The Bund

4.8/5
157.1k reviews
The Bund is located along the Huangpu River, stretching approx. 1.5 km in length. As a symbolic attraction of Shanghai, it features a diverse collection of international architectural styles and the stunning night view of the Huangpu River as its highlights. The Bund stands with dozens of classical revival buildings in diverse styles, including the renowned Bank of China building, Shanghai Peace Hotel, Customs House, and HSBC building, recreating the former glory of the "Wall Street of the Far East." Surprisingly, these structures were neither designed by the same architect nor built in the same period, yet they possess a unique harmonious beauty. The Bund showcases various architectural styles, such as French classical, French chateau, and Gothic, which are significant historical sites and representative buildings of modern China, forming a stunning scenic line along the Huangpu River. As night falls, the neon lights on both banks illuminate the sky. Board a Huangpu River cruise or ferry and glide along the river, feeling the gentle breeze. On one side is The Bund, a witness to historical development, while on the other stands Lujiazui, Shanghai's modern landmark. The graceful silhouette of Waibaidu Bridge offers a fresh perspective to admire the beauty of this vibrant metropolis.Shanghai · 1.8 km from downtown

Yu Garden

8.2
4.7/5
56.1k reviews
Yu garden is located in the northeast of Shanghai yu garden tourist business district, adjacent to Shanghai chenghuangmiao and Shanghai yu garden tourist mall. It is a renowned classical Jiangnan-style garden and a famous scenic spot both domestically and internationally. In 1982, it was approved as a "national key cultural relics protection unit". Yu Garden was first built during the Jiajing and Wanli periods of the Ming Dynasty, with a history of over 450 years. The garden's owner, Pan Yunduan, once served as the provincial administration commissioner of Sichuan. To allow his father to enjoy his later years, Pan Yunduan began from 1559 (the Jihai year of Jiajing reign) to transform his family's vegetable field by gathering stones, digging ponds, constructing pavilions, and planting bamboo to create a garden. After more than 20 years of meticulous effort, Yu Garden was completed. The character "Yu" carries the meanings of "peace" and "tranquility," and the name "Yu Garden" embodies the wish to "delight one's elderly parents." When first constructed, Yu Garden covered over 70 mu of land and was meticulously designed by Zhang Nanyang, a renowned garden architect of the Ming Dynasty, who personally oversaw its construction. The entire garden features grand scale and exquisite scenery. The current Yu Garden covers an area of 2 hectares, featuring staggered pavilions, rugged rocks, lush trees, and exquisite craftsmanship that reveals grandeur in miniature. It showcases the artistic style of Jiangnan garden architecture during the Ming and Qing dynasties with its serene beauty and delicate details. Yu garden still preserves historical sites such as the "library building" - the birthplace of Shanghai-style painting and calligraphy, and the "dianchun hall" in yu garden which served as the headquarters of the Shanghai small sword society uprising. Ancient scholars praised yu garden with accolades like "peerless beauty in the southeast" and "the crown of southeastern gardens". Many domestic and foreign political leaders and celebrities have visited Yu Garden, making it a rare traditional cultural landmark in Shanghai.Shanghai · 1.8 km from downtown

I managed to snag several major attractions without queuing, saw the 10th-anniversary special performance, and even enjoyed a spectacular light and fireworks display featuring three different themes: the standard show, the 10th-anniversary show, and the Duffy's birthday month show! It was absolutely amazing!

The Three-Sphere 2073 exhibit wasn't very interesting; it was probably too futuristic. I didn't understand it. The Two-Sphere exhibit is sufficient. Take some photos on the glass walkway, experience the thrill, and it's a must-see in Shanghai.

Yu Garden is Shanghai's most representative classical garden in the Jiangnan region. Its exquisitely crafted pavilions, terraces, and rockeries complement each other beautifully, showcasing the elegance and sophistication of traditional Eastern gardens. Not only can you appreciate its rich historical and cultural heritage, but the surrounding bustling Nine-Turn Bridge and Yu Garden Old Street are also perfect spots to sample famous local delicacies (such as Nanxiang steamed buns). It's an unmissable city landmark for experiencing both Shanghai's unique style and traditional charm.

My son loved it and kept saying he wanted to go again the next day, but our schedule was packed. We went very early, even on a weekday, so it wasn't too crowded. The queues were manageable; the longest wait was half an hour. Most importantly, my son met a lovely girl, and they had a blast!

Environment: The park is filled with giant LEGO brick models, with clear themed zones and an overall clean and tidy atmosphere. The attractions are geared towards younger children and families, but adults can also find photo opportunities. It gets very crowded on holidays, and some outdoor areas are extremely sunny. Indoor areas offer shaded rest areas, and the brick-themed landscaping is meticulously detailed. Location: Located in Fengjing, Jinshan District, it's quite far from the city center and there's no direct subway access. It's very close to Jinshan North Railway Station, and parking is convenient for those driving. There are resort-style shopping malls nearby, so you can easily find food and shopping after your visit. It's suitable for a full-day trip, but not ideal for a quick stop in the city. Dining: The park has several themed restaurants, with visually appealing brick-shaped burgers and Monkey King-themed dishes. The park's food prices are on the higher side, and the taste is average. Since you can enter and exit the park multiple times, the shopping mall near the entrance offers more choices and better value. Families with children can bring their own snacks.

A great place, perfect for a leisurely family trip. You can see wild animals, there are shows, and rides for the whole family. Everyone had a great time. You could easily spend a whole day there. The whole family rode together to watch the wild animals live and play. Watching the shows was also very enjoyable; the various animal performances were excellent!

The shopping centers within the district boast impressive designs, with airy oval domes and spacious, multi-level corridors, making them perfect for taking atmospheric photos while shopping. The malls offer a diverse range of businesses, from authentic local restaurants to adorable teddy bear-themed photo spots, making them ideal for family outings.

It was pretty good. The fireworks and light show around 9 PM was the best. It was packed with people during the day; reliable sources say over 50,000 people visited on the 6th. I did most of the rides I wanted to see. A tip: to get a good spot in the Magical Garden early for the fireworks, go early. I arrived at 8:30 PM and could only get a good view from the bridge; the view wasn't great and was blocked by lights and signs. Overall, it was still a good experience.
