As early as 1892, the Brienz Rothorn Railway trains in the Bernese Highlands began steaming and rumbling their way up to Brienz Rothorn.
Take the steam train to Brienz Rothorn: With the stunning views of Lake Brienz and the steep ridges, not only railway enthusiasts will fall in love at first sight.
The vintage steam train conquers an elevation of 1,680m, chugging along with billowing steam at Brienz Rothorn.
About an hour from Brienz, the journey takes you through meadows and forests, past steep cliffs along the mountain ridges.
From the summit of Brienz Rothorn, you can enjoy panoramic views of the Swiss Central Alps and the Bernese Alps, with peaks reaching up to 4,000 meters in elevation.
