Shangrao Lingshan Mountain is a national scenic area and a AAAA-rated tourist attraction. Known as the "Sleeping Beauty" for its undulating mountain range resembling a reclining Jiangnan maiden, it's a mountainous resort integrating vacation wellness, sports leisure, sightseeing experiences, and religious pilgrimage. The area features rare circular granite peak forest formations, distinctive high-altitude spiritual stone terraces, unique rock formations, and Jiangnan's tallest granite waterfall. Since ancient times, Lingshan has been a sacred site for Taoism, Buddhism, and Confucianism, ranking as China's 33rd Taoist blessed land. The scenic zone boasts distinctive peaks, pristine waters, and secluded valleys, with 36 waterfalls, 72 peaks, 108 caves, and over 400 scenic views. Historically housing 99 temples and palaces, the 1800-year-old Shiren Hall and Shicheng Temple remain particularly well-preserved. Celebrated as "China's premier dragon ridge and blissful spiritual sanctuary," the mountain offers harmonious lake-mountain vistas. Mount Lingshan boasts a profound cultural heritage, with over 300 literary masterpieces left by distinguished Shangrao natives and historical figures who lived or sought refuge here, including Wang Anshi, Wang Zhenbai, Han Yuanji, Xin Qiji, Xu Yuanjie, Xia Yan, and Jiang Shiquan. The Southern Song Dynasty poet Xin Qiji praised Mount Lingshan as "a majestic landscape where peaks gallop westward like ten thousand horses circling back, while other mountains yearn eastward," describing it as "grand, profound, elegant, and vigorous—like reading the works of Grand Historian Sima Qian." Ming Dynasty scholar Xia Yan extolled that "the scenic beauty of Mount Lingshan surpasses even the famed Jiuhua and Wulao Mountains," while contemporary poet Feng Xuefeng hailed it as "a magical, indomitable, and enchanting mountain."Shangrao · 27.6 km from Hengfeng

Ge's Fairy Village

Ge's fairy village is located in Yanshan County, Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province. It was invested and constructed by Xinbang Group in June 2016, with a total investment exceeding 1.569 billion yuan. Backed by the thousand-year-old Taoist mountain Ge's Fairy Mountain, it aims to become "a new landmark of Jiangxi tourism." The project is divided into two phases, with a planned construction area of approx. 300,000 square meters. The core attraction area covers 650 mu, including three main sections: the distribution center area, Ge's Fairy Village resort, and the Tianjing Terrace attraction. Future development will continue to expand outward along the valley. Ge's fairy village is developed around the Ge's fairy mountain attraction, inspired by the cultivation stories of immortal Ge Xuan on the mountain. It integrates the cultural essence of Taoism with classical landscape painting aesthetics, recreating the mountain village scene where Ge Xuan lived and practiced during the late Han dynasty. Using water, bamboo, and village as creative elements, it aims to create a natural sanctuary and fairy village combining eco-tourism, leisure vacations, business conferences, and Taoist cultural experiences. Introduction to attractions in Ge's fairy village Yuánfāng - Heaven and earth hidden in the mountains and forests The name "Elements" is derived from the Taoist concept of "the sky is round and the earth is square." The bronze compass within Elements, meticulously crafted by renowned artists, embodies the Taoist understanding and profound mastery of the universe's principles. The overall design follows the concept of a "vanishing building," featuring a facade of glass mirrors and bamboo. From a distance, the glass mirrors reflect the natural scenery of the mountains, making the structure appear hidden within the forest. Without careful observation, one might easily overlook the building and the hidden paradise behind it. Zhongmiao pavilion - profound and mysterious, both real and illusory Zhongmiao pavilion is the highest point of the attraction, featuring an ancient architectural structure. The main building stands 26 m tall with a three-story, four-pillar pure wood design. Pavilions are typically used for storing books or enshrining deities, which adds more cultural significance to this structure. In the evening, the solemn and magnificent Zhongmiao Pavilion show takes place here, where the combination of modern technological lighting and ancient architecture creates a dreamlike and visually stunning experience. Culture has a long history The ancestral hall square mainly consists of the jiao altar at the center and the Ge Weng ancestral hall. The jiao altar is a place for capping, wedding, and sacrificial ceremonies. It served as the venue for ancient capping rites, wedding ceremonies, and rituals praying to deities. Traditional folk cultural performances are staged in the central area of the ancestral hall square. Dust-washing gate·Emerald pool - Wash away the mundane Under the moonlight, seekers perform the traditional Taoist greeting, embracing the path of Taoism. The "gate of purification," crafted with mist curtain installations, presents a mesmerizing interplay of light and shadow amidst ethereal fog, cleansing worldly dust from those who journey from afar. Water curtain film - magnificent and breathtaking The water stage at Zhongmiao Pavilion presents a grand live-action water screen movie every evening, where the fusion of water screens and light creates a dazzling visual feast. Performers dance to the rhythm of alternately intense and soothing music, bringing to life a series of dramatic legendary tales from a flourishing era. China town artifact culture museum - A long history of town artifact culture The China town artifact culture museum is located at the entrance of Lingbao Fairy Street, featuring horse-head walls that showcase the distinctive Huizhou architectural style. Inside, visitors can explore China's ancient town artifact culture through exhibition areas, retail zones, and workshop sections, gaining a deeper understanding of this cultural heritage while admiring historical artifacts.Yanshan · 37.1 km from Hengfeng

