Xunyang River Scenic Area, located in Jiujiang, Jiangxi Province, is a scenic spot where history and nature blend seamlessly. Upon entering the scenic area, the first thing that catches the eye is the Pipa Pavilion, famous for Bai Juyi's poem "The Song of the Pipa," as if one can hear the pipa's sound echoing through time. Strolling along the riverbank, the majestic Suojiang Tower and Suojiang Pagoda stand tall in the distance, having withstood centuries of wind and rain. Xunyang Tower, with its simple yet elegant architectural style, particularly captivated me. Climbing the tower, I gazed upon the shimmering Yangtze River, where water and sky merged seamlessly. I also took a cruise on the Xunyang River, gliding across the water and experiencing the idyllic feeling of "a boat sailing on emerald waves, a person traveling in a painting." This trip to Xunyang River Scenic Area left me captivated by its profound cultural heritage and beautiful natural scenery, making me reluctant to leave.

The town on Mount Lushan didn't truly begin to take shape until the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In 1894, a British missionary, Li Deli, arrived in Lushan. Astute and discerning, he was drawn to the mountain's beautiful scenery and pleasant climate, particularly ideal for summer escapes. He immediately leased the area from the Qing government to build summer villas for foreigners in China at the time. The area was named "Guling," a play on the English word "cooling," meaning a place to escape the summer heat.

One of Lushan's classic attractions. This artificial lake, named for its violin-like shape, was built in 1961. The lake is equivalent to 15 standard football fields. A nine-curve bridge connects the lake's central island to the shore, housing the Yiqin Pavilion and a waterside pavilion. When shrouded in mist, the lake's surface appears as graceful as a "silk scarf around a young girl's neck." The lakeside Huajing Park inspired Bai Juyi's poem, "The fragrance of April fades, and the peach blossoms in the mountain temple begin to bloom." The park preserves his thatched cottage exhibition hall and stone sculptures. The ruins of Dalin Temple were also discovered at the bottom of the lake.

A highlight of the Xihaiwan Scenic Area is its night view. In the summer, the temperature in Linlin varies significantly, from over 20 degrees Celsius at noon to just over 10 degrees Celsius at night. After dinner, I took a leisurely stroll through the Xihaiyuan Scenic Area. Under the soft lights, a cool breeze blew, and the shadows of the trees swayed. There were vendors selling everything from jujubes, nectarines, watermelons, and grapes. While these fruits are also available in the city, the only organic products in this small county town are truly delicious.

Seven adults all agreed it was worth a second visit. There are small hills but the path is flat and not tiring. Strollers are available. There's a small stream with water for playing in. There's a zoo and an amusement park. It's not crowded on weekends, so there aren't many lines. There are also performances. We entered the park around 3 a.m. and played until around 9 p.m., which was quite nice.
