The Puffinbilly steam train slowly travels through the picturesque Dentonnon Mountains. We sit at the window and out of the car, admiring the forest, grassland, pastures and fairytale homes. The vehicles and passers-by encountered along the way waved their hands to greet us, especially kind and interesting. The terminal has a small lake, full of autumn colors, walking on the plank road by the lake, very leisurely and comfortable.

Puff puff! Puffing Billy Train Ride! 🚂#melbournetrip We rode this train as part of a tour and was on the train for 30 minutes. We started at Belgrave Station and ended at Menzies Creek. If you have kids this will be really fun and you can sit on the sides and dangle your feet off the side of the train. Adults and older kids are allowed to sit on the sills, so you can have your feet dangling out as the train rides thru the forest, which is really what the ride is all about, a must do! It takes you through some beautiful scenery to explore. It was a wonderful experience on this old heritage train.Zaclin2912

Awesome steam engine train experienceAwesome steam train experience for the kids as they can get to put their legs out and enjoy the breeze as the train is quite slow moving. its quite safe for the kids but adult supervision is encourgaed. Easy to book the tickets online and checking in is a breeze too. Along the way we saw alot of natural sceneries and its a nice ride to lakeside station. all in, its a worthwhile experience.Wanderer T17
Fun place for kids to ride the steam trainWe were here with our kids and they love the experience of riding on a steam train. Please take into account that a return trip (from Belgrave to Lakeside) will take around 3 hour. So you can spend the whole day here. If the weather allows, you can try to explore Lakeside or have a picnic over there. Bring along an umbrella as weather can be unpredictable. Please cater ample time to find car park if you drive here. When we were here, it took us a while to get to the car park near the train station as most of nearby car park lots are taken up. We barely reach 1 minute before the train departs but the staff was kind enough to let us board the train. Very friendly and helpful staff!winter1673

Puff Puff#2023travelwish This train is called the Puffing Billy situated near Belgrave station. It takes approximately 1 hour train ride from Southern Cross station in Melbourne. The experience was amazing! You get to sit on a railing and get to dangle your legs outside~ The view is also scenic, especially when the sky is blue. Along the way, there’ll be locals waving to us. They are so cute! I love it! I wish that I can get to take more scenic trains around the world~Japventure27

It's a unique experience you need to try at least once! 🤭 (ps. its usually for kids but hey no judgement! we're all tourist anyways!) ▪️Puffing Billy Railway▪️ It's Australia preserved steam railway that was built in 1900s that served the locals to livestocks. Now its converted into a tourist attraction for people to experience the history. It's such a scenic route & it's honestly so mesmerising 🥹😍 Things to take note! 📝📣 01 / If you're driving there, the carpark for puffing billy is really small so I would recommend parking at the woolworths carpark that's about a 10mins walk to puffing billy. 02 / Get there at least an hour to 30mins earlier as you'll need to line up at the counter to get your physical ticket. 03 / Layer up! 🥶❄️ Depending on which month you're visiting it's always good to bring a jacket to layer up & keep yourself warm..... It's quite fun to go on as it's still steam powered and open air, meaning you can dangle your feet by the side of the train, while it moves! The train stops at different stations along the way and just make a note of when the return train is. Also bring a sweater as it can get cold in the mountains with the wind blowing against you. 🚂🚂🚂🚂 World’s Oldest surviving Steam Loco#celebratewithtrip It was very good experience to ride on World’s oldest surviving Steam Locomotive - Puffing Billy in Melbourne, Australia! We booked our tickets online and easy to redeem at their counter. The journey we had was Belgrave to Lakeside. It is advisable to reach there 60 minutes before departure, so you will have plenty of time to look for parking and to queue for redemption physical tickets. Alternatively, it is accessible via train from Southern Cross Station, Melbourne, instead of driving. Sit back and enjoy the authentic heritage steam train experience. It take about an hour to reach Lakeside Station, stop few stations along the way. You could see fairytale scene, those we thought that we only could see in movies. Once you reached Lakeside Station, there is a restaurant for you to have lunch. After lunch, you can take a walk at Emerald Lake Park, it was a good weather during Spring, so windy and sunny! Puffing Billy Train Ride ExperienceThis is one of my recommendations for people travelling to Melbourne! Experience riding on a old, retro train while taking in such beautiful sights. Puffing Billy Railway is a 2 feet 6 in narrow gauge heritage railway in the southern foothills of Dandenong Ranges in Melbourne. The entire train ride experience is estimated about 45 minutes, and I would recommend coming during Spring / Autumn weather where there’s sun, but also windy. You can drive to Puffing Billy from Melbourne, which will take you about 1 hour. You can also take public transport which will take up to 1 hour 20 minutes. Choo...Choo...All aboard! A nice way to see the "country side" of Melbourne. The views are truly breath-taking! We enjoyed the sound of the real steam engine. The whole journey is just magical! So many great photo opportunity. My little boy also wants to hop in Thomas, but our schedule never allows it. The train was an interesting experience as we could sit with our legs hanging outside the train. However, the whole time was 45 mins and it would get quite boring after 15 mins. The terminal was a lake station up on the mountain and there was only one restaurant