Mount Huangshan Scenic Area

Mount Huangshan Scenic Area is located in Tangkou Town, Huangshan District, Huangshan City. Since ancient times, Mount Huangshan has been one of China's most renowned mountains. Its peculiar pines, strange rocks, sea of clouds, and hot springs are known as the "Four Wonders" of Mount Huangshan. In addition to these, rime, snowscapes, and sunrises are also views that visitors will not miss. There is an ancient saying: "Having visited the Five Great Mountains, one need not look at any other mountains; having visited Mount Huangshan, one need not look at the Five Great Mountains." The attraction is divided into the south gate, west gate, and north gate. The vast majority of visitors enter and exit through the south gate, which has two entrances and exits—front mountain and back mountain—both close to Tangkou Town at the foot of the mountain. The town has also become a transfer hub for visiting Huangshan, and many visitors arrive here in advance to stay overnight. From Tangkou Town to the attraction entrance, you need to take the Huangshan New National Line shuttle bus, which stops at the front mountain gate (Ciguang Pavilion), the back mountain gate (Yungu Temple), and the Huangshan-Hot Spring attraction. Visiting the attraction mainly involves two routes up the mountain, the front mountain and the back mountain, both leading to one of the main peaks, Bright Summit. On the other side of Bright Summit, there is also a loop route — the West Sea Grand Canyon. Front mountain The front mountain refers to the hiking route starting from Ciguang Pavilion to Yuping Tower at the summit (accessible directly by the Yuping Cable Car), as well as the Mount Huangshan Scenic Area - Lotus Peak and Tiandu Peak areas at the summit. The scenery of the front mountain is grand and majestic, making it very suitable for enjoying panoramic views from the cable car. Both the highest peak, Mount Huangshan Scenic Area - Lotus Peak, and the other main peak, Tiandu Peak, are located here (the two peaks open alternately). There are also classic attractions such as the Guest-Greeting Pine, Jiulong Peak - Carp Back, Hundred-Step Ladder, One-Line Sky, and Tianhai. Back mountain The back mountain refers to the hiking route from Yungu Temple to Bai'e Ridge (accessible directly by the Mount Huangshan Yungu Cableway), as well as the mountaintop areas behind Bai'e Ridge such as Shixin Peak, Mount Huangshan Scenic Area - Shizi Peak, and West Sea Grand Canyon - Paiyun Pavilion. The scenery of the back mountain consists mostly of exquisite mountain views, suitable for enjoying on foot along the way. Flying Stone and Monkey Watching the Sea are both located here. West sea grand canyon West sea grand canyon officially opened in 2000. The canyon is deep and the scenery is very magnificent, and it is known as the true gathering place of Huangshan's essential scenery. West sea grand canyon can be entered from West Sea Grand Canyon - Paiyun Pavilion in the summit area of the back mountain, and after looping around inside the canyon, you return to the main peak area of Tianhai. It takes about 2 hours to walk down from West Sea Grand Canyon - Paiyun Pavilion to the bottom of the canyon, and then you can take a cable car to Tianhai. Route recommendations The standard way to visit Huangshan is a two-day tour, with routes divided into ascending via the front mountain and descending via the back mountain (front mountain - West Sea Grand Canyon - back mountain) or ascending via the back mountain and descending via the front mountain (back mountain - West Sea Grand Canyon - front mountain). Ascending via the front mountain and descending via the back mountain is suitable for taking the cable car up and walking down, which is both relaxing and allows you to enjoy the exquisite scenery of the latter half. However, since the essential route of the West Sea Grand Canyon runs from West Sea Grand Canyon - Paiyun Pavilion to Tianhai, you will have to backtrack along a section of the trail. It is possible to visit Huangshan in just one day, but the itinerary will be tight. It is recommended to ascend via the rear mountain and descend via the front mountain, taking the cable car both ways, and to either skip climbing the main peaks of the front mountain (Mount Huangshan Scenic Area - Lotus Peak / Tiandu Peak) or skip the West Sea Grand Canyon. Stay selection There are several accommodation options at the summit, mainly concentrated in areas such as Guangming Peak Tianhai, West Sea Grand Canyon-Paiyun Pavilion, Bai'e Ridge, and North Sea. Guangming Peak Tianhai is a great spot for watching the sunrise, and it is also suitable for storing luggage while exploring the West Sea Grand Canyon. Bai'e Ridge is the upper station of the Huangshan Yungu Cableway on the rear mountain; if you typically enter the attraction from the rear mountain in the afternoon, staying here is quite convenient.China · Huangshan City

