Zhangjiajie "Tianmen Fox Fairy" VIP Ticket + Round-Trip Transfer Between Zhangjiajie City and the Performance Venue
"Tianmen Fox Fairy: The New Liu Hai Chopping Firewood" is a large-scale outdoor musical based on the Hunan folk legend "Liu Hai Chopping Firewood." Directed by Mei Shuaiyuan, the pioneer of China's real-scene performances, and featuring internationally renowned composer Tan Dun as the music director, the show premiered on September 17, 2009. Set against the natural backdrop of Zhangjiajie's Tianmen Mountain Gorge, the production invested 120 million yuan to create a fiberglass stage spanning over 10,000 square meters. With a cast of more than 500 performers, it delivers a breathtaking audio-visual spectacle.
Time: Every night from 8:20 PM to 9:30 PM, March through December (Rain or shine; raincoats provided in case of rain)
Performance Highlights:
Immersive fantasy special effects:
Using the peaks and valleys of Tianmen Mountain as a natural stage, the show incorporates machinery, magic, and lighting effects to create fantastical scenes such as a sky filled with flying snow, a 60-meter-high flying bridge, and a movable artificial moon.

This tells the love story between the woodcutter Liu Hai and a thousand-year-old fox spirit, transcending the boundaries of humans and demons. The entire play is divided into five acts: "The Fox King's Bride Selection," "Encounter in the Deep Mountains," "Moonlit Longing," "Storm of Betrayal," and "A Millennium's Wait," featuring a gripping and deeply moving plot.
Rich in ethnic elements:
Incorporating traditional art forms such as Tujia folk songs and dances from Western Hunan, as well as Sangzhi folk songs and flower lantern opera, it showcases the profound regional cultural heritage.
