out step by step along the river surface, and the well-arranged structure resembles layers of outstretched fish scales, looking like terraced fields laid out on the river. On sunny days, sunlight falls on the water surface, and the clear river water flows slowly along the dam structure, sparkling with fine ripples. The layered, scale-like texture is clearly visible, forming a dynamic view of the water town. This dam was not built solely for viewing purposes. It also serves to store water and regulate water flow. It can be used to store water during normal times, and it can act as a buffer for the river during flood seasons. While fulfilling its practical water conservancy functions, it also adds a unique scenic view to the village.Cangwu · 47.9 km from downtown

The arcade city refers to the continuous arcade group in Wuzhou Hedong Old Town. The arcades are not uncommon in the south, but not many can be called "city". This arcade in Wuzhou is not only well preserved, but also one of the best in terms of architectural concentration and scale in my country. From Dadongshang Road to Beihuan Road and Guilin Road, you can see not only Nanyang-style and Baroque-style arcades, but also many historical buildings and old houses. Of course, there are also many specialty shops and delicious snacks. When the merchants were prosperous, there were more than 1,500 large and small businesses in the arcade city. The former glory has long since faded, and the small shops along the street are running their own business and have become a tepid leisure area. There are many sculptures reflecting the style of Wuzhou on the street, showing the life scenes of the citizens of Wuzhou in the old days. Walking on the street between the arcades, the huge statue of the Dragon Mother in the distance quietly overlooks the old city. In the midst of this prosperous change, many historical relics are still preserved. The former site of the Dadong Post Office on Dadong Shang Road, from which a telegram was sent in 1884, is still reserved as a post office today. There are many beautiful modern dwellings in Weixinli. The deep-walled compound and the exquisite carvings are worth savoring. The Catholic Church built in 1898 is also located here. Walking in the arcade city, there are many specialty shops along the street, and Wuzhou specialty snacks are also not to be missed.Wuzhou · 34 km from Cangwu

The Elephant Hill Scenic Area is located in the heart of Guilin, at the confluence of the Li River and the Peach Blossom River. It derives its name from its resemblance to a giant elephant stretching its trunk to drink from the sweet waters of the Li River. In his work "Records of Elephant Hill," Shu Shu, a Qing Dynasty official from the Ministry of Works, wrote: "The marvels of Guangxi lie in its mountains; the marvels of Guangxi's mountains lie in their rocks, and the elephant-shaped hill facing the provincial capital is the most marvelous of all." With its lifelike form, the attraction captivates visitors and stands as a quintessential representation of Guilin's landscape. In 1995, it was designated as the city emblem of Guilin. The main attractions in the scenic area include: Elephant Hill and Water Moon, Puxian Pagoda, Elephant Hill Scenic Area and Guilin Sanhua Liquor, Elephant Hill Scenic Area - Love Island, and Elephant Hill Scenic Area - Yunfeng Temple Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Exhibition Hall. Elephant trunk hill and water moon cave "Elephant trunk hill and water moon" is a spectacular wonder here, as described in the poem by Ji Bei Hermit of the Song Dynasty.Harmony of water, moon and caveThe poem reads: "The moon is beneath the water, the moon floats upon the water. The water flows but the moon stays, the moon departs yet the water still flows." On a moonlit night, visiting the Water Moon Cave at the Elephant Trunk Hill attraction presents a magical scene where the moon in the sky, the cave, and the water reflect each other beautifully. Inside the cave, you can find the "Poem and Preface of the Morning Sun Pavilion" by Zhang Xiaoxiang from the Song Dynasty and works by Fan Chengda.Inscription on the water and moon caveAnd over 50 precious cliff carvings including Lu You's poetry manuscripts. Xiangshan scenic area - Puxian pagoda Winding up along the rocky cliffs, you can see the Puxian pagoda standing tall amidst the greenery from afar. Built during the Ming dynasty, this 13.6m-high solid brick lama-style pagoda has a history of over 400 years. On the northern side of the pagoda, there is a line-engraved bluestone statue of a bodhisattva, with the mantra "Namo Puxian Bodhisattva" inscribed above it, hence the name Puxian pagoda in the Xiangshan attraction. Buddhist scriptures record that Puxian bodhisattva's mount is a six-tusked white elephant, making the pagoda's location atop Xiangshan mountain a perfect embodiment of this scripture. Elephant Hill Scenic Area and Guilin Sanhua liquor This is a natural wine cellar, with two-thirds of the mountain being hollow. It stays warm in winter and cool in summer, maintaining a constant temperature of 19°C and humidity above 90% year-round. Since the Song Dynasty, it has served as an official cellar for storing Sanhua wine. Sanhua wine is colorless and transparent, with a fragrant yet spicy taste. It drawsLi RiverWith the essence of the mountains and the soul of the Li River, it has become a representative of China's rice-aroma liquor. The cellar liquor was designated as a tribute to the imperial court as early as the Northern Song Dynasty and is one of the three treasures of Guilin. To date, nearly a thousand tons of liquor are stored in the caves. Love island Love island is located on the north side of the attraction, adjacent toLi RiverIt is another scenic viewpoint for distant viewing. The island boasts a beautiful environment and lush vegetation, making it a popular dating spot for locals in the 1970s, hence the name "love island". Today, it serves as an outdoor photography base for wedding celebrations against the backdrop of Guilin's landscape, where couples make their vows of love under the witness of the elephant trunk hill and the moon reflected in the water.China · Guilin