Huangling Ancient Village is a typical mountain village, Souvenir by thousands of ancient trees and tens of thousands of acres of terraced fields, creating a idyllic mountain life like a paradise. It has a beautiful natural environment and rich history and culture. It is a famous historical and cultural village in ancient Huizhou. The ancient village of Huangling hangs on the cliff, and the ground is not flat for three feet. For hundreds of years, the villagers have been accustomed to "communicating" with the rugged terrain with a peaceful mentality, painting a picture of "people drying their crops in the sun in autumn". In March, rapeflowers are in full bloom on tens of thousands of acres of terraced fields in Huangling, dotted with pink peach blossoms and snow-white pear blossoms, forming a beautiful ink painting. Here, you can become one with nature and have close contact with the sea of flowers. At the end of March, the second phase of Huangrapeling Gaoling Terraced Fields Flower Sea came online. Due to the large altitude difference, low temperature, and late-maturing rapeseed varieties, the flowering period is relatively late, and the second phase of the flower sea can last until mid-April. Come to Huangling in summer and start a wonderful summer night trip. Take a look at the night view of the ancient village, feel the sunset glow of Huangling, the lights of thousands of houses, walk on the country road with the dancing and circling 100-meter-long dragon, stroll in the quaint streets with a lantern, feel the romance of the magic forest, watch a retro old movie at the entrance of the village, and visit the cool market in the countryside. As soon as the beginning of autumn arrives, the ancient village of Huangling becomes a drying field. Come to the people who dry autumn leaves to admire the red maple leaves, enjoy the autumn leaves drying on the roof, the maple forest is dyed red, experience the folk customs, hand-cranked windmills, pumpkin traps, etc., and feel the nostalgic charm of the people who dry autumn leaves. In winter, every household in Huangling is busy drying and processing traditional local specialties for New Year's goods. The roofs are full of preserved meat customs, "drying" folk customs and "celebrating" the harvest, which means a bumper harvest in the New Year. With the arrival of the Winter Solstice, the Huangling Folk Culture Festival begins and lasts until the Lantern Festival next year. Here, you can listen to operas, visit the market, taste food, and taste the folk customs of the New Year; bask in the warm sun, cook tea around the stove, enjoy the elegant winter things, invite family and friends to take a health-preserving warm soup, and enjoy a winter-limited snow scene. In Huangling, you can enjoy the beautiful rural scenery and experience the modern urban life. You can see the exquisite and simple Huizhou century-old houses as well as the fashion and elegance of star-rated hotels. In Huangling, tourists can not only taste authentic folk snacks such as steamed cakes, Qingming fruit, gray juice fruit, etc., but also participate in the whole process of making folk snacks and handicrafts.China · Wuyuan

