7:30-8:10 Take a ride to the panda base
The drive takes about 30-40 minutes, and the guide will give a brief introduction in English about Chengdu's overview and interesting panda facts.
08:10-11:00 Visit Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding
Avoid the crowds and visit during the morning when pandas are most active. Explore the panda villas, panda maternity ward, and red panda activity area. Watch these adorable national treasures munch on bamboo, climb trees, and play. An English-speaking guide will share insights into panda behavior and conservation stories throughout the tour.
Take a ride to Leshan between 11:00 AM and 1:30 PM
The drive from Chengdu to Leshan takes approx. 2.5 hours. You can take a short nap or listen to the guide share more stories about Chengdu.
1:30 PM–2:30 PM | Lunch time
Enjoy authentic Sichuan cuisine at a local Chinese restaurant in Leshan. The restaurant will adjust dishes according to your dietary restrictions.
14:30-17:00 visit the Leshan Giant Buddha (mountain tour)
Upon arrival, enter the Leshan Giant Buddha attraction with an English-speaking guide.
Walk along the path through Lingyun Temple to the Nine-Bend Plank Road on the right side of the Buddha. Descend from the Buddha's head all the way to its feet, and look up close at this 71 m tall Tang Dynasty Maitreya Buddha, experiencing the awe of "the mountain is a Buddha, the Buddha is a mountain." Afterwards, you can visit Haishi Cave and the Forest of Steles. The guide will explain details about the Buddha's construction history. You'll also have ample time to take photos.
17:00-19:30 Return to Chengdu and arrive at the hotel
Gather and board the vehicle for return to Chengdu. The approx. 2.5-hour journey will take you back to your original departure hotel in downtown Chengdu at approx. 19:30, concluding a fulfilling private tour day.
