Trou Aux Cerfs Volcano

Mauritius is an island formed by volcanic eruptions. The Ludong crater in the central plateau is located on a dormant volcano. The crater is cone-shaped. It is a representative scenic spot in Mauritius, and it is also the origin of Mauritius. The volcano on the sea is this one. The environment on the mountain is due to the dormant state of the volcano. Today, the crater is full of houses and overgrown with plants. Plants like a green carpet make the quiet volcano come alive. Going to the scenic crater along the way is about 600 meters above sea level. If you want to see the face of the crater, you can charter a car. Along the way, the car will follow the undulating road, enter a quiet and rich residential area, and then drive up a steep slope. , stop in the parking lot, and then need to hike a steep road to the top of the crater. Mountaineering Landscape There will be pavilions, benches and well-tended lawns along the roadside during the climb, all of which are used by tourists to rest and have a picnic here. If you are climbing in the afternoon, you can also enjoy a wonderful romantic sunset time. After climbing the steep mountain road to the top, you can enjoy the scenery around the volcano. The surrounding rolling mountains and green grasslands are full of beauty. There are railings at the top of the mountain top view, you can hold the railings with your hands, and you can clearly see that the crater is well preserved. The crater has been clogged with years of rain and silt. During the rainy season, a small pool forms at the bottom of the crater, and when the weather is sunny, the crater dries up. It can be seen that there are dense thorny shrubs and forests growing on the four walls of the crater, and the rich vegetation makes the extinct volcano appear green with life. If it is not for the introduction of the guide, you may not really see that this is the volcano that once erupted violently. There used to be deer here, so it was called "Deer Cave", but now there are so many tourists that the deer are scared away. Standing on a high point viewing the crater, you can take pictures and look at the surrounding beauty. After that, you can walk down from the heights, and there is a path around the crater to the right. Walking on the path overlooks the central plains of Mauritius. Walking on the path, there are hawkers buying local souvenirs on the side of the road. You can enjoy the local souvenirs in the hands of the hawkers while watching the scenery. Turning to the other side of the crater along the path, it is still that silent and speechless. The place where lava spewed and roared in ancient times is now covered in lush vegetation. The crater also has an inward natural vertical water curtain, and the silver-white waterfall hangs in the green crater, which is very poetic. There are also some beautiful houses and gardens around the crater to visit. After the visit, you can also go to the town to experience the way of life of the local residents and appreciate their folk culture.Curepipe · 1.6 km from downtown

Chamarel Seven Colored Earth Geopark

4.5/5

Chamarel Seven Colored Earth Geopark is located in the Black River District near Chamarel in southwestern Mauritius. It is a rare natural colored sand dune. The debris and volcanic ash left by ancient volcanic activity have weathered over many years in the hot, humid climate. The iron, aluminum, and other minerals they contain have oxidized in varying proportions, gradually creating layers of red, brown, purple, blue, and green bands. These bands spread out along the undulating hills, resembling, from a distance, a piece of colorful silk wrinkled by the wind, cascading down from the lush forest. The sand dune area is small and enclosed by railings and boardwalks. Visitors can walk along the viewing platforms to look down. From different angles, they can see the subtle changes in the direction and intensity of the color bands, which are especially distinct when sunlight shines obliquely. The sand dunes themselves are barren, forming a sharp contrast with the surrounding lush vegetation and adding a touch of mystery.Chamarel · 21 km from Curepipe

155 reviews
Baie du Tamarin is located in Tamarin on the west coast of Mauritius, backed by mountains and facing the Indian Ocean. This sheltered area with clear waters is a signature spot in Mauritius for boat trips to watch and swim with wild dolphins, and the sea is exceptionally calm in the early morning. As you head out from the shore by speedboat, the water transitions from nearshore turquoise to deep sapphire blue. Once a pod is spotted, the boat slows down for close observation. Dolphins often leap from the water in succession, and you may even encounter them riding the bow waves. The boat trip itinerary usually includes time to get into the water. Putting on a mask and jumping in to watch sunlight beam through the clear water as pods of dolphins glide past is a long-standing, popular experience here.Flic en Flac · 16.3 km from Curepipe

Blue Bay is located on the southeast coast of Mauritius, south of Mahebourg and not far from the international airport. The bay's water features distinct shades of blue, transitioning from light green near the shore to deep blue, and with its fine white sand, it is a favorite leisure spot for locals. The area is home to a wide variety of coral, including patches of fire coral, table coral, and the famous brain coral. Colorful tropical fish swim among the corals, and you may even encounter sea turtles. The lagoon is shallow and calm, with reefs outside to block the waves, so even snorkeling beginners can safely enter the water in shallow areas just a few meters deep.Pointe d'Esny · 24.4 km from Curepipe

