Excellent! An experience everyone should have at least once. Physically demanding, requiring those with a fear of heights to overcome their fear, fantastic views... And you need the necessary luck with the weather, because the Tongariro was closed for the following days due to strong winds.

It’s a pretty demanding but very rewarding hike. The volcanoes are amazing. I’d like to see the dept of conservation allow a “lite” hike to Soda Springs and back for younger families and older folks so they don’t miss out on the experience.
