Nara Park is located on the east side of Nara City, at the foot of Mount Kasuga. The park has beautiful scenery all year round, with hundreds of wild sika deer living on the open meadows. The park is also surrounded by places of interest such as Todaiji Temple and Kasuga Taisha Shrine. Todaiji Temple is located on the north side of Nara Park, also known as Daikegonji Temple. It was founded in 728 by Emperor Shomu who believed in Buddhism. It is the headquarters of Japan's Kegon Sect and is listed as a World Cultural Heritage. The Great Buddha Hall of Todai-ji Temple is the largest ancient wooden building in the world. Inside the hall is a 16-meter-high statue of the Lucena Buddha, which is the largest bronze Buddha statue in the world. As a landmark attraction in Nara, it is always crowded with tour groups and students from all over Japan. The entire Todaiji Temple covers a large area. In addition to the Great Buddha Hall, there are many scenic spots that should not be missed, including the South Gate, February Hall, March Hall, Shosoin Temple, etc. Nara Town refers to a living area in the old town of Nara with the former site of Genkoji Temple. The narrow streets are lined with traditional old-style residences, and there are many small shops, cafes, galleries, etc. hidden among them. This place is rich in ancient style, quiet and peaceful. You might as well slow down and experience the feeling of stepping back in time.