Pont Naturel is located on the southern coast of Mauritius and is a natural stone arch bridge made of black basalt. It is famous for its natural arch structure formed by the long-term erosion of coastal rocks by waves. The dark volcanic rock contrasts with the azure seawater, creating a unique coastal landscape in Mauritius. Waves constantly crash against the rock walls, passing through the underside and crevices of the rocks, creating layers of white spray and showcasing the powerful natural force of the Indian Ocean coast. The view here is affected by tides, wind, and sea conditions, so you may see different wave patterns and seawater colors when visiting at different times.Camp Carol · 23.5 km from Curepipe

Baie du Cap

57 reviews
Baie du Cap is a small headland on the southwest coast of Mauritius that juts into the South Indian Ocean. It is named for its remote location facing the open ocean, as if one has reached the end of the land. The coastal road here makes a sharp U-turn around the giant rock at the tip of the headland. Taking a photo from above the rock, capturing the road and the blue sea in the same frame, is a highly recognizable scene on the southwest coastline. Climb the stone steps to the small observation deck on top of the rock to enjoy the sea breeze, with the deep blue Indian Ocean on one side and the winding coastline on the other. In the evening, this is a great spot to watch the sunset over the sea as the sun slowly sinks into the Indian Ocean on one side of the headland. The beach is also scattered with round reefs of various sizes. At low tide, as seawater flows through the crevices between the rocks, it creates a series of wonderful sounds.Bel Ombre · 24.3 km from Curepipe

Fortress Hill is located in the center of the capital Port Louis. It is the commanding height of Port Louis. From the top of the mountain, you can overlook Port Louis and the old racecourse. You can clearly hear the prayers of Muslims like singing. Various buildings The buildings on Fortress Hill are very attractive. The buildings here are basically built by the British, and many different styles of castles have been built. The fortress on the mountain is called Adelaide Castle. It has a history of more than 180 years. Like the Great Wall of China, every brick and tile is a man-made building, but the building area is much smaller than the Great Wall. Now there are a few cannons left standing high, and Yu Wei is still the same. The castle was in ruins due to years of disuse and was renovated in the 1990s. Looking at Fortress Hill from different angles, you can see the different styles it shows to people. Climbing up Wangyuan Fortress Mountain can see two sides of the scenery, one side is dominated by mountains, you can see the racecourse, from May to December every year is the horse racing season here, such as Saturday afternoon on Fortress Mountain, you can also see the horse racing. The other side is dominated by the seascape, mainly the view of the port. On this side, you can see the fort and the telescope, and through the telescope, you can see the distant scenery at a closer distance. There are some small shops in the scenic spot of Fortress Mountain, which are not allowed to take pictures, and the things sold are relatively expensive. It is not recommended to buy things there.Port Louis · 17.1 km from Curepipe

Deer Cave Crater is a famous attraction in Mauritius. The view from afar is very shocking, and I sigh at the power of nature. It is really simple and magical. It is said that this is a dead volcano, but it is magnificent and majestic! Very beautiful!

The volcanic terrain of Mauritius has created a natural landscape with a low mountain but strange shapes. The seven-colored soil in Chamarel was discovered by a Frenchman who was planting sugarcane fields here. Among the sugarcane fields here, only this piece of land is barren. After geologists went there to develop and study, this magical and magnificent seven-colored soil was revealed to the world.

Port Louis in Mauritius is the largest port in the country. There is a small commodity market here, and some light luxury brands (only in local currency) can be refunded at the airport after a certain amount of purchase. It is definitely not comparable to Shanghai, but it is a very prosperous place in the country.

Black River Gorges National Park is a very important national park in Mauritius. I came here during the rainy season. Although we couldn’t see far away, it had a different kind of hazy beauty. Because of the rain, there were fewer tourists and the entire national park was our world.

Tamarin does not offer the clearest sea water but is one of the dolphins favorite morning spots. Book a kayaking tour from one of the local companies to bring you dolphin watching or explore Rivière Tamarin. An excellent way to see things from a different angle and travel more responsibly.

There are many water activities, including sailing, jet skiing, banana boats, surfing, and other recreational projects. You can also play beach volleyball with friends. It is a famous diving resort. There are various corals, tropical fish, shellfish, sea lilies, etc. along the coast, and the underwater landscape is extremely beautiful.
