We were picked up on time. There were many competitors offering pick-up services, so I was a little worried about whether we would be able to find the right pick-up company, but there were no problems. We stopped at a drive-in facility for a toilet break, 110km from the airport to the port. The speedboat cuts through the waves quite violently, so it's better to get a seat at the back inside.

The ferry departs on time. If you're traveling very fast, be aware of this and bring your motion sickness pills. It's cold on the ferry, so bring some warm clothing. The air conditioning is very strong.

Booking is convenient and cheaper than buying at the ticket office. The ferry doesn't rock, and they show movies on TV. Boarding is via small boats. In Langkawi, I didn't like having to find my luggage myself and pull it out of the pile.

The Pak Bara pier itself is very simple. The Ploysiam check-in desk is easy to find. We got tickets with our voucher. Boarding the boat was quick, but there were a lot of people, making it very crowded. Luckily, we made it in an hour, and we were lucky with the weather! There were no waves, so everything went well.