The Dragon Mother Temple is located on the east bank of the Guijiang River in the north of Wuzhou City. It was built to commemorate the Dragon Mother. The "Dragon Mother Culture" is one of the more unique local cultures, similar to the "Mazu Culture" in Fujian. There are many pilgrims who come to the Longmu Taimiao on weekdays. Every year, the eighth and 15th of the fifth lunar month are said to be the birthday and immortal day of the Dragon Mother, which is the busiest time of the Longmu Taimiao. Standing at the foot of the mountain, you can see the golden statue of the Dragon Mother from a distance, which is solemn and magnificent. Walking all the way up the mountain, you can watch clay sculptures, murals and temple buildings with ethnic characteristics along the way. The mountain is not too high, the 38-meter-high statue of the Dragon Mother is located on the top of the mountain, and it is also a good place to overlook the scenery of Wuzhou. You have worshipped Longmu Taimiao, and you can also walk to the arcade city not far away.Wuzhou · 33.8 km from Cangwu

Zone A at the base showcases Guangzhou's history, culture, economy, and tourist attractions, along with providing tourist services. The reviewer took his children from Changsha and drove for more than two hours to the niche scenic spot in Liuyang - Yulingba in Huali Village. The journey was quite long. After arriving at the scenic spot, he found that the scenic spot did not give people a stunning feeling, and the experience was average. However, the air quality here is great, rich in negative ions, and the water quality is relatively clean. In summer, it is a more suitable place for children to play in the water.

The incense is very popular. This is the first time I have seen such a large incense coil. I like the smell of incense in the temple! Ringing the bell and beating the drum are free. The staff at the ticket gate will help keep the luggage. It is very suitable to bring parents around. ...

1. I never went during my years studying in Nanning, but thanks to my son, I got to visit. It was tiring, but incredibly fun. A great place for families where kids can burn off energy while adults stay entertained. 2. It was during summer vacation, so it was quite crowded. The only regret was not getting a chance to take photos with the giant water lilies. My son keeps talking about it, saying he'll definitely go earlier next time to queue. 3. The best route is to take the sightseeing bus directly to the top of the mountain and then walk down, which is less tiring.

When visiting Guilin, a must-see is Elephant Trunk Hill, the city's iconic landmark. It truly lives up to its reputation as the face of Guilin's landscape; only by seeing it in person can one truly appreciate the wonders of nature. The entire mountain sits on the banks of the Li River, resembling a giant elephant bowing to drink from the water. The Water Moon Cave cuts through the mountain, its reflection shimmering in the water, creating the famous Elephant Trunk Hill and Water Moon spectacle—a flowing ink painting. The scenic area is clean and comfortable, with walking paths built along the Li River, shaded by lush trees, making for a delightful stroll. You can climb the mountain for panoramic views of Guilin, or find classic vantage points along the riverbank to capture stunning, atmospheric photos. Boat trips are also available, offering a different and breathtaking perspective of Elephant Trunk Hill from the river. The scenic area is conveniently located in the city center, with excellent transportation and comprehensive facilities. Every step reveals a new vista, allowing you to truly experience the unparalleled beauty of Guilin's landscape. Don't miss it when traveling to Guilin; it's definitely worth a visit.

The overall scenery is average, and admission is free for locals. Entering from the north gate reveals the newly built Dragon Mother Temple. It's recommended to enter from the southwest gate to see the old temple, which is more popular with worshippers. The path to the Dragon Mother statue is entirely up to steps, which might be a bit strenuous for those with mobility issues; if you walk quickly, you can complete the tour in about an hour.

💖Love it!! A truly idyllic retreat, a perfect day trip from Beijing! In the tea mountains of Liubao tea in Wuzhou, I found my ideal relaxing day and witnessed a miracle... 🤞Standing on the suspended mountain walkway, I was gently enveloped by an endless expanse of green. A deep breath filled me with millions of negative ions, the air thick with the refreshing aroma of tea. Stepping into the tea 🍵 intangible cultural heritage workshop, I felt the warmth of the iron wok, watching the fresh leaves curl in my palm, releasing an aroma that no perfume could replicate—a truly healing scent. 💋But what surprised me most was the adventure for my taste buds. I must recommend these two dishes—the "Black Stone Mountain Sesame Mousse Cake" made with Liubao tea. Its exterior is a deep, dark color, but the taste is unexpectedly smooth and light, with a rich tea aroma that melts on the tongue, subtly sweet and not cloying. 😘And that special "Black Stone Liubao Waterfall Iced Coffee"—the mellow aroma of Liubao tea collides with the fragrance of coffee, a refreshing sip that instantly awakens all the senses, the perfect reward after a hike. 💞This place feels like a parallel world steeped in the aroma of tea. I look forward to a future where I can quietly admire the mountains, focus on learning tea ceremony and wellness, or simply find joy in a custom-made cake and a cup of special Liubao tea. 📍 Location: Wuzhou · Black Stone Liubao Tea Garden 📸 Recommendations: Cloud Mountain Plank Road View, Intangible Cultural Heritage Tea Frying Experience, Specialty Cakes, Black Stone Liubao Iced Coffee, Tea-themed Accommodation Transportation: A few dozen kilometers by car after flying or taking the high-speed rail. 🚗 Driving to the accommodation is recommended for an immersive experience and to savor the moment.
