Jian Dong Fang · Ji Di Feast is located at No. 162 Fuchengmen Inner Street in Beijing, within the He Fang Yuan Restaurant. This elegant and historic venue is a classical Chinese courtyard-style four-section siheyuan (quadrangle). Originally the residence of Tan Zongjun, the second-place scholar in the imperial examination during the 13th year of Tongzhi reign in the late Qing Dynasty and founder of Tan Family Cuisine, it served as the birthplace of this renowned culinary tradition. After meticulous restoration, it has been transformed into a comprehensive cultural venue and has been in operation for over twenty years.
Here, the charm of classical Chinese architecture blends seamlessly with modern multifunctional spaces, offering visitors an immersive historical and cultural experience. The courtyard features intricately carved beams, painted rafters, and elegant corridors with pavilions. Jian Dongfang·Jidi Banquet primarily features "Bangyan Jidi Official Mansion Cuisine" as its main culinary style. Adhering to the gastronomic philosophy of Tan Zongjun, a Qing Dynasty Hanlin academician and former owner of Hefangyuan a century ago, it skillfully blends the strengths of Cantonese and Northern Chinese cuisines. The restaurant extensively uses dried seafood, paying particular attention to the rehydration process to preserve the original freshness of the ingredients.
