Sanbao International Ceramic Village

There is an old-fashioned farm house and ceramic workshop more than ten miles southeast of Jingdezhen, called Sanbao International Ceramics Village. The whole village seems to be an ordinary and very old farmhouse. Inside the door is a clay marker with many pieces of porcelain and pottery works embedded in it. There is a small stream introduced from the outside in the yard. The water is clear to the bottom. Some of the porcelain bowls and pieces were half buried in the mud, the ancient wooden farm tools and local daily necessities were quietly left aside, and the big red Spring Festival couplets were pasted on the log doors. The long gazebo made of logs, and the rice barrels of the farmhouse made of logs are chairs. It's casual, simple, unstructured, and wild. Here are the original life scenes and plots: the house was bought from the villagers, the courtyard wall was built by the villagers using the "dry base" process 20 years ago, and the furnishings in the house were also produced by the villagers more than 20 years ago. Living utensils, nearly 10 artisans here use primitive methods to produce ceramics and pottery tools. In addition to the living area, there are studios, pottery halls, traditional porcelain making tools, wood-burning kilns, folk artists, etc., Guanyin with broken arms, headless Bodhisattva, even a slag cake, a bowl bottom , a deformed dragon cylinder. This codified tradition has become fully modern. Sanbao Village is a ceramic workshop courtyard of an old-fashioned farmhouse. The earthen courtyard wall is built by "dry base", and a crystal clear stream runs through the courtyard. The courtyard is full of traces of years of hard work - porcelain bowls and pieces, many of which are half-covered in the mud.Jingdezhen · 31.9 km from Leping

Wuyishan National Park

8.6
4.6/5
13.4k reviews
Wuyishan National Park is located in the northern section of the Wuyishan mountain range in northwestern Fujian, stretching across the border area between Fujian and Jiangxi provinces. It is one of China's first established national parks, and Wuyishan itself was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for both culture and nature as early as 1999. The park was formed by integrating the former Wuyishan National Nature Reserve and Wuyishan Scenic Area: the Tongmu area in the north focuses on ecological conservation and scientific research, preserving a rare intact mid-subtropical forest ecosystem at this latitude. The main peak of the Wuyishan range, Mount Huanggang, is also located here, and this core area does not offer regular tourism activities. Sightseeing activities are concentrated in the scenic areas along both banks of the Nine-bend Stream, namely the four major sections: Tianyou Peak to Taoyuan Cave, Nine-bend Stream to Wuyi Palace, One-line Sky to Tiger Roaring Rock, and Dahongpao to Water Curtain Cave. The attractions in the scenic area are relatively scattered with considerable distance between them. A leisurely visit typically requires two to three days. If you only have one day, start by ascending Tianyou Peak for a panoramic view of the emerald waters and crimson mountains along the Nine-bend Stream, then take a bamboo raft downstream from Xingcun Wharf. Along the way, you'll pass landmarks like Jade Maiden Peak, Great King Peak, cliff inscriptions, and suspended boat coffins. The rafting journey ends at Wuyi Palace, making it an ideal classic route. Tea enthusiasts may prefer spending time on the leisurely Rock Bone Floral Trail between Dahongpao and Water Curtain Cave. This gentle path connects core Wuyi rock tea production areas like Liuxiangjian and Huiyuankeng, offering a uniquely fragrant experience. With two days, you can cover all four major sections. For more time, consider visiting the ancient tea merchants' residences in Xiamei Village, the starting point of the ancient Tea Horse Road, or exploring the ruins of the Minyue King's City near Chengcun Village—the latter also being part of Wuyishan's world heritage site. Bamboo rafting is very popular, so please make arrangements in advance during peak season. To get close to the ecological heart of the park, you can take the Wuyishan National Park No. 1 scenic route. Places like Moon Bay and Qinglong Waterfall are suitable for self-drive or private charter. As for food, street snacks like flat meat dumplings and Vietnamese noodles are common, while Langu smoked goose and local dishes cooked with alpine bamboo shoots and mushrooms are also worth trying.China · Wuyishan