Guifeng Scenic Area is quite nice, but it needs more promotion. There weren't too many tourists during the National Day holiday. The scenic area offered a variety of interactive activities, which were very engaging and provided a great emotional experience. The scenery is beautiful, and climbing up and down the mountain is not difficult. A day trip there was very relaxing, and the boat ride back offered stunning views of the lake and mountains.

Lingshan Mountain in Shangrao truly offers a painless climb, with cable car and escalator access throughout, making it easy for even the elderly to reach the summit. If you choose to go in mid-May, the azaleas are in full bloom, the weather isn't too hot, and the summit is quite comfortable – a highly recommended destination.

The ancient street is built along the Xinjiang River, with bustling shops on one side and the leisurely Xinjiang River on the other. The ancient street is east-west, 6 meters wide and 5 miles long. It consists of Yibao Street, Erbao Street, Qipan Street, Sanbao Street on the east end and Banbian Street on the west end. There are more than 500 shops preserved on both sides from Yibao to Sanbao. Today, it still retains the marks of the prosperity of the old times and the quaint style. On the 500-meter-long Ming and Qing ancient street along the river, the buildings are endless and lined up, exuding an ancient and elegant temperament; Qing

Traveling to Jiangxi, I came to the Gexian Mountain Scenic Area in Shangrao. Gexian Mountain is located in Qianshan County, at the northern foot of Wuyi Mountain, and belongs to the branch of Wuyi Mountain. Gexian Mountain belongs to the Yanshan period granite landform, with the main peak at an altitude of 1,096 meters. It has a strong Taoist culture and is a famous Taoist mountain. There are Da Gexian Temple, Niangniang Temple, Ciji Temple, etc. in the scenic area. In the evening, there is a musical fountain stage play in the scenic area, which tells a story of Taoist culture.

Because the Gangshou Cableway is less crowded and reaches the highest point of Sanqingshan, it avoids long queues and steep climbs compared to the other two cableways. Therefore, we booked the Sanqingshan Lifeng Hotel, which is closest to the Gangshou Cableway, so we could take the earliest cableway up the mountain the next day. The hotel facilities were good; there was an elevator to the fourth floor, and our room was on the fifth floor. The owner helped us carry our luggage to the room. The room was fully equipped with toiletries, including disposable towels and bath towels. The bathroom had a basic wet and dry separation (it's strange that many guesthouses in Wuyuan don't have a full partition between the shower and toilet, only separating them, which causes water to splash onto the toilet). The hotel breakfast included delicious noodle soup. The owner was very welcoming and recommended sightseeing itineraries for Sanqingshan. He even drove us to the cable car station in the morning. The hotel also provided free hiking poles and had a restaurant, which was very convenient.

I think this place is pretty good. I'd recommend staying from around 11 am until evening. Take your time exploring. It seems like it's also very photogenic. I liked some of the old houses. However, it's a popular tourist spot, so it gets really crowded.
