Introduction to the 32nd Zigong International Dinosaur Lantern Festival
The 32nd Zigong International Dinosaur Lantern Festival will commence in late January 2026 at Zigong China Lantern World. With the theme "Lanterns Painting China, Building Dreams for the Future," it will feature ten distinctive themed zones and over a hundred lantern installations, presenting a spectacular fusion of intangible cultural heritage, technology, and creative lighting artistry.
The iconic lantern installations at this year's festival showcase remarkable visual impact: the 35-meter-high "Knotted Splendor Gate" achieves visual harmony from both front and back views; the 210-meter-long "Magnificent China" extracts the imagery of Kunpeng (mythical creatures), embodying national pride; the 22-meter-high Nian Beast lantern features an AI interactive system that allows fun engagement with visitors.
The lantern festival embodies eco-friendly concepts by skillfully incorporating local elements like blue-and-white porcelain, straw, chili peppers, and recycled materials into its lantern displays. The "Visionary Future" section draws inspiration from nearly 6,000 children's paintings worldwide, transforming youthful creativity into colorful lanterns. Meanwhile, AI interaction and light-sensing technologies are integrated throughout the venue. The 300-meter-long "Salt Street Lantern Market" transforms into a Trip Moments street, featuring immersive performances and NPC interactions for a fully engaging lantern-viewing experience.