The ancient city of Huizhou is located in Shexian County.LianjiangNorth Bank, originally built in the Qin Dynasty, became the seat of the ancient Huizhou Prefecture after the Tang Dynasty. Tang Xianzu's line, "My life's most cherished dream, yet I never dreamt of Huizhou," has captivated countless hearts. The city gates, archways, and the unique prefectural government offices still allow visitors to experience the ancient charm.Huizhou PrefectureThe legacy of the past. There are several roads leading into the ancient city, and it doesn't really matter which road you choose. The ancient city isn't very big; you can visit all the main attractions by walking around. It's near Renhe Tower in the north.Huiyuan GardenTicket offices are available at both the Nanqiao Tower and the Duojingyuan visitors Center outside the southern barbican. Among the several city gates of Huizhou Ancient City, the Nanqiao Tower is quite unique, with 13 pairs of pillars forming the gate frame, arranged in a row inside the gate opening to support the tower. It is said that this "row of pillars" is the authentic city gate style of the Northern Song Dynasty. The Xu Guo Stone Archway, located inside the East Watchtower (Yanghe Gate), is the essence of the entire ancient city, built in the twelfth year of the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty (1584 AD). The archway has eight pillars, with a cross-section shaped like the Chinese character "口" (kou), creating a three-dimensional structure. Both the four exterior and four interior sides can be viewed. Twelve stone lions guard the base of the pillars, and the upper part features exquisite stone carvings. Currently, this is the only ancient archway of its kind, highlighting the distinguished status of its owner, Xu Guo, a veteran of three reigns. Many attractions in the ancient city radiate from the Xu Guo Stone Archway. To the west, you can visit the Huizhou Prefectural Government Office, a modern reconstruction modeled after the Ming Dynasty government office; to the east, you can visit the memorial hall of Tao Xingzhi, a native of Shexian County; and to the north, you can visit...Huiyuan Garden, butHuiyuan GardenThe area is filled with antique-style buildings. Doushan Street, located in the northeast of the ancient city, brings together Hui-style ancient residences, archways, and ancient wells. Sanhe Ancient Town

Sanhe Ancient Town is situated at the southern tip of Feixi County in Hefei, where the Fengle River, Hangbu River, and Xiaonan River converge. The town derives its name from these three waterways, with the name "Sanhe" appearing as early as the Ming Dynasty and officially becoming Sanhe Town during the Qing Dynasty. In 1858, Taiping Rebellion generals Chen Yucheng and Li Xiucheng achieved a decisive victory over the Xiang Army here, historically known as the "Great Victory of Sanhe." The triumphal arch at the town entrance, Yingwang Mansion, and ancient city walls still bear witness to this turbulent period. The old bluestone-paved streets stretch along the river, lined with contiguous Huizhou-style residences featuring gray brick walls and soaring horse-head gables, blending water-town alleys with Huizhou-style markets seamlessly. Most tours begin at Sanxian Bridge in the town center. To its northwest stands the seven-story Guocui Tower, offering panoramic views of the town and displaying Huizhou artifacts like sedan chairs, inscribed tablets, carved beds, and stone carvings. Nearby, the Dafu Mansion (Sanhe Folk Museum) recreates an official residence's hall with exquisite wood carvings, including an oversized abacus over one meter long. Northeast of the bridge, Xiangu Tower is a Huizhou-style temple funded by merchants including the owner of the time-honored pastry shop "Zhonghexiang." Heading north along the east bank of Xiaonan River leads to ancient West Street, paved with bluestones and once bustling with shops—Liutongxinglongzhuang still maintains its original commercial layout. South along the west bank brings you to Quezhu Covered Bridge, named after Sanhe's ancient moniker "Quezhu," featuring a two-tiered eaves corridor with "beauty's seat" railings perfect for resting and enjoying the waterfront. The southern area around Old South Street and Wannian Street clusters notable former residences, including those of physicist Chen-Ning Yang, general Sun Liren, and Helu. During the Anti-Japanese War, young Chen-Ning Yang sheltered here with his family. Nearby, the famous "One-Person Alley" narrows to barely accommodate a single visitor, making it a popular photo spot. Further south stand Wannian Temple, Chenghuang Temple, and the historic Wannian Stage—Sanhe being the birthplace of Lu Opera, whose authentic melodies often grace the stage during festivals. Local snacks concentrate near Sanxian Bridge: freshly fried Sanhe rice dumplings with crispy shells, shrimp paste, crispy duck, and various river delicacies represent regional cuisine, while tea-flavored dried tofu makes for perfect street-side nibbling. Rice wine and feather fans serve as portable souvenirs. In 2026, Sanhe became a key filming location for CCTV's Spring Festival Gala Hefei segment, with its night scenes of a thousand fish lanterns captivating nationwide audiences.China · Feixi

