Vilnius Cathedral
Vilnius Cathedral is located on the wide church square at the foot of Gediminas Mountain. It was built in 1387-1388. It was the first Gothic wooden church. After many restorations, it gradually merged with the Gothic style. , Renaissance and Baroque. There are three statues standing on the gable in front of the church, the one holding the cross in the middle is St. Anna, the one on the right is St. Kazimiras, and the one on the left is St. Stanislav. Next to the cathedral is the 52-meter-high bell tower, which is the watchtower of the ancient castle from the 13th to the 17th centuries, and contains 17 clocks. Hill of Crosses
Hill of Crosses is a pilgrimage site 12 km north of the city of Siauliai. It is believed that the first crosses were placed at a former military bunker site after the Lithuanian uprising against Russia in November 1831. Over the centuries, Catholic pilgrims have placed many crosses here, as well as giant crucifixes, sculptures of Lithuanian patriots, statues of the Virgin Mary, and thousands of tiny effigies and rosaries, each cross representing an unyielding spirit, a noble soul, and the silent, defiant national character.Lithuania · Meskuiciu seniunija
Church of St. Anne
St. Anne's Church was the cathedral of the region from the 14th century until the 19th century. The interior of the church is solemn and brilliant, with the main altar, fence and colorful brick decorations being exquisite. Vilnius Cathedral is one of the most impressive landmarks in Lithuania, located in the heart of Vilnius. Its elegant classical architecture, spacious square, and beautiful surroundings create a peaceful and memorable atmosphere. I especially enjoyed walking around the cathedral and taking in the historic charm of the Old Town. The cathedral feels both grand and welcoming, making it a wonderful place for visitors interested in history, architecture, and culture. The nearby streets are perfect for a relaxing walk and photography. There are not many Gothic buildings in Vilnius, and St. Anne's Church is one of them. Please pay attention to the opening hours. I went there in the evening and it was closed.
