Scottish Highlands

The Scottish Highlands encompass the majestic mountains and valleys of Great Britain. The region is sparsely populated, with vast stretches of wilderness maintaining a raw and desolate appearance. Ben Nevis, the highest peak in the British Isles, stands in the heart of the Highlands. Its summit is shrouded in mist year-round, and the weather is changeable, attracting many hikers to climb it. The Great Glen divides the Highlands into two, with the Grampian Mountains and the Northwest Highlands on either side, and the area is dotted with numerous lakes and valleys. Glen Coe is famous for its jagged peaks and wild, desolate moors, making it one of the iconic landscapes of the Highlands. Driving along the A82 road, you can see The Three Sisters rising abruptly. Loch Ness is hidden deep in the Great Glen, with the ruins of Urquhart Castle standing quietly on the shore. The Highlands also preserve Scottish Gaelic cultural traditions and whisky distilling techniques, and many distilleries along the route offer tastings of single malt whisky. Driving along wild roads, strolling along mountain trails, visiting ancient castles and lakes, or touring whisky distilleries are all popular local experiences.Fort Augustus · 63 km from Kyle

40 reviews
Kilt Rock is an iconic coastal landform view on the island. The rocks here are primarily composed of basalt, dolerite, and sandstone. Through long-term geological evolution, they have formed towering, straight, and clearly textured cliffs, with the color and arrangement of the rock layers giving the cliff face a unique striped effect. The vertically arranged rock columns and horizontally distributed rock layers on the cliff face intersect to create an appearance resembling the pleats of a traditional Scottish kilt. Facing the Sound of Raasay, the cliffs drop straight from the heights to the rugged coastline, showcasing distinct layering and a rugged geological form. Standing in the viewing area, you can observe the vertical texture of the cliff face up close, and also look out over the sound and the mountains of the Scottish mainland in the distance.Portree · 45.9 km from Kyle

285 reviews
The National Museum of Scotland was formed by the merger of the original Scottish Museum and the Royal Scottish Museum, and is considered one of the buildings of Scotland in the 20th century, adding a lively modern atmosphere to Edinburgh's Old Town. The architectural design of the museum echoes the unique history and natural environment of Scotland, especially the Round Tower in Edinburgh, forming an ingenious connection between history and modernity. The building is clad in Scottish golden sandstone, creating a weather-beaten ancient look. The triangular entrance hall is as high as seven floors, creating a sense of space full of tension, which is vividly likened to a "bird cage". The light is good, and the sun can almost fill every corner of the hall. Decorative pieces such as fountains and fish ponds add to the natural appeal.United Kingdom · Edinburgh

Standing on the edge of a cliff that plunges straight into the seabed like a knife, the early winter climate makes everything in the distance a little foggy. Unlike the clear sky with white clouds floating in the sky, it looks like it is covered with a veil.

When the train was about to reach the Glenfinnan Viaduct, everyone on the train started to move. We opened the small windows on the train as wide as possible and pressed the shutter like crazy. It turned out that everyone was doing the same thing.

Traveling to the UK, this stop is Glencoe in the Scottish Highlands. Glencoe is a canyon located south of Fort William in the Scottish West Highland Council District. From a lower watershed to the Etive Gorge, 308 meters above sea level, there is a steep glacial trough valley to the west, about 8 kilometers long and 800 meters wide, with mountains on both sides more than 900 meters high. In February 1692, a clan massacre involving betrayal of the local MacDonald family occurred here. Now the canyon is almost uninhabited.
