Uncover the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Ajanta and Ellora on this 2-day guided tour from Mumbai. Stay overnight in Aurangabad and explore stunning Mughal architecture at Bibi Ka Maqbara, ancient frescoes at Ajanta, and the rock-cut marvels of Ellora, including the magnificent Kailasa Temple. Day 1: Mumbai – Aurangabad (330 km / 7 hrs)
Your driver will pick you up from your hotel in Mumbai in the morning for a scenic 7-hour drive to Aurangabad. On arrival, check in at your hotel and relax. Later, head out for a short city tour covering Bibi Ka Maqbara, often called the “Taj of the Deccan,” Salim Ali Lake, Himayat Bagh, and Soneri Mahal. After sightseeing, return to your hotel for an overnight stay in Aurangabad.
Day 2: Aurangabad – Ajanta & Ellora Caves – Mumbai
After breakfast, depart early for Ajanta Caves, located 100 km away. Spend time exploring its 30 rock-cut caves adorned with Buddhist frescoes, sculptures, and monasteries. After lunch, continue to Ellora Caves, home to Hindu, Jain, and Buddhist monuments. The highlight is the Kailasa Temple, a stunning monolithic structure carved top-down from solid rock. After exploring Ellora, drive back to Mumbai, where you'll be dropped off at your hotel or residence.
Note: Ajanta Caves are closed on Mondays and Ellora Caves on Tuesdays.
