Avignon Cathedral is situated on a rocky plateau overlooking the Rhône River and is an important local religious building and historical landmark. Its history dates back to the 12th century, and the main structure is Romanesque in style, featuring thick stone walls, rounded arches, and a simple, solemn facade. Unlike many cathedrals in France known for their Gothic spires, the overall silhouette of this building is more understated, reflecting the style of medieval religious architecture in the Provence region. The interior features religious sculptures, paintings, altars, and decorative details, creating a solemn and dignified atmosphere, while also preserving traces of renovations and artistic developments from different periods.Avignon · 37.9 km from Nimes

old nice is located near the Mediterranean coast and is one of the representative historic districts of Nice. It was formed during the Middle Ages and features a compact street layout, retaining a large number of traditional buildings in the Italian style, which showcases the historical background of Nice as a long-standing intersection of French and Italian cultures. The building facades here are primarily in warm tones such as yellow, ochre, and orange, complemented by green shutters, wrought-iron balconies, and traditional wooden doors, creating a distinct Mediterranean urban landscape. The area is filled with narrow cobblestone streets, small squares, churches, cafes, restaurants, and specialty shops, and exploring on foot reveals many architectural details with historical character.France · Nice

Old Port of Marseille

277 reviews
The old port area is the center of gravity and the essence of the entire Marseille region, not only because it is the origin of Marseille and was the third largest port in the world 200 years ago, but more importantly, the pure Marseille style can only be seen here. There are many famous monuments around the Old Port, including the castles of Saint John and Saint Nicholas built in the era of Louis XIV. In addition, the old port is also the life and entertainment center of the Maasai people. The area around the Old Port is a famous food district. Most of the restaurants in the port operate a famous Marseille delicacy - "Marseille Fish Soup". The "Old Port" is actually not old. It was rebuilt after the Second World War, but the locals still call it "Old Port". Apart from habit, there should be a historical sentiment in it. Every morning, the fish market here is very lively, and the wharf is full of small fishing boats and boats. The whole harbor is full of the unique leisure atmosphere of southern France. The master plan of the Old Port Mirror View Pavilion was jointly undertaken by FosterPartners and French landscape architect Michel Desvigne. A huge viewing pavilion of 46 × 22 meters, which is like a mirror, was built here. It is supported by 8 thin columns. Since then, the corners of the mirror pavilion have been gradually thinned to reduce the visual weight. The view of the surrounding old port is reflected from the ceiling of the polished stainless steel mirror, as well as the faces of thousands of tourists who stop to watch, creating a strange beauty, which not only provides a place for tourists to stop and shade, but also It allows tourists to become part of the landscape when they enjoy the scenery of the old port.France · Marseille
Vila Vella

Vila Vella is a charming coastal town located on the Mediterranean coast, approx. 100 km north of Barcelona. The town nestles in a horseshoe-shaped blue bay, and medieval stone walls stand on the high ground at the end of the main beach. The main beach is gentle and open, suitable for swimming. You can rent water sports equipment on the other side of the bay, and a quieter, smaller beach is hidden behind the city walls. A trail passes right through the town, and hiking along the coastal cliffs allows you to explore nearby coves. The town still retains small-scale fishing, with the catch mostly supplied to local restaurants. Enjoying Catalan-style seafood dishes paired with local wine while sitting by the sea is particularly pleasant. For a different perspective, you can take a glass-bottom boat out to sea to see schools of fish and sea caves through the bottom of the boat. Summer is suitable for a beach vacation, while spring and autumn are better for hiking and exploring history.Spain · Tossa de Mar

Van Gogh Sanatorium is a memorial building. It is quite large and is also one of the most important sanatoriums in the area. The surrounding scenery is very nice and there are many historical buildings. The city is not very big, but it is indeed very warm.

Avignon Cathedral is located next to the Papal Palace, and it's a simple Romanesque building. The statue of the Virgin Mary on the top of the bell tower is very conspicuous and can be seen from anywhere in the city. The interior of the cathedral is not large, with soft light from the stained glass windows and some faded murals on the walls. It's quite quiet inside, and you can hear the sounds of tourists coming from the Papal Palace square next door, but it still has the tranquility of an old church.

As the name suggests, it's an area with an old-fashioned feel. There are a lot of delicious restaurants. In particular, there were a lot of famous gelato shops, so people were waiting in line. ☺️

A Winter's Glow Over the Bay of Angels The winter glow of Nice is a visual feast not to be missed. At dawn, the Bay of Angels is covered with a thin layer of snow, its fine white sand and pebble beaches half pure white and half deep black. As the first rays of sunlight pierce through the clouds, the entire bay is instantly bathed in a warm orange-gold hue, the sea shimmering like it's been sprinkled with diamonds. The colorful old buildings, illuminated by the glow and snow, take on an oil painting-like quality. Warm yellow walls and pale pink roofs appear even more gentle under the snow, while the silhouettes of palm trees are outlined with graceful lines in the golden light. The waves gently lap against the shore, creating a soft, pattering sound, and together with the snow-covered Castle Hill in the distance, a breathtaking scene. This romance is not always available; the once-in-a-decade snowfall and the perfectly timed glow combine to create this uniquely Mediterranean gentleness. Standing on the streets of Anglo-Saxon, watching the golden sunlight gradually melt the snow, you'll understand that Nice's winter is more worthwhile than you might imagine.

Tossa is really a very suitable town for vacation. The water is super clear. There are restaurants and hotels along the coastline, and there are many choices. It is a summer resort. October is their last busy month. Some restaurants and hotels have closed down. Although the outdoor temperature is still over 20 degrees, the water feels super cold when you go in. The stone town at the end of the beach is the best viewing platform in the town. It is not too tiring to climb up, and there is no extra charge. The view and scenery are good.

It happened to be winter when I went there, so there were almost no people on the beach. The sea water was not as blue as in summer, but the light blue hue was also unique. Although it is also close to the Mediterranean Sea, the sea breeze is much milder than that in Tel Aviv and Alexandria, Egypt, and the climate is mild and pleasant. No wonder Matisse went to Nice for recuperation in winter. This time there was a strike, and the city's transportation was on strike. I just walked around the old town and the beach, strolled on the English Promenade, and picked up stones on the beach. I could spend a whole day there.
