Pass validity

Activation date: refers to the first use date selected when linking the pass to the app.

Before the pass is bound to the app and activated:

This pass must be activated within 11 months from the date of issuance (purchase) and will expire thereafter, unless otherwise specified for promotional products.

For example, if a pass is purchased on January 1, its expiration date is calculated from January 1 and remains valid for 11 months before activation. It can be activated on any day within those 11 months.

2. Link the pass to the app for activation. After activation:

Continuous type

The pass validity period starts from the first travel date selected when binding the pass to the app, and must be used consecutively for N days.

For example, if you purchase a 15-day consecutive Option on Jan 1 and select Feb 1 as the start date when binding the app, the expiration date will be calculated from Feb 1 (the selected activation date) and end on Feb 15.

Flexible

Valid for N days within X months from the first travel date selected when linking the pass to the app, based on the pass's expiration date and number of days.

For example, if you purchase the flexible Option for 4 days within 1 month and select February 1 as the start date when binding the app, the expiration date will be within 1 month from February 1, allowing you to choose any 4 days during this period.

Can multiple passes be bound to one device?

You can add multiple passes to your device as needed. After activating a pass during your trip, you can also transfer it to another device (only once). If you're traveling as a group with multiple passes stored on one device, all members must travel together for all journeys.

If multiple people are traveling together, one mobile phone can activate multiple tickets simultaneously. If you have multiple passes on your phone, please note the following:

(1) Each pass requires a separate itinerary in the app

(2) If you have already created an itinerary, you can copy the existing one and link the copy to another pass. Please name each itinerary differently to manage all your trips effectively.

(3) When checking tickets, each member using the pass must present their ticket. Please select another pass in "My Pass" and tap "Show ticket".

(4) The ticket inspector will scan the QR code to verify that the train you're boarding matches the one on your ticket. They will also check your personal information and may request to see your passport or ID.

Traveling with children?

Child passes need to be activated just like regular passes and can be placed on a separate device. Child passes should always have their own travel and ticket information for inspection on the train.

Children under 4 years old can travel for free without needing a separate pass.

Seat reservation

  • You can reserve seats in advance without activating the pass.

1. Please check if seat reservation is required for this route:

"Seat reservations required" means seat booking is needed

"Not in Pass network" means it is not included in the pass.

Eligibility
Adult: Age 28 to 59
Child: Age 4 to 11
Senior: Age 60+
Youth: Age 12 to 27
1. Children aged 4–11 can travel for free when booked with an Adult Ticket holder. Each adult can bring up to 2 free children, and they must be booked together with the pass. Starting from the 3rd child, a youth pass must be purchased separately. 2. Infants aged 3 and below can travel with an adult without a ticket. If a seat is required, please purchase a child pass for the infant. 3. The child pass must match the accompanying adult pass (same pass type, class, travel days, and expiration date). The child and adult must also share the same country of residence. If their actual countries of residence differ, the child pass should reflect the adult's country of residence. 4. Passengers holding a Senior or youth pass cannot bring children for free. For details on purchasing non-free child tickets, please contact customer support.
How to use
1. Once your pass is issued, you'll receive a confirmation email from Trip.com containing your booking name and pass number (Ticket number, usually a 6-digit alphanumeric combination). Each name corresponds to one Ticket number.

2. Please activate your pass in the Rail Planner App before your first train ride and select the date of your first trip. Note that you can only board trains after activation.

3. Plan your itinerary in advance and save it (see details on the details page). When boarding, show the QR code in the Rail Planner App to the train staff for inspection. For routes requiring seat reservations, also present your reservation details.

Each travel day will have a separate ticket with a QR code. The ticket inspector will scan the QR code to verify if your train journey is included in your ticket. They will also check your seat reservation and personal details, and may ask to see your passport. With a first-class ticket, you can travel in second-class carriages without refunding the price difference.

5. Please carry your passport with you, as the conductor may check it.

6. Most train stations in Europe do not require security checks or ticket inspections. We recommend arriving at the station 30 minutes before your departure time to confirm your train schedule. Platform information for European trains is typically displayed on station screens 10 minutes prior to departure, so please stay updated via the mobile app and station announcements.

7. If the train is delayed or canceled due to force majeure, check the app immediately for alternative train numbers to the same destination, or seek assistance from station staff.

We recommend downloading the Route Train Company app and using it together with Google for convenient real-time train information updates.

Important note:

1. Please check if seat reservations are required for your route. If the route shows "Seat reservations required" when checking in the app, it means you need to reserve seats separately for this route. If seat reservations are required, in addition to saving your itinerary in the app, you must also reserve seats according to the specific route and method. Check the details page for reservation methods.

2. For other info about the expiration date, how to activate and cancel the Eurail Pass, how to check if seat reservation is required, how to reserve seats, and detailed instructions on how to use it, please refer to the product details page.

3. Huawei phone users can find the app download method on the details page.

4. In case of fines, please collect all documents, including various tickets, to seek assistance from Eurail staff.