Yuyao Jingxiang is a project for the protection and utilization of the old city of Jingdezhen. It is located in the northern part of the old city along the Changjiang River in Jingdezhen, adjacent to the Yuyaochang National Archaeological Site Park, starting from Zhongdukou in the south and ending at Cidu Bridge in the north, with a total length of 1.1 kilometers. Here, 23 lanes formed after the Song Dynasty are still preserved, as well as a large number of historical buildings (structures) such as docks, shops, houses, stages, guild halls, churches and other material cultural heritage, and the intangible cultural heritage such as porcelain making technology and folk customs are passed down in a living state. It reflects the relic forms of ceramic production, commercial trade, market life, social governance, and cultural integration in the long historical period of the old city of Jingdezhen in a relatively concentrated manner. It is an important part of Jingdezhen's cultural heritage and has very important historical and literary and artistic value. Visiting it is like walking through a time tunnel. You can experience the historical features of the ancient streets, feel the charming and colorful customs of the ancient town and the fascinating Changjiang River, and enjoy this slow-living and fashionable old city.Jingdezhen · 36.4 km from Leping

#Jingdezhen·Sanbao International Porcelain Valley [Location]# is the contemporary spiritual reserve of #Jingdezhen# as an international porcelain capital. Inheriting the porcelain gene of Hutian Kiln, the valley of dozens of kilometers between two low mountains is home to hundreds of ceramic creative studios of all sizes. Whether old, forty, thirty, young, returning to the scenery, or drifting in the scenery, they gather in this valley of more than ten kilometers to keep warm. The tourists who come here in an endless stream are more like uninvited guests, which have opened ripples in the tranquility here. Going up the stream along Sanbao Road, all the way to the end of the road, the valley is quiet and the birds are singing more crisply, the stream is gurgling under your feet, and you don’t follow Ruan Ji’s cry of despair, but instead want to return to farming. A spring rain at night, the lightness and heaviness complement each other.

☘️The hotel receptionist suggested visiting the sculpture porcelain factory if I wanted to buy souvenirs. So after breakfast, I took a bus there. ☘️I hoped to explore before it got too crowded, but I arrived too early. Many studios and shops were closed, creating a quiet and deserted atmosphere. However, this gave me a unique strolling experience, so I slowed down and leisurely wandered among the stalls that were already open. ☘️The stalls here weren't as solemn as those in museums; instead, they were full of lively atmosphere and vibrant creativity. What attracted my attention most were the rows of miniature blue and white porcelain pieces. Neatly arranged on shelves, they were crafted into various small bottles and jars, some round like pearls, others slender and elongated. Each piece is exquisitely crafted and adorable, its glaze gleaming warmly in the morning light, pleasing to the eye and making you want to take them all home. ☘️Besides traditional porcelain, the modern creative ornaments here are incredibly diverse and dazzling. The shelves are crammed with all sorts of uniquely shaped trinkets: adorable animal porcelain sculptures, colorful abstract figures, and many figurines and cartoon characters incorporating popular elements. These works are unconventional, full of youthful imagination, making it impossible not to stop and admire them. ☘️Passing through the porcelain section, the roadside jewelry stalls are equally captivating. Colorful glass beads and crystal-clear gems are strung into various bracelets and pendants. Picking up a string and holding it in your palm, the beads are round and smooth, the colors refreshing, possessing both traditional classical charm and modern fashion sense; each little accessory reveals the artisan's ingenuity. ☘️Although the time spent at the sculpture porcelain factory was short and I wasn't able to visit all the shops, the unique tranquility of the early morning, coupled with the exquisite and creative displays before me, made me feel very comfortable and reluctant to leave.

Taking a bamboo raft trip offers beautiful views of both sides of the river. The journey takes about 90 minutes and is entirely by manual pole-pole propelling. The water quality is excellent, crystal clear. Climbing Tianyou Peak requires considerable physical strength; I saw three people faint and need resuscitation along the way. Those lacking stamina are advised against climbing.
