▲ A traditional fireworks competition in Tsuchiura city, Ibaraki prefecture that has continued since 1925 (Taisho 14). This is one of Japan's premier competitions where about 60 pyrotechnic companies from across the country compete. The event consists of three categories: rapid-fire consecutive star mines, 10-inch shell launches judged on color development and expansion techniques, and creative fireworks showcasing shaped designs and new technologies. From among the winners of each category, the most outstanding pyrotechnic company that contributes to technical advancement and captivates audiences receives the Prime Minister's Award. This major event also reveals this year's fireworks trends. Photo provided by: Tsuchiura national fireworks competition executive committee
