What an extraordinary experience! The intermittent rain (very slight) added to the romantic atmosphere of my visit to this greatest of Palace constellations in the world - the largest imperial palace in the world, and a wonder to behold. It was like time travel - the palace buildings, gardens, ceiling motifs…The scent of those wooden buildings! The statues, the art, the wealth, the poetic names (The Palace of Gathered Elegance, The Palace of Compassion and Tranquility), the artefacts, the age, the grandeur, the sheer scale. I found the 9-Dragon Screen (in the Treasure Gallery, definitely worth a visit) and could have easily spent days exploring this magical world. I reluctantly left via the Gate of Divine Prowess, collected my coloured pencils (ADVICE - don’t take sketching materials inside this complex, they will be regarded as Prohibited/Restricted items and you will have to leave them at Storage) and returned to my hotel.
This was a magnificent day of drinking in the splendour of Beijing’s Forbidden City/Palace Museum, filled with lustrous sights and friendly encounters. Highly recommend! Thank you, Lily’s Tours Beijing, for the exemplary ticketing and preparation advice!★

Visited Tianamen Square, learnt about the political history of Chkna. The Forbidden City is a massive complex of stunning architecture. Mubus our tour guide was super helpful and shared so much knowledge about China's history and the emperors. It was insightful. It is best to book your tickets at least 2 days in advance. It can get very busy with lots of tour groups in site. Be prepared to walk alot. Worth the visit to learn about part if China's history.★

Interesting, it was the place where we were searched the most (much more than at the airports). We went around 2 pm and there were no queues. When they raise and lower the flag, it's a hive of activity. The square is very impressive.★
